Just a quick reminder, the Maverick Quantum RX is fitted with a Hobbywing 4S system, costs £224 & has nifty belted tyres.! I've geared mine up & it does 58mph now.!
sadly has some downsides, in my country the spare suppert is not the best, maybe now. The bearing are not stainless and, as a old video showed, they seize up really quick. In my country costs 319 euros, 50 less than the traxxas. As a starter i would go for a traxxas, as someone with a decent experience maverik make still more sense!😊
@@simracingchannel7691I can't remember mate, I think it was something like an 18 tooth. I do remember having to make the motor mount holes a bit bigger with a file. I also set the rear suspension preload all the way down (hard) & the fronts almost all the way up (soft) to get it to handle better. It won't lose control under full acceleration & it won't spin out so easily.! 😉
Thinking about getting this model as a second one to my 2s-bls stempede. That's my biggest concern. That it's not enough to drive real off-road .. just maybe a bit bumpy asphalt streets.
I think the vxl would be great if you had a friend with one and raced them together. Wish they had a light kit option aswell. Might get the VXL and add the centre diff option.
I have the previous gen rally with VXL upgrade and it never gets stuck like yours - with the added speed and momentum it flies over grass, bumps, and gravel. The new body without posts is nice but it's just a question of whether you buy the vxl or upgrade motor and esc yourself...running at 2s is a non starter. It is looking somewhat overpriced these days regardless.
i think it looks incredible but maybe performance is a bit underwhelming for the price. i do really like rally cars the new citroen mjx looks really good. great review mate
I REALLY hope that Traxxas updated the slipper clutch and bearing on this thing as it was prone to melting on the old one. If they did indeed upgrade that part, I would definitely be interested in picking up one of these to run along side my old ST Rally. If Traxxas didn't then it brings up the question of what else they cut corners on, if an upgrade is available yet, and what other weak links in the chain will need to be addressed. One thing about Traxxas is they can do some things really well, and then on the same vehicle do something else that really leaves me wondering what the hell they were thinking. Like the old slipper clutch for example! LOL! The old ST Rally was a 4WD Slash with a rally car body. They can be made scorching fast with a motor and electronics swap, plus an upgrade to run 4s batteries. However the kind of driving you were doing in this video is really the limit for its off-road capabilities I've found out, at least on the old version. Looks like that applies to the new one as well. Will be keeping an eye on other reviews and if it is up to par will probably look at getting one as we head into summer.
This definitely has potential and off road where I ran it is probably the upper limits of what this can do. Its not as capable as the higher CG trucks but still good fun. I would recommend people to get the VXL if budget can stretch.
I really like the Rally but I have the last one made. I up graded to a Castle system 3800kv. Aluminum shaft and 32 pitch clutch. I'm still under the new VXL price.
The clipless body looks really nice, but the value just isn't there, Arrma Gorgon does 24 mph stock for €160 and it's a really fun RC And for sure if you want a larger rally car, Maverick Quantum RX Flux for €250 is pretty much unbeatable as it comes with a Hobbywing Max10 combo stock!
Maybe you could help me out. I'm trying to fix my dboot hoons to this new car. I've got the Traxxas 17mm hex adapters. They just don't seen to fit on the heavy-duty drive shafts. The inner nut just seems a little to short.
I agree its slow out the box but in terms of quality, parts support and upgradeability this will win every time. You cant compare a budget brand to a premium brand. Its like night and day. I do love MJX and they are the best these days in the budget market.
Yeah I've ordered the MJX 14303 instead not perfect, especially the bad steering links but can be upgraded still far cheaper and much faster, better looking and with lights and lots of wheels extra
The price...i just bought a 1/10 absima touring car 540motor for 150eur with parts available really cheap and not brand owned only...its not a bad rc but fornthe price they should at least have a brushless system
I respect your review and opinions, but.. I'll go for the HPI WR8 or the Maverick instead. It's not a bad car by any means, just not a Traxxas fan. Cheers!
That is a nice looking car, say what you want about Traxxas but in my opinion they do make a premium product, expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for, good video my friend 👍
I got the vxl.. and im to scared to run it.. it was so expensive.. ive done some upgrades to it but never ran it.. i have a slash 4x4 i got on ebay for 150 bucks thats the one that get bashed.. because of it being almost 500 bucks after tax i dont want to scratch it lol
Thanks mate, But I'd choose the HPI Maverik 1/8 4s FLUX any day for half the price. I have 3 of em ... with a few tweaks they are sick!! - This is disappointing from Traxxass
Honestly i can think of way faster and probably cheaper like the team corally jambo or the arma infraction 3s they both are 399 so for lile a extra 40 pound you can get big fast and nice looking rc cars i mean there are way more options not hating on this car i mean it is nice but i think we can all agree on more power out of the box 👍
Not gonna lie. I am not a fan of the Traxxas liveries. I find the style somewhat repulsive . Traxxas have yet to release something to impress me in recent years. Yes their RCs drive ok. But… I don’t know … maybe the looks just put me off . Thanks for the vid anyway mate . Great as always .
Maverik has lots of downsides... spare parts, bearing non stainless etc. This is a bulletproofcar for the money, u can easily overgear it and reach for sure at least 30 mps and more with an high discharge lipo.
For sure. We all need to remember this is expensive because its considered a premium product! More premium than the maverick! Although i do wish it was a little cheaper
remember though kris that's 1/14 scale, not waterproof and spares/upgrades arent as readily available as a major brand like traxxas. I have that Citroen on the way for review.. stay tuned!
@@beyondRC Hyper Go line are very good too. Buy one and you will be surprised by how solid and quality it feels, only about $150 too I own an xmaxx so I'm not a hater! 😉
@@beyondRC Awesome. If you haven't already, try the WL Toys 124016 on 3s....its brutal. WLT has its problems but I have a soft spot for them and they are cheap to fix. Cheers

