Congrats on your new home and thanks for the great tips!
I have to say you are right about storing food containers with the lids on as well. For 25 years we were struggling with losing lids or bowls or things being thown away or caught in between something else and broken. Three years ago I got rid of all of them and bought 1 set of 12 containers with lids. Stored them in a drawer and they are still there with all their lids!
I’m in my 60’s. My mom never allowed us to store Tupperware with the lids on, because it made them smell. Today, I don’t think that is the case anymore. Needless to say, my mom had this thing about Tupperware and plastic containers. I vowed when I grew up- no plastic and or Tupperware in my kitchen. I only own glass containers now. I didn’t early on in my marriage and raising children. It is easier with lids on. 😊
@@stjabnful i was told at a tupperware party awhile ago that storing plastic with lids on were a no-no because it bred bacteria … everyone there seemed to think that was true… is it not any longer?
I sort the lids into one large container. Then, I stack the like containers together. I grab a container, fill it, then grab a lid, and I'm done. I am cooking for one, so single servings are ESSENTIAL.
@stjabnful . I've had plenty of Tupperware containers, but over the years, they kept on disappearing (taking them to friends/ parties and they never returned. But, your mum is right, the old ones I still have do smell when I close the lids. I haven't bought any more in yrs. I the ones I buy from stores now, I store them with lids on. 😊
same. im always sayin, if you put it back where it lives, ul know where it is for next time you want to use it,instead of never being able to find stuff - and labels 4 fab!!
My mother in law is a cleaning lady, and she taught me to put trash bags at the bottom of the garbage bin too. I’ve been doing it for decades and never had an issue with leaks (knock on wood), and it is really so convenient!
Absolutely love the under the sink storage and acrylic bin for garbage bags. Will definitely try this. I am still so surprised at storing containers with the lids on. You lose so much space by not being able to stack them inside eachother. We have storage containers with only two different types of lids, so we just keep the lids in the same spot, also stacked. With that in mind, really then surprised to see you don't store travel mugs with the lids on them. We have a huge variety of travel mugs and finding the right lid when in a hurry was always a huge pain. Now we store all our cups with the lid on. It has made life SO much easier. Obviously, have to make sure everything is clean and dry, but that's no different than other dishes.
I do same - bought quality storage containers that nest, 2 lip sizes. 4 total "sizes", so lids fit the 2 smaller size or the 2 larger. Any odd balls (ie larger for the occasional big dish or entertaining cheap container) are stored up high/in back so they aren't using valuable daily/ergonomic real estate. I'm getting older, so the amount of lifting weight up, or from above my head, I keep to a minimum.
All of our food storage is the same size and i store them with the lids on. Its really nice for when im tired after dinner i only have to grab one thing lol I also store our cups with the lids on. Almost everything with a lid is stored with it 🤣 i think youd be surprised how much you like storing food containers with the lids on! But obviously its not a pain point for you 😊
suggestion - have the blades pointed up in your knife drawer 8:00 maybe bc you have kids, but i'm of the opinion that knife edge in contact with a surface isn't good for them - storing blades down, or against a surface makes them dull out faster. I store mine blades up at home
I can't thank you enough for this video. Your new kitchen is set up EXACTLY like my kitchen. I've been dealing with a lack of cabinet & counter space for 10 years. I tried using the "stair step" spice storage - it didn't work for me. I kept knocking over the ones in front, etc. I now have my spices in a drawer with labels on top so I can see exactly what I have. This works for ME, but everyone needs to figure out and use what works for THEM!
I started storing all my containers with the lids on a really long time ago and i didn't care if it took more space or not. I was so tired of hearing family members complain they couldn't find lids lol. One day i was like, thats it. I threw away EVERYTHING that didn't have a lid and i threw out lids that didnt go to anything. And i found out what those were by putting the lids on everything to see what was left over. I then made it an official rule that nothing is to get put away without its lid. We've never looked back.
Thank you for your organization tips! On the top shelf in my refrigerator I use four Lazy Susan disks. I am 5'1" tall so it helps me to be able to reach items much easier. On the back two I store things used occasionally. On the front two I store things used more frequently. Another set of Lazy Susan disks are in my cabinet for easy access.
