    Remarkable condition. Dad had one, WCL 872, dark blue with light blue roof. No radio, and I'm fairly sure the side/ indicator lense was round. Had it until '74 when he chopped it for a Cortina 2000E - traveling in style after the Victor! But it was a good car, only let us down once as I recall with a blocked jet - fixed at the side of the A12! Good memories of dad and his Victor, thank you.

      I have had the jet blocked twice. Think there is some muck in the petrol tank, Many thanks john

    Very nice. Brought back childhood memories of my dad's one. His was a base model. No horn ring, no trim round the windows etc. Bermuda blue. reg. 934 BOO. I learned to drive in it and handle the gearchange on the stalk.

    Lovely looking car for its age I had an FB series in 1982 was using it until it had a partial seizure on investigation it had a bent con rod removed that and engine was okay
    Was going to do it up as in my mind it was worth it but unfortunately I moved to Wales and didn't have nowhere to store or repair lovely car to drive

      Additional to my previous message it was a FB vx 4/90.bench seat at the front and floor change lovely car grey with a red stripe I believe it was 4 gears the gear stick did have a lot of play

    Very fond memories there.
    It deserves your TLC mate.
    My parents had this model in Australia, blue with white top.
    My job was to clean and polish it every weekend, which I loved doing.
    We discovered that it's top speed was 78mph!
    We loved the exhaust note but not the second gear synchromesh!
    Great little car.
    We couldn't afford the very smart VX 4/90.

    I had one of these in the late 70s, great ride what with the bench seats and column change, swapped it eventually for a mini traveller.

      To Sean Harding. I can only remember ONE blue, like my neighbour's dad's car. A mid- blue. Timeless colour that will always look good , and I think the biggest seller! I remember superb rides in it! Unfortunately, my eyesight isn't up to the mark enough any more for driving. So my heart just aches and aches to see videos like this.

      @@nygelmiller5293 Sorry to hear about your sight, friend. Yes, I will enjoy more drives in the Victor come the Spring. It does look great in the blue, I must say.

    • @nygelmiller5293

      To Sean Harding from Nygel Miller. Thanks for your welcome sympathy, about my driving days being in the PAST due to slight cataracts. An ex-girlfriend had an operation for that, and in her case it DID hurt, and didn't improve anything anyway! I'm lucky that since had problems, I have by co-incidence got a BUS STOP outside where I now live! And the joke is, that because my favourite limousine of all time, is the Rolls-Royce SILVER SPIRIT, THAT would be alright to drive. Because, you see it has a wooden dashboard. I mean, because if I clipped cyclists, I could always use the wooden dashboard, to carve notches in, to "keep score"!

    Lovely car John. Very good condition for it's age. I do like the older Vauxhalls, the two tone paint scheme really gives it character. Shame about the seats though.

    • @johncottonclassics

      Yes the more I get in to it ,the better I find the condition. Seats are a bit of a problem, Might have to bite the Bullet and get them done, Cheers John

    Great cars! Owned a red one just like the one featured and then a grey one with grey leather seats. Recall spending all day repairing the cills on the grey one and thought I would put it up on some ramps. Misjudged it and went over the top - cills didn't like it!!!!

    Nice car, it reminded me of my dad's F B Victor it was light blue with blue interior. I'm sure it said "deluxe" on the back but I could be wrong. It didn't have leather though like yours . Is the super a superior model. Anyway it's great to see yours the condition is amazing really considering how they used to rust.

    • @nygelmiller5293
      @nygelmiller5293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To David Allum.I always thought the DELUXE had floor gearchange and leather seats. The grille as far as I know, is from a SUPER. I imagine it may be a SUPER, and have leather seats from a DELUXE, and bumpers (with over-riders) from a DELUXE. But they were ALL such nice versions, that it is actually nice to have one that is a bit of ALL of them!

    • @HowardLeVert
      @HowardLeVert 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nygelmiller5293 The 'Super' was below the 'Deluxe' - but a four-speed floor change was an option as our Super had it. The Deluxe models had a wood dash whilst the Supers were pressed aluminium. There was also a basic Victor below the Super model.

    The Vauxhall Victor FB was not as stylish as the previous American styled F series, and looked similar to its bigger brother the PB Velox and Cresta. In competition with the Mk1 Ford Cortina, Hillman Super Minx/ Singer Vogue, and Austin Cambridge/ Morris Oxford.

    • @johncottonclassics
      @johncottonclassics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the Victor was a stylish, based on American cars of the 50s, with the rear wings .By the views60s Vauxhall followed the trend of not having the rear wings. I think the FB is still a stylish car. Many thanks for your views.
