@@HitManRickyTan Finally listened to the bad wolves cover. I didn't enjoy it, it just felt boring, no soul. I also didnt like that they changed the line to say "drones" instead of "guns," which was an obvious jab at America, and considering the original song was written about the IRA in Ireland, terrorists mind you, I cant help but think the band was trying to imply America as being terrorists... perhaps im over analyzing.
I thought the same, it´s a song that isn´t easily covered, the balance to "stay"/keep up with the original and yet to create something new is imense, but it was smooth mastered ^^
Noob Sandwich, I don't think the band implies that, but now that you mentioned: USA made up lies to invade and start wars in several countries (see Irak and the Bush administration), they murdered many innocent people in other countries. They even murdered their own people systematically by the police (many things just come out because there are cameras now). The only difference between terrorists is that USA is a big country and has more power and can cover these things up easily.
You can feel the emotion in this cover. She made it her own, and delivered it in a powerful way. There are a few good covers, and this one nailed it. Miss you, Dolores.
I really love how this one has more lament than the original. As others said, the original was outrage at the conflict, but this is the mourning that follows it. I didn't even make it to the first chorus before I started to tear up. This will always be one of the most important songs in my life, it made me want to write music, and this is hands down my favorite take on it.
Consider the struggle from which Soul music sprang. From my understanding as an outsider, looking in from a position of deep appreciation and respect for the art form, there are deep parallels between the African American experience and the Troubles of Ireland. If there were any style that could truly express the pain and fury this song is made of, it would be Soul.

The cover that Bad Wolves did was pretty close too. Bad Wolves and Delores were supposed to be doing a collaboration version of this song, when she tragically passed right before the recording. Bad Wolves went ahead and released their own cover in her memory. It is pretty damn good, just like this one.

The performance of this is beautiful and hits right to the heart. Anyone who reads this? Please understand that this song is specifically about an IRA bombing that killed two boys, ages 3 and 12, the latter had to be taken off life support by his family 5 days after the attack because he never had any real brain function from head trauma. At least one of them had been out shopping for a mother's day card, possible both depending on where you read. As much as the original version flat out screams anger and pain? It sounds like discomfort and just a little bit of anger. Jesus... Songs don't make me cry often but this really got me

Cranberries. Bad Wolves. And now this. Each speak from a different perspective. Cranberries with awareness. Bad Wolves with rage and anger. This one with sadness and lamentation. All three powerful. All three reduced me to tears.
Going through the PMJ archives again (for fun and feels): This is one of those rare jewels of a video where I wish I could give more than the one like I did, back when it first gave me chills.
I've watched this video maybe two dozen times and I can't stop crying every time I hear it. I know young guys teenage and college age and just pray so hard that they will never be drawn into war. They've no idea what it's like because we don't teach history well. I hope we're not condemned to repeat the past.
You aren’t drawn into war. Good men go to protect those who can’t or won’t. Being overseas there is true evil. I pray that we can keep it away. I fight for that. I do not conjure philosophy assuming purity will always prevail. Stand and do something for others. That is the true draw to war. A true test you’ll never learn in a classroom or a book. I pray God blesses you and your family.
Maiya Sykes vocal performance of this song is brilliantly heart wrenching.I think she captures the emotional essence of the tune. Fantastic. Thank you Miss Sykes
I’m a grown man but I can’t help crying when I hear this song and now especially with the context of wars raging in Ukraine, Gaza, Ethiopia and many other places. Why? The waste. The suffering. The poverty that results for years afterwards. I wish I hadn’t listened to it again now so near bedtime in my nice warm secure house.
This is by far my favourite cover, nothing will take away from the orginal due to the sheer raw emotion the song was written about. But this cover is something else and I've listened to it about 100 and could listen another 100. What a beautiful voice this lady has

