I almost blew out the piston luckily I have someone watching and i stop before it could blow, but they did over extend. Finally a solution that works for brake service mode. Now if there was a solution for brake percentage reset without an expense scan tool that would be nice
Yea so I called the dealer they want $171 dollars just to rest the brake pad life 😂 yea right I just disabled it the point is to do it your self and save some money then you want me to pay to rest the dumb percentage, not this guy haha I’ll be posting the video of me changing the brakes soon the hard way I only figured out how to do this after I was done changing all the pads because I kept messing with it

That’s correct this should allow you to compress the rear pistons so you can fit the new pads on without the tool or removing the motor. No scan tool either because your manually putting it in Service Brake Mode when you press and hold the button for 16 seconds. Let me know if all of this works for you so we all know if it’s accurate or not. I wasn’t able to find out because I didn’t put my truck in service mode so I can’t say this 100% works. I only found out how to put the truck into BSM after I did the job and researched online.
I went after the front brake replacement like I would on my 15’ by removing everything. Realized that they are very dissimilar and looked on TH-cam. Saw this video, tried to put in SVC mode (with caliper off) and blew a piston out of the caliper. I just replaced the caliper and bled the brakes but it’s looking like I’m going to have to take it to the dealership. TC, ESB, Trailer break, ABS; ALL malfunctioning. If only I would have gotten on TH-cam sooner

Hey man thank you for sharing your story with us I actually did something very similar lucky I didn’t have to replace caliber or piston but now I have updated the comments and the video description because of you hope everything is fixed with your truck now.
did all that and changed front and rear brakes. When i came back out i reset the pad wear and only the back reset . The front did not. I dont know how to reset the front it wont let me.
Same here , dealership didn’t know how to fix it I’m guessing maybe a bad sensor was installed or I fried something and the module tripped out reading the life going backwards Just did spark plugs and again all lights back on lol f-@:$:)
Hello, how can I activate the service mode to be able to carry out work on the Adblue system since I have changed the Adblue pump and to be able to do the reset it asks to activate the service mode
Do you have to take the motor off to get the caliber off to replace the pads? I went to change my brakes yesterday and clearly watched the wrong videos cause I didn’t think it was this difficult lol. I can’t seem to find a good video for our model replacing the pads
Hey Nathan if you don’t put it in brake service mode yes you have to remove the electrical parking brake motor then you have to wind the piston back manually with a hex socket or You can also use a universal disc brake caliper wind back tool kit I will be posting the video of how I did it soon
When my light starts flashing I release the brake and push the button one more time then the flashing light just turns off. I’ve tried this a hundred times and it refuses to stay in service mode.

Keeps happening to me, I serviced a couple of these trucks and only successfully put it into brake service mode 1 time.

this is only for the rear brakes,Front brakes are a piece of cake, no need to do anything just replace.

Didn't work for me. Your process is the same as others on here, though most did not do it with the vehicle running. Not sure why mine doesn't work.
