I love Kroy. I’ve made multiple pairs of socks, for myself and as gifts. It wears like iron and can go through the washer and dryer without a problem. I’ve even made a sweater out of it that I love. While maybe not next to skin soft (except as socks), it’s just a great yarn, accessible and affordable.
I actually made a pair of the library socks in Paton’s Kroy, the MCM stripes colorway! I love them so much! I find that Paton’s Kroy is closer to a sport weight sock yarn, so the socks I make with this yarn are extra plushy and durable. I love this yarn!
I bought a whole bunch of this yarn from Hobby Lobby during their Clearance sale. They were $1.74 each (I believe). I have yet to use it. One of my goal for 2024 is to learn how to knit a pair of sock. Just your simple basic socks. No cable or fancy stitches... just your typical ribbing on the cuffs and stockinette stiches all throughout. I have been looking through TH-cam for a tutorial and have not found one I like or at least I can follow. I have the entire 2024 to learn it. Woohoo!
I have a lot of high end yarn in my stash. 3 cabinets full. I’m also an almost exclusive sock knitter. Kroy is the equivalent of Regia in the US. It’s hard wearing. MCN or Merino isn’t good for socks. Also, this yarn actually keeps the feet warm. MCN doesn’t. It’s the yarn base I always come back to. It’s a 5 out of 5 for me.
I just received my order of patrons kron socks in the color way brown rose. Your review was so timely. This is my first time knitting socks and I appreciated the sock pattern recommendations.
I sort of can’t agree on your availability score on this one. Being available in Joanne’s, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby is widely available in my book. Also, selected colors and patterns are on Amazon.

That is so great to hear! Yes, it seems to be a pretty workhorse yarn!:)

How fun! I'm so happy you love it! I made a few gift socks for the holidays holding this yarn double, and I agree, they are plush and squishy!:)

Wow, what a bargain! I am so excited that you're wanting to learn how to knit socks! I never thought I would knit socks, but I really enjoy it!
I learned from Ann Budd’s books. Any gauge any yarn.
Yay🎉 I'm excited to see you review yarns that are so accessible!
Thank you! I am so happy you enjoyed it!:)

That's okay to disagree! We like to consider how easy it is to order it online if those don't have a physical store near by to them:)