I had 4 kiddos 6 and under! I’m glad I had mine close together, they’re all adults now (18-24) all young women, ambitious and CLOSE! They’re all best friends 🥰 happy 4th! 🎆🎇
Congratulations, hope you continue to have that positive attitude and patience. It helps to cope with the stress and chaos. Im sure you'll do very well. I've seen a few videos about organising and I there is one concern I have about emptying dishwasher pods in easily accessible containers. They're not safe with children around, and should be left in their containers away from children. Even if there are locks on cupboards, in our busy lives, we don't always remember to lock them. 😊
I’ve done that for 50+ years. A Tupperware rep told me back in the ‘60’s that lids might warp if not on their bowl. So now I still have “ancient” Tupperware with lids! My challenge: I “hoard” cream cheese, yogurt, butter storage bowls and they take so much room!
Because I have very little storage space in my kitchen, I do not store my knives in a drawer OR on the counter. Instead, there is a wood surround for our refrigerator - that flat, empty space on the side is the perfect place for two strong magnetic strips that hold the knives/cleaver.
The act of storing cutlery and crockery in cabinets or drawers was not designed for people with lot storage, it was designed to protect these utensils from dust and other undesirable things in the environment. That said, everything I can hang on the kitchen walls I also hang, because it's more functional, I like having everything at hand, but it's best to do it consciously and accept the consequences. I never use anything directly, I always rinse everything before using it.
I LOVE organizational ideas, and showing different types for different spaces. One of my favorites is to use a large plastic bin as a pull-out "drawer" on a shelf; gives access to the back, too. Plz give us a house tour!! ❤
I ABSOLUTELY encourage storing food storage containers with the lids on- big game changer- it keeps the containers better organized and stacked plus, it helps eliminate excess storage containers and lids once you actually see what you have!!! I love organizing my home, however, no matter how I label and organize, it only stays that way if EVERYONE in the house is as conscious of putting things away where they found them and not just to the side of the containers or any flat surface 😅
@@keshakellogg5995 you put the command hooks on upside down on the side of the garbage can and that way you can hook the handles through it and the bag won't fall in the garbage can
Funny enough, I first found this channel because I was struggling with my kitchen storage. I love all the adjustable storage ideas! I don't know how many times I've bought organizers only to get them home and realize that they're 1/2 inch too small for the space I have, so these are perfect. Also, turning the plate risers on their sides is genius. 🤯
1:40 Beautifully done! My only caveat would be to refrain from decanting detergent pods ( manufacturer packaging is moisture- and child-proof). This is one instance where safety should take priority over aesthetics. Thank you for sharing with us 🤗
My tried and true hack is (plastic) magazin holders ander the sink. She shape leds them slide under the drain pipe and makes it looks really good in the front. It also accomodates different types of cleaner, cleaning rags etc and they can easily be taken out individually. You often get them for free because many people dont store that many paper things anymore. I did it in every appartment for the last 15 year and love it.
As a hearing impaired person it would be great to have no or quieter background music when you are speaking. I use closed captions but I want to hear you not the music. Congratulations on your 4th baby!
Same here. I guess the background music isn’t a problem for most but with my hearing being so bad, it’s all I can hear. Then the words spoken sound muffled and to turn the volume up higher just increases the music portion for me. Weird but I completely agree with you. I’d love for the background music to be gone
Organization is personal. I believe you should do what makes sense to you. I use a 2 tiered lazy susan for my spices and my daughter is using a drawer spice organizer. They both work for different reasons.
I appreciate you sharing these ideas! I get so overwhelmed with all the options and variations of products. Knowing what actually works and different uses for things really helps me!
Such a good suggestion. Thank you. So I don’t have to squat down for the time it would take to review the contents of a drawer or shelf in full. Just turn until I see what I want. Brilliant!
Great idea those plate shelves laid in their sides to use as dividers! Why didn’t I think of that? 🤣🤣. I love your clear bins, I really like those and have a ton of those in my house.

I label everything for my husband. We keep things in the same place all the time, but he knows where nothing goes. His brain just doesn’t work like that. While he likes to call me “extra”, he says he does like everything being labeled so he knows where to get and where to put stuff. I also thought lazy Susan’s were a waste of space, but when we redid our pantry I started using them for oils, vinegars and syrups. I love them now.
