I’ll be do the timing belt on my 2005 Honda odyssey next week, I got lucky on mine because it was off by 5 teeth and no to mention was a crank no start, used your video on pulling my belt to retime it, now it runs smooth right after I retimed it but she’s cracked and tensioner is worn so replacing it, thanks for this video

Was the check engine light on due to the timing belt jump? Did it have misfires or crank/cam correlation errors.
@jptrainor there were no codes in the ECM
Interesting fact is me and my friends 2000 and 2001 Ex accords and most I’ve seen seem to not have this problem with noisy tensioners much even when they have over 200,000+K miles it’s just a little something I noticed but Later J series do especially the VCM garbage my 2010 coupe EXL J-35 is horrible Honda truly took a great engine and messed it up with that stupid VCM shame on them 🤔

It is obvious the engine jumped time and I am glad you were able to spin the engine with no binding of the valves hitting the pistons. This must not be an Interference Engine?

I believe that tensioner is hydraulic and requires more than normal pressure to move it.

Question sir...I was attempting to do this procedure on my 2011 Pilot. Got the belt on but did not pull the pin on the tensioner because the rear cam when the belt was installed moved a tooth. Trying to align TDC I removed the belt and turned the crank with NO BELT installed 1/4 turn. I now do not know how many rotations I need to get back to TDC. Any guidance would be a blessing. Hope you're doing well and thanks for all your knowledge.
Ichi Go Remove the belt and realign all the marks! then start over it's safer!
Since there was no belt on...can I turn the crank BACKWARDS that 1/4 turn?

You do not want to be looking for that crankshaft pulley key if you notice its gone.

Tensioner is shot. Metal on metal against the pulley.