I've been waiting for this fitting tribute to Dolores for a while now. Thank you Maiya, it was an absolutely beautiful arrangement, made slightly more special by Scott choosing not to play piano! You guys, put the CLASS in ... PMJ.
Either that guy don't know the context of the song and is not fluent in English, or just bad at jokes. Either way, calm it down a notch and let us appreciate this great performance.
Speaking as one that grew up in Ireland, and knowing the deep-rooted meaning of the song makes this version just as powerful. Incredible. Whenever you sing it you just can't help putting the emotion into it. Absolutely fantastic.
I've come to the PMJ party late, as I'm not a huge fan of cover/tribute bands, but as I work my way through the PMJ catalogue, this has to be one of the most powerful performances PMJ has put together. Well done, Ms Sykes. Dolores would've been chuff to bits by this, I'm sure.
This song is so transcendent. Dolores sings it and I hear a young Irish woman mourning the cost of a rebel bombing. Maiya sings it and I hear a Black mother holding the body of her son after yet another police shooting. Tommy Vext sings it and I hear a soldier grieving for his lost innocence and brothers in arms. They are all perfect. They are all heartbreaking.
How about something more realistic on the end of that, a mother holding the body of her son after another random shooting by others in her community with illegal guns. And the tragedy of that he isn't the first son she's lost to the streets. That's the reality I see.
DanOfTheWild do you not think that even if people of colour are more likely to commit those crimes, it’s because of the socio-economic issues in society which push them to do so, such as the difficulty of getting a quality education.
DanOfTheWild I believe most development is attributed to the area not the people, for example Europe and Asia have many livestock such as horses, cows, pigs, chickens etc which can be domesticated allowing for static development, whereas places like Africa have very few animals which could be domesticated
I remember when PMJ released this cover... I was left speechless... I mean, I knew she could sing, and that Scott Bradlee does amazing arrangements but nothing prepared me for the full range of emotions, and the tears that just poured... this version touches and awakens the very fibers of your soul. One of my favorites from PMJ
Because of Dolores' orginal and haunting vocals, this is such a difficult song to cover, even--no--ESPECIALLY when adapted to fit another genre. However, this is the cover that I believe nails it. Seriously, y'all keep doing what you do; y'all have some great potential. 🤘
Dolores O Riorden, was born 5 miles from my house. I know her family. Great friends with her niece, actually hooked up with her one night. This song holds a very special place in my heart and my head. Sometimes when I'm on a quiet road. I sing this with tears rolling down my face, ugly crying.
This is a spectacular performance all the way around. Every member does a great job.I really want to shout out to Cameron Johnson on that muted trumpet, though.
Her voice is so heavenly and the music in incredible. I can not stop listening to these incredible people. Keep up the fantastic work and keep of giving.
Mayia, You are a powerful singer, Love your voice and this version of Zombie, This has a lot of feeling and emotion, that you can hear in your voice. Beautiful job all around!!
I don't often comment on videos but your cover of this amazing song is a beautiful version of it. It moves my soul as good music should and I hope everyone appreciates it as much as I have. 💙
I cannot put into words how deeply moved I am by this performance. In the climate of conflict this year in the US, where young people are gunned down and churches attacked, I hear the words with renewed meaning. I think of today's mother losing a child to racist violence. I think of people who live by the gun and I wonder what-the-hell is in their head! It is the same old thing since nineteen sixteen, or is it now Juneteenth. Thank you, Russel B, for the original intent and motivation for the song. The song and this performance are a great work of art, and a declaration against war, violence, and gun addiction. Thank you. gratefully.
Such a powerful voice! Even though she keeps it restrained at first, you just know she's sitting on a volcano and you can't wait for her to eventually let it rip! Lovely interpretation too. Sorrowful. Really captures the heartache behind the lyrics.
Amazingly powerful performance. Ms. Sykes gave the same energy to this that Ms. Riordan gave to the original, IMHO, as the lyrics fit so much of our present American "troubles'. Thanks to you all for this.
I don't comment often but today I feel like I have to... Besides the fact that Lady Maiya Sykes changed the word "breaking" to "broken" in the second verse, giving the song a strong mourning/grief feel that her absolutely amazing voice renders perfectly (no, no, I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweaty...) and that she is stunningly georgous in this dress, can we just take a moment to praise her for the fantastic job she did in arranging this already masterpiece of Music (yes, with a capital M) and make it her own? Miss Sykes, you are a true gem!!! Your voice, your talent, the emotions you pass onto your singing, your beauty... The whole YOU is the most perfect treasure there is!!! I'm glad I discovered PMJ a few years back and I came across your job with them. Thank you so much!!!
i'd love a PMJ Maiya Sykes playlist! She sings so amazingly. Years ago i heard her when PMJ was at Amsterdam Paradiso. The whole show was fantastic. Her performance of Creep was just outstanding.
Whatever Maiya Sykes does changes your guts in a lake of fire and makes it overflow from your eyes. And when she stops singing I always say "Oh, but is it already finished?"
Look, I'm a fan of PMJ, no doubt. But this, my sweet word, this was gorgeous. That muted brass sound weaving around Ms. Sykes' soaring, warm melody was particularly sumptuous. Thank you for this. Unexpected and so satisfying.
Every time I listen to this, I'm just blown away by her vocal control. Maiya Sykes has some serious skill. I think Dolores O'Riordan would be proud to have another artist honor her song in such an amazing way.
with nearly 6 million fews there are just 90 thousand people liking that vid? come on what's wrong with you, TH-cam? besides that this song is more actual then ever and the performance is absolute fabulous!