I do now store my food storage containers with lids on. BUT- it only came about when I threw out what I wasn't using. I just re-did my kitchen and I had two pull out drawers leftover once everything else was put away. I bought the bamboo dividers and made slim sections. I then prop the containers on their side in the rows. Even if I don't pull out the drawer, I can still grab the container I want. I also use the bamboo dividers in my drawers for my cooking utensils. Instead of making the dividers go front to back, I put the dividers in side to side. It gives me more slots to organize into and I can easily see what I have. Someone else mentioned peel and still tiles to go under your sink. The bottom of my sink cabinet had to be cut to install a heater. When I realized how awful it looked on the brand new cabinet, I asked the contractor to use left over LVT from the floor. It looks amazing. I told the contractor I was a genius! hahahaha
Congrats on baby #4 and your new house!! I love your channel, I really like the new name!! Thank you for the great organizing tips!! I really hope you have a child proof lock on the cleaning supplies cabinet, I know kids love to try and eat dish washing tabs and tide pods. Please do a house tour soon!!
Yes I love storing my upperware with lids. It takes up a little extra space but is worth it. Now my husband can easy find tupperware. I need my pans and bakeware to be divided; I am adding it to my to do list. I hope you and your family have a great week!
Congratulations on #4! I've got 4 under age 6 and it is hard but ultimately the best decision. We're moving towards the next season of life and everyone gets to join in at the same time. Here's to a zero diaper household! (In about 2 years. Lol)
I will recommend to everyone to please use liquid dishwasher soap. Those pods clog your pipes! It’s not something that’s gonna happen overnight but it does happen! Same with the laundry detergent. Btw, you changed the name of your channel! I was so used to But first coffee 😂
Wow has it been that long since I watched you? Kinda miss "But first, Coffee", thought that was so clever. But I can see why the change. How far along are you LOL! Looking good, can't wait to see what you do with the new space.
YES! Decanting your staples! (I'm afraid of bugs.. js. Lol) I also do the same thing with the spices! Matching little jars and an overstock section. Lol I have the knife thing in my drawer. A smaller one, but the same thing. I love it. I'm in the middle of moving and trying to fit stuff in less cupboards, but this time I have a huge pantry cupboard that I'm organizing. Lol Thank you for all your tips and tricks! You are amazing! ❤ Congrats on #4! You are so brave. I had 3 under the age of 5. Challenging, yet so rewarding. ❤️
I use glass containers in my pantry for baking ingredients, or any food item that won't get used up quickly, and only use plastic for foods we eat more quickly (aka crackers, cereal, etc.) I LOVE mason jars too!
I love labeling things for this reason. That way when someone goes where is a towel for the kitchen…it’s in the basket labeled cleaning supplies. Or my daughter can put her clothes away with little instruction while helping her learn to recognize words. It also helps me identify that white flour like substance…like is it flour or pancake mix? I have no clue.
Great ideas as always, but I'm curious why you don't store your travel cups/mugs with corresponding lids the way you store your food storage containers.
All ideas are great but I would also recommend lining shelves in your cabinets. This will help protect the wood and for those that have dark interior cabinets a white liner would also help brighten inside
I am so happy I came across your videos again. I have been subscribed and have notifications clicked, but I stopped seeing your new videos. I'm glad to see you again. Congratulations on the new baby!!
Some really great ideas that I’m definitely gonna steal from you 😂 I do like to keep my sandwich bags, garbage bags, and dishwasher tablets in their boxes because they already have a spot that they pop out of.
I store my storage containers with their lids on also. I have tried both ways, and with lids on is so much better for me. It is weird because it seems so impractical, but once I tried it, I never went back. Congrats on your new home.
❤thanks for another great video, love your tips‼️ They might not all be the way others would do it, but I love seeing how other people do things❣️ I don’t understand the judgement in the comments 😮
OMG I feel you!!! ❤❤❤ It happened to me too!!!! So frustrating!!! I finally got my dream kitchen and after two years I got pregnant with our third and now we're in rental appartment with small kitchen that sucks!!! 😭😭😭
Thank you for your awesome ideas & showing what to purchase. I want to do a kitchen “makeover” as I “fight with” my out dated kitchen. My drawer’s & cupboard’s are deep & narrow from the 60’s/70’s…it’s a rental so I can’t do a lot, but I think some of your ideas may work. Plus I might actually like my kitchen!
I also rent, both older & newer units. I found making "drawers" using cheap dish pans helped a lot - they're cheap, durable, & hold a lot I can pull out when needed.