Yo bro I kinda forgot about rc I've been busy but what is your best recommendation for a cheap crawler
1/18 Vs 1/10, body pins vs clipless, no comparison, but both 100% Awesome.

Traxxas does make a good looking rally car but with that clearance it may not be much more than a parking lot basher. Nice video.. cool shots.
Thanks 👍
5:32 I've only driven mine on the street and it's mean and handles great! The tires are wearing fast. It's quick! I'm talking about the vxl.

my new vxl threw a rear drive shaft on the first bat pack, but was really fast on 3s. charlie
So half the speed and double the price of an MJX 14303 Citroen rally car. Alrighty then.

@@AsurasWrath164 not in my country. The traxxas fiesta costs almost 400eur with the 550 brushed titan. The brushless is even more expensive.
Wonder what the 2S system would be like with a high tooth pinion. Maybe chuck in a 19t and watch her fly on 2S? ❤

appreciate that, cheers
I'm running a 6s esc and a 2000kv motor from a kronos xtr in mine. Its absolutly stupid fast.
Your buying a 350 quid body shell the rest is painfully out of date.love to see the body on mjx😂

definitely a premium product. People comparing it to MJX etc i think is unfair. one is a budget brand and one is a much higher quality premium brand.

Super cool video! Love the look of this car 😍
I like it great video but I'll stick to tamiya more fun building and painting and putting a motor and esc in that you want

nope! It held up well!!
Quantum rx all day long !
Great for the price
Get a Senton and put the Fiesta body on it Ez
I don't think this car is worth the money, great look and looks strong but slow and expensive for me.
Overpriced for what it has
❤
Way too slow for me … like you said new electronics and it would be fun…
yeah for sure. Like mentioned in the video that's when it becomes a hard choice. an extra £100/$100 for the VXL...
at 2s you get better value from chinese brands
maybe more speed but i am yet to see a Chinese brand offer the same quality and feel. Rlaarlo do come close..

It's a amazingly safe, boring, bland Traxxas that does nothing terrible but excel at nothing also. Traxxas "at least we're tough".
To each his own, this car is a pass for me..
