    Real question: Has anyone thought to inquire about what type of ink the magazines that transfer well use? It seems to me that we could rather quickly build a data set with this information. This way rather than having hundreds of gel print enthusiasts trying various magazines we’d be able to just provide a list of magazines that use the kind of ink that transfers well.
    It’s just good information to have from a material/chemistry standpoint. It would also help to clarify paint versus technique issues.
    With copies or laser prints, that’s toner which is plastic and it makes sense that the toner resists the paint and that absorbent paper picks up the paint better. Probably works even better with ink.

    Wow. Your prints are so neat!!! Love it. In my trials with various periodicals, I noticed something interesting. The written part of any picture transfers real quick with just a soft rub. But, if you keep on rubbing, the writing goes back from the plate onto the magazine page. So, when a page has both words and a picture, you gotta rub harder for the picture to fully transfer, while the words only need a light touch. It's a bit tricky, though, 'cause you can't keep the same pressure and rubbing strength across the whole plate surface. It's not always the case, but one thing is clear, gel printing is extremely addictive. Thank you for this tutorial.

    • @ellief3177
      @ellief3177 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Moira. If I may answer, like any other gel print these can be used in card making, scrap booking, collage, covering cardboard to make journal covers, pockets, bookmarks, journal cards, postcards, Artist Trading Cards or Coins, gift wrapping, in art journals, in junk journals or framed in their own right as art pieces. There are loads of ideas on the internet. Gel printing always produces a lot of pieces to play with!😀

      I'm with Ellie F, you can use them for soooo many things! If you are asking about the image transfers in this video: I like to use them in collages.

    • @moirawhite8042
      @moirawhite8042 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for all the suggestions 😊. I was mainly thinking of the transfer images, maybe I need to find some magazines that have things in that I like 🤔, then I might like them as a picture! I absolutely love gel printing and I’m always looking for new ideas ⭐️⭐️⭐️

      @@ellief3177 how does this stand in relation to copyrights ?

    • @ellief3177
      @ellief3177 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maureenmathieson7404 As with stamps and other images etc. if you are not selling your work in any way and it is just for your own use, not for any profit I would think this would be OK.
      However, if you wanted to then sell your work, this would be a problem, as the magazine the image came from would have the copyright. You should contact the magazine and ask about using an image. This might not be permitted at all or if it was, it could also become expensive, particularly if you wanted to use multiple images from lots of different magazines. To avoid this problem altogether, you would need to use your own photographs or royalty free images, which you could then get laser copied.