Try storing the containers in larger containers of the same, like small square containers with lids on inside larger square containers with the lids on
@@mementomori1022 If you could see my cabinets, you would understand! I have far fewer cabinets than she does, mine aren't as tall or wide as hers seem to appear, I have no pantry, the design of my cabinets does not permit items like slide on organizing tools. Do you need more? lol. I have used every trick I can find to maximize utilization. I got one tip from this video that I can use. I am a fan of her channel. I'd be thrilled if I had as much usable space as she does. Same for other channels that tout organizing tools.
@@mementomori1022, probably the knife drawer, baggie containers, and shelf for the spices. I have a decent sized kitchen, and I don’t have drawer space to waste on some of these. Also, while the adjustable vertical shelf is a great idea, it does leave a lot of wasted space in front of the shelf.

I told the contractor I was a genius! hahahaha
Congrats on your new addition and your new home.
Decanting the staples worked so well for me especially since I had to use my hall closet as my pantry
Congratulations on baby #4. Courageous lady
Ok, very organized, when I had small children I could not put cleaning products down that low.😊
If you have little ones the dishwasher pods should be up where they can't get it. Some kids think they are candy. Bright colors are tempting.
Or she can (and probably already does) babyproof the cabinet! 😊
Lol)
Love your videos and tips. I have 4 lazy Susan's in my kitchen helps so much
I will recommend to everyone to please use liquid dishwasher soap. Those pods clog your pipes! It’s not something that’s gonna happen overnight but it does happen! Same with the laundry detergent.
Btw, you changed the name of your channel!
I was so used to But first coffee 😂
good to know, I don't use them because they cost significantly more than the regular dish soap in a box!
don't they also contribute to micro plastics in our bodies and environment?
Yes my repair man told me use liquid as it rinses away🇨🇦
Lol
Thank you for all your tips and tricks! You are amazing! ❤
Congrats on #4!
I store my Tupperware with lids on too!
Best video, like my favs from Coffee Girl. :) Wow! Love this so much. I don't have kids, and this is just so helpful for everyone! LOVE LOVE LOVE
Girl, you're quite a Fast Talker! I grew up in NY so I should know! Lol.
I appreciate it too, but still watch on 2X speed🤫
Great video!!! I would LOVE some ideas on storing makeup palettes, especially large ones. I have 22(!!!) of them and need some ideas!
Congratulations! You look radiant ❤️👍
I just moved and needed to see all these in one video... perfect! Any recommendations for sliding drawers to fit deep (pantry) shelves?
I bought some of these from Burlington yesterday. All the plastic and acrylic things started from$ 5.99 to 12.99.
For pantry and fridge,
Great ideas as always, but I'm curious why you don't store your travel cups/mugs with corresponding lids the way you store your food storage containers.
I don’t have a kitchen but I still like your videos!
I use a lazy susan inside my fridge for sauces etc, made it SO much easier.
Question: Why not store the lids on the travel cups? What did they just not fit in the organizer?
I really enjoyed this video. It was very informative. Thank you and I definitely subscribed.❤
I'm still trying to deal with 1 baby! Your an inspiration for sure!
I store my storage containers with their lids on also. I have tried both ways, and with lids on is so much better for me. It is weird because it seems so impractical, but once I tried it, I never went back. Congrats on your new home.
May you be happy in your new home so happy about baby no 4 xx
I love the shelf risers.
❤thanks for another great video, love your tips‼️ They might not all be the way others would do it, but I love seeing how other people do things❣️ I don’t understand the judgement in the comments 😮
I love your kitchen storage ideals thanks for sharing. Hope you have a wonderful day !!!!! ❤❤
Try storing the containers in larger containers of the same, like small square containers with lids on inside larger square containers with the lids on
I have very minimal cabinet space. Cannot use the majority of these ideas. So I have had to develop different approaches.
I am going to try many of those ideas. Congratulations on the new baby. I loved that season of my life.
What great ideas and products, thank you so much!
Ive done lids on containers for at least 20 years
When you decant, how do you keep up with the expiration dates?
New house tour PLEASE!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡
We also just moved, and I wish I had seen this before buying organizers on Amazon. 😂 The products you found are better than what I found. 🤦♀️
Along WITH the vertical rack for the bake ware: pull out shelves (in a bought house or get permission for rental....