A human's song of lamentation may sound different depending on where they're from, but every lamentation should break your heart. Chills. Well done.
Dolores O Riorden, was born 5 miles from my house. I know her family. Great friends with her niece, actually hooked up with her one night.
This song holds a very special place in my heart and my head. Sometimes when I'm on a quiet road. I sing this with tears rolling down my face, ugly crying.
Lucky dog!
This is a spectacular performance all the way around. Every member does a great job.I really want to shout out to Cameron Johnson on that muted trumpet, though.
Her voice is so heavenly and the music in incredible. I can not stop listening to these incredible people. Keep up the fantastic work and keep of giving.
She is just amazing! Her voice has just completely floored me. Wow! 💙💙
Это просто невероятно! Спасибо за то, что показали силу искусства. Это одно из лучших исполнений, что я когда-либо слышал. Мое восхищение!
OMG she makes me cry, she is amazing, all of you guys. This is an amazing work. Im waching all the videos and I can't stop
I have yet to be disappointed by anything PMJ has done. This is certainly no exception. The heartfelt soul Maiya conveys is just beyond words.
Thank you. gratefully.
Simply beautiful. Completely different mood than the Cranberries song but the same impact. Fantastic.
Holy cow. This brought tears to my eyes. Unbelievably moving rendition.
Had to listen to it a few times. Such a great version. Love the trumpet, brilliant addition.
Beautiful
R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan
Such a powerful voice! Even though she keeps it restrained at first, you just know she's sitting on a volcano and you can't wait for her to eventually let it rip! Lovely interpretation too. Sorrowful. Really captures the heartache behind the lyrics.
This cover gave me goosebumps. So chillingly beautiful.
Maiya has a wonderful voice and I love the muted trumpet. One of the best PMJ covers by my reckoning.
There’s no shortage of Zombie covers. Done better than others.
None better than this.
Maiya Sykes is so incredible...
To say this version is AWESOME!! is an understatement! Beautiful! Haunting!
Always loved this song. I feel the pain of the lyrics in a different way. Beautiful cover.
This is excellent. I can't even put into words how good this is. Wow. Thank you for performing this.
omg her voice tho... a spiritual experience listening to her, sweet jesus
All I can say is WOW, WHAT A VOICE. This lady is EVERYTHING!!!!
The second she opened her mouth and started singing, I got chills......and goosebumps.......and wanted to cry.
i'd love a PMJ Maiya Sykes playlist! She sings so amazingly. Years ago i heard her when PMJ was at Amsterdam Paradiso. The whole show was fantastic. Her performance of Creep was just outstanding.
I saw this live in concert before the video and it took my breath away. It warmed my heart how this song was mastered. Thank you PMJ!
her voice is soothing and so beautiful.❤
Hermosa versión, un fanático de Cranberries y de Dolores, mi adolescencia fue escuchando esta banda.
My god... How has this woman not got a million pound record deal yet?!
Pure lamentation. Beautifully done.
Sometimes in life there aren't the words to describe what you are experiencing - this is one of those
That Voice is unbelievable! Amazing Reinterpretation of the Song!
So appropriate for today. How beautifully done with such passion!
I loved the Cranberries so much when i started college. She was so beautiful and talented. I wept when I heard of her passing. Rip Dolores! Love you!
Is it even possible to watch this video and not cry? I came looking for good song covers didn't expect to get in my feelings like this.
Damn....I mean Damn you guys did something amazing hear. Mrs. Sykes your talent is apparent and awesome. Sing on
My heart hurt a little more with every note.
Simply stunning. Well done.
Thank you for this 💔
Shalom. This song has a new meaning today.
The real power of this song is in the vocals. Maiya Sykes delivers
Gorgeous work, very moving
Best zombie cover I've ever heard
Bought my daughter tickets to see PMJ in Norwich England as a birthday present this year…..she simply said….amazing!!!!
Every time I listen to this, I'm just blown away by her vocal control. Maiya Sykes has some serious skill. I think Dolores O'Riordan would be proud to have another artist honor her song in such an amazing way.
Brought a tear to my eye. Beautifully done.
What bravery to take this song on.....a great job Maiya
Crap, that made me tear up...Amazing voice and one of the most charged, emotional songs from the early 90s.
with nearly 6 million fews there are just 90 thousand people liking that vid? come on what's wrong with you, TH-cam? besides that this song is more actual then ever and the performance is absolute fabulous!
I cried for weeks, listening daily, until I could hear the song....sans tears.... Then I allowed myself to listen. What an absolute soul touch... Thank you to all involved... For touching us all with the pain of...
I don't even know how to put my deepest respect for this amazing use of vocal ability.
