- “Amazing Discoveries” was a late-night insomniac fueled INFOMERCIAL! Before the internet, Before QVC, and Before Billy Maze … Mike Levy (1948 - 2003,) was “America’s Pitch Man” for products “As Seen On TV” you see in today’s retail.
Most of these clips aired between 1989 - 1992 when cable networks signed off the air at midnight!
I’ve watched every Amazing Discoveries episode and this is one of my favorites. So chaotic. Nonstop audience reacting and overlapping dialogue. It’s as if everyone did a line in their car before coming into the studio. Love it.
You just know there was a huuuuge pile of cocaine backstage.
My parents worked nights when I was a kid, so I used to stay up all night watching Nick at Nite and then infomercials. So many of them are burned into my memory. I can’t remember basic facts, but I’ve never forgotten that nasty ass mashed potato and tuna concoction.
And Mike’s “mom” is hilarious. She sounded like Lucille Ball with that raspy smoker’s voice.
Everyone would clap at home when the audience clapped. crazy 1990 behviour!
Look at the BLOO-burries. The BLOO-burries Mike!
You like that fudgy bit in the middle?
The word you're looking for is "raw", Ian.
I was about 11 years old when these infomercials aired. I used to watch it Saturday mornings (instead of Saturday morning cartoons) I was a weird kid, lol
LeGrille? What the hell is that!?
1990 when margarine was considered more healthy than butter.
“I feel like I’m in a French restaurant” !!
Come on Mike and Ian,
That's a sandwich maker.
Le snack...
If that English dude says "Mike" one more gdamn time im gonna snap.
Mike...
30 year later the Sandwich Squeezer is about $15, the Grater about $2, the Mixer about $3. so $20 in 2020 was about $10 in 1990.
Who was the person in charge of wardrobes? Mike looks like he got blurred
Stuffed French Toast doesn’t take hours, it takes weeks!
@21:22 it sounded like Mike was calling it Snackmaster, but the audio dropped out
Sounds like he said Lesnack to me.
I agree. I heard him say snack and then it was muted.
That's a better name than "le snack" 😅
Thermatron
I lived through the war on left overs.... many died for that great cause.....
You gotta love Ian Long!
Remember the CHEWNA we mixed with the old potatoes ?
I love how robotic the audience was on these shows. I get they are paid to react a certain way, but its hilarious to think that simple things amaze them so easily.
After 10 yrs of Reagan and Bush, a lot of People were like Trained Seals
@@pjimmbojimmbo1990 Lol Regan and Bush saved the entire planet. Learn you some real history, libtard.
“In Le Snack there is nothing difficult whatsoever about cooking anything”
It does make good Pot/Hash Brownies
I didn’t quite catch the hosts first name, what is it? 😂
Mike Levey
I’m going to throw away my oven.
QVC & HSN came long before these commercials
I like that mixer thing
Ooh la la!
Ian has Liverpool accent or?
He's from Yorkshire, similar accent to mine and I'm from Bradford
@@Laura-qy2ec Thanks! Confusing to a non-english...When I said Liverpool accent, I didn't mean the strong Scouse, but rather the "lighter version" which many Liverpudlians do speak...
@@mrn13 that's nice, this is a Yorkshire accent though.
:/
