If the flight is delayed then why should you turn up at the original time? Just wasting everyone's time. The supervisor's excuse sounds like BS, they know the flight is late so just do the headcount etc late as well.
Just despicable. I think security should have thrown them out of the airport for that. I am not going to any airport if I have to deal with such morons. Fortunately, I haven't run into anyone who had a meltdown within 1-2 meters of me!
This was one of the most angering things to happen when I used to work in an airport. People would look on the website, see their flight was delayed and then decide to turn up late, but the check in times didn’t change so when they turned up late they couldn’t board the flight. These passengers shouldn’t have been able to get a flight that night because they knowingly tried to go against the airport rules by storming past the check in counter, today they’d be arrested or at least banned from flying for the night because you can’t allow anyone to fly if they kick off like this.
Hmm...when I was in dubai airport last year that's EXACTLY what happened. Groups of people with skull caps barging everyone or of the way, even at the body scanners
If they tried to breach security, I think they should have been banned from flying for a set time period. You'd get banned from driving for offences of the same severity, take their flying privileges for a few months.
I dont think walking through slowly is really trying to breach anything they stopped when the security guards told them too. Everyone wants to make everything sound worse than it is
And she voiced her opinion that they could be let on so the people could hear. Totally unprofessional and probably helped inflame the situation. Wonder if she got reprimanded?
ikr they should have, instead they are getting their way. This teaches people that if you yell and shout, you'll get things, while if they would have just politely understood, they would have had to wait. Nice way to reward that kind of behaviour -.-

Can’t believe the comments backing the airline here. Clearly the passengers were given incorrect info and this was Easyjets fault. If it was one or two people fair enough, but theres 9 of them! That suggests they were given wrong info. And because they kicked up such a stink they won in the end because easyJet mysteriously put another flight on for them. An airline in the wrong would not do that. Fair play to these passengers for not backing down!
Agreed. The ones defending the airline are obviously not frequent travelers and have no idea how often airlines screw up and how poorly some of them treat their customers.
She is right even if they say it is delayed you still have to check in on time. I was told my flight was delayed, but it took off on time. Good thing for me I was there and checked in. I wonder why the airline would even send out a notice of a flight delay, they would still tell you to check in on time or risk losing your seat.
Woman at the desk didn’t help, even if she thought they could’ve gone on it was giving them false hope telling them out loud making them even more determined to get on the plane
the flight was delayed one hour but the check in was shut right on time regardless of the new timetable, that was the problem. the air company is a bad ass
When I used to watch this back in the day I couldn’t help thinking that sometimes easyJet staff were playing to the camera by ‘not letting someone board because of small spelling mistake on the paperwork’ and similar stuff, but when I’m flying I make sure to get there in time
Regardless, whether the plane is going to be delayed or not, you should always get there early like at least 2 hours before your flight. Thats how it goes in this society. If you don't like it, then go challenge the airline or Aviation authority in this case CAA, and take it to the court.
Even if a flight is going to be delayed, you still have to check in on time, for short delays they can help make up the time by ensuring everyone is ready to board the minute the aircraft is ready. "There's an extra flight tonight..." They board the plane and it's an autopilot to fly straight into the English Channel.
My expert analysis: The passengers got word it wouldn't be a problem if they're late (because another flight was scheduled soon after the one they booked onto). That communication wasn't given to the front desk hence the arguments. Airlines fault for lack of communication between staff.
Stress makes people behave in strange ways. They are not necessarily bad people , they have certain expectations and can't handle the change. However charging through security is arrogant
The way this group acted AND tried to storm past security like it was no big deal. They shouldn't have been allowed on that next flight PERIOD!!!!! Also I DARE them to try that in Canada/ US, one way ticket to the no-fly list
Because of air travel safety anyone who kicks off so agressivly prior to a flight should be banned for life from flying on any airline. Would you want that passenger sitting next to you on a flight if he was unhappy with something mid air.
That doesn't really make any sense. An illegal migrant might intentionally become aggressive as a means to not be deported back to their own country. If you create an air travel safety law to ban aggressive passengers from flying for life this means you won't be able to expel illegal immigrants back to their country. If in such circumstance you suggest to simply place them in jail behind bars that's also not a solution as it costs government and tax payers money. And the prison cells would not be able to accommodate real criminals while all the illegals are occupying them.
Everyone’s against him they called the airline saying they were running late and easyjet said it’s okay because the flights delayed but when they got there the flight had left early which is kind of unreliable.
That guy shouting and point his finger in her face would have been on the ground missing teeth if I’d been there. No one has the right to be that threatening to someone just trying to do their job.
They got on the flight because they realized they could drop the technicalities and actually fulfil the service these passengers were expecting. The plane was delayed , employees could have maneuvered them onto the flight , so they did. Extra flight? probably an I-transfer. Airlines sometimes have to move planes, usually empty, from station to station to meet needs of the following day. Those passengers are bloody lucky EasyJet found some flight attendants to crew the flight.
If every plane waited for delayed flights it would worse chaos than before. I was bounced from a flight in NZ as ours was delayed. It was boarding but our bags had been unloaded, not transferred.
