I had AFib off and on for about nine years and kept it under control with metoprolol and eliquis. Two and a half years ago I had sudden cardiac arrest and no heartbeat for 15 minutes. It is a miracle I am here now and ok. I had an ablation two years ago and I have not had any more AFib in almost two years now.

Where did your heart beat stop for 15 min. You were lucky for someone to give you CPR for 15 minutes. How did they get your heart re-started. Why did it quit.

@@larrycone8821 Ablation is a catheter-based out-patient procedure where a portion of the atria is either heated or frozen enough to 'break the circuit' of the bad electrical impulses. It seems to be the most effective surgical treatment and has a very good ( > 80% ) success rate, especially the younger the patient.

Good video. As one who has been recently been diagnosed with AFIB I got very lucky as my test showed a very low level of magnesium. 400 mg of magnesium glycinate keeps the AFIB in check as my Coreg was practically useless. A plus of the magnesium is that my blood pressure is normal and negates the Coreg use. Hopefully everything stays normal.

This is a decent video. But he's been doing afib for too long to keep refusing to include the afib cause of not having enough phosphorus or electrolytes in your diet. Most people can be very depleted of the electrolyte Potassium, because, even in a regular & prosperous western diet, people can easily not prefer eating from a good source of it. With that said, your body reclaims electrolytes and phosphorus from the intestines; but it still slowly depletes of them because your body doesn't reclaim them perfectly. So, you are getting rid of them little by little into the toilet. Anyway back to Potassium: Two bananas only have 4% of what you need daily. Potatoes and "cooked" spinach are exceptional sources of increased potassium, as well as black and pinto beans (15 oz can give you about 30% of your RDI). And, if you don't have adverse reactions to tomatoes or tomato paste, a 1/4 cup of tomato paste, three times a day will give you just over 100% (1944 mg) Potassium. Now that I've told you about Potassium, you also need to know about Phosphorus. Phosphorus is harder to neglect, but still possible. If you only eat about 3 things on average, you can be too low on Phosphorus. EVERY single muscle in your body requires phosphorus to work; its almost like an electrolyte in that sense. So, anybody too low on Phosphorus, is going to die of a heart attack eventually... because they don't have enough Phosphorus or Potassium. I already told you how to get Potassium, but now I'll tell you a few foods rich in Phosphorus: walnuts, almonds, chicken, tuna (even canned), and canned soups with beef. IRONICALLY many people who believe they eat better, don't eat a dynamic enough diet to get their RDI (their Recommended Daily Intake) ...and I say "ironically" because alot of junk food & fast food is actually often fortified with Phosphorus.

What about vagal afib? I recently read that a study of men who started doing triathlons in their 40s and 50s had a 500 to 800% greater chance of developing vagal afib. Good Video, and yes, probably a few things missing there, but you cant always cover everything all the time!
But I found one part very interesting....trigger points around the pulmonary vein...how would you treat that?
I know a bit about muscular function and what causes them to become dysfucntional!
My story always leads to a dead end and no answer :(
Enlarged heart at the age of 4, SVT (240 bpm in my sleep at times) for years until I stabilised in AFib around the age of 10. Facilitated by a 1980s cocktail of Digoxin and Propanolol, mostly asymptomatic for as log as I can remember.
Took asprin for the obvious reasons from age 18 to age 35, but never any evidence of clots found on any tests, including, TOE.
I am nearly 48, more healthy than I have ever been, Echo and Cardiac MRI look good, take 10mgs of Bisoprolol each day and no anticoagulants.
Of course, Cardioversion failed miserably like my doctors and I knew.
Any wisdom from the good Doc or anyone here as to how Ive apparently dodged multiple bullets and have every Electro/Cardiac specialist in Ireland and beyond scrathing their heads?

Many people can curb their Afib by supplementing with potassium and magnesium. The two nutrients essential for normal heart rhythm. I used to get Afib a lot. This is what I used to take for it, coconut water. The real coconut water with 700 to 800mg of potassium. It is rich in potassium and magnesium. What really helped was cutting back on my alcohol consumption.

@@Lisa-fe5uh I’m guessing it will cut into their profits. Before I turned my back on doctors, I had two conversions and one ablation. After the ablation, I decided to study it on my own. In the first 10mins, I discovered magnesium and potassium are the essential minerals for normal heart rhythm. Magnesium didn’t seem to help, potassium is hard to find as a supplement, most are just 99mg and somewhat dangerous to take in pill form. I finally found that coconut waters had significant potassium. My first time I drank two and in two hours I was back in normal rhythm. I don’t know why, but it seems hard to get the word out.

My physicians couldn't figure out the cause and were planning to start me on a drug. I was only 40 at the time. I figured it out myself by chance - I had started using non-sugar Metamucil, once I stopped taking it, the afib converted in a day or two. I agree with everything you say, doctor, and believe these all cause afib, but the number one condition in 95% of people is Vagus nerve and electric activities from the left Appendage. Most afib comes from the top of the heart. All the nerves are on top. Why would you burn the inside when the pulmonary veins are silent. You are trying to burn up to those nerves. In some cases, it works because you reach them by almost burning through the veins and reaching the top, but you are in reality just burning muscle. The top is where 95% of people have this problem. This is why most people need 2,3,4, and even 5 ablations. Can you imagine what a heart looks like after you burned it 2 times?

@@RobDaman I agree now. But eventually it won't be. How long that is I am not sure but I would think by mid year if you are near a big city it should be available. I was a little naive to how long it would take to approve the commercialize in the US. EU has been using it for over a year.

I am also healthy and clean living - my Echo shows a NORMAL heart - 4 months ago I began to experience persistent arrhythmia (after a fall) - went to the Dr and diagnosed with Afib. I am asymptomatic - still walk 8-10 miles/day as well as workout on my rowing machine, elliptical & bicycle (67 years young). Not overweight, no diabetes or high blood pressure. Please educate me as regards Pulse Field Ablation - I am not in a hurry, but I realize that over time, Afib may damage my healthy heart - thanks for posting!

    Mine is almost completely symptonless.
I said my pulse has been irregular for decades = "no it's recent". "We will do cardioversion and you should be all set".
You need cardioversion - What about drugs? = "Drugs don't work".
Cardioversion worked for only six hours = "you need drugs".
"No restrictions, but maybe don't do intense intervals". = My next thing I will try will be intense intervals.
