Thanks for sharing this video, very informative, great camera work & lighting. I have the exact same car & it's time for timing belt replacement. After watching this video, I feel 100% confident and I know exactly what I have to do. I will call my mechanic to schedule an appointment 👍😬
Hi bud: for the code issue, just turn the key to ignition (do not turn on vehicle) twice. Then, press the volume button for 3 seconds. That will recover your radio without the need of the code.
Great Video. When adding coolant to the engine, it helps to set the Temperature Selector to HOT. Any air bubbles which may be trapped inside the heater core, will come out.
Sir thank you for helping us to learn to change the timing Belt on 2013 Honda Pilot lx. Also thank you for taking patience to show us in detail explaining the each part of the items to be also removed for to install with new parts with the new timing Belt with extra care taken us to aline the two timing marks for two pullies.
Very thorough and detailed presentation. Made it look so easy and straight forward. Always wondered how the timing chain or belt was supposed to be lined back up didn't know there was marks there.
This Honda timing belt is a royal pain in the ass to get remove. 2nd time around for me. I'm using your video as a reference. I almost got out of doing it since my wife had an accident yesterday evening...bumper and driver side quarter panel damaged. She will officially have had all four corners of the car repaired now...horrible driver. She needs a tank. I'm using your video as a reference. Thank you very much!
When the four digit code request comes up, just hold the power/volume button in for a few seconds and it comes back on. I've had to do this when changing a battery in a Honda Pilot.
Dealer wanted $60 to reset it since I didn't have code. You Tube video told me to hold power button in for 30 seconds.....worked again in about 15 seconds....LOL
I've watched two other videos, and one was longer than this one. Both videos had me ready. Unfortunately, they were for the previous year pilot which was 3 parts different. The serpentine idler, the oil sensor in the way, and cover in the wheel well. This video has that I'm it, but you wouldn't have known. Next time, I guess I'll have to watch 10 videos before I work on these new cars.
Your video was very interesting. I've got a 2013 Pilot with 107K on it and will need to be getting this done in the near future. How many hours does this entire process take?
Great video Mr Steve. Learned a lot from watching your video. 🤙🏼. Would you recommend replacing the water pump since everything is exposed? Did you replace it on this video because it was bad?
I always replace the water pump anytime it's driven by the timing belt. Last thing you want to do is having to do the timing belt all over again because the water pump failed 6mo after you did the timing belt. So always replace the water pump at the same time the timing belt is changed.
Thanks Steve for a very professional presentation.Just had the TB tensioner and Timing Belt changed on my 2013 Pilot EX-L.I was getting a loud ticking on cold starts that would go away in a few minutes.Vehicle never threw a code and other than the ticking noise I had no performance issues whatsoever with the vehicle.Got the vehicle back yesterday and noticed that the power and the acceleration is not the same, nor do I feel the presence of the vtec solenoid kicking in.acceleration input is way off based on how the vehicle drove prior to bringing it in to be serviced seems to take more throttle input to get the vehicle moving.Any Ideas on what that could be?
If there is definitely a difference from before binging it in to now. I would bring the concern to the shop. Ticking on the Honda V6 is usually a sign of needing a valve adjustment. So for an idea?.. insay have them make sure the v-tech solenoid is connected and / or not damaged. Other ideas if they gave it an oil change and used the wrong viscosity.
I just did this service on my 2014 Pilot. But I've noticed the water pump is leaking (3000 miles later). Is there something I should look for when i tear it back apart this weekend? I'm not sure where on the pump its leaking from yet. I did use quality Honda parts.
Im sorry to hear this. There no way for me to help you cause I cannot see the leak. One would presume the water pump is ok. But what i recommend is pressure testing the system before taking it all apart to verify the leak.
Hi, yes there is. I couldn't tell you what it is though. I know the tensioner pulley bolt is like 19ftlbs. And the crank pulley bolts is like 230ftlbs. I been doing t-belt so much and so long I personally no longer concern myself with torque values. I just know by experience what is the right tightness to be right. Which is why I never talk torque values in my videos. However I you need the specific values I'm sure u can Google it.
@@androidtab7889 I always use Gates kits.. In my 30 years as a professional mechanic I've never had an issue of any belt failure that was cause by a belt. I even have some cars now returning for their 3rd timing belt.
Honestly I cant remember off the top of my head, but I know most of the Honda's crank bolts take a 19mm hex. I cant remember is it's Honda's or another manufacture, but I know I've also used a 21mm and 22mm on crank pulley bolts. I don't remember exactly what I use. I just use whatever socket fits and just keep going.

Great video ! It helped me a lot to figure out what need to be done. How did you torque the crank pully bolt though ? Did you use torque wrench and finish it with impact ? Or torque wrench all the way?
I always change water pump when they are either driven by the T-belt, or are under the T-belt. If the pump fails after the T-belt was replace, you're forced to do the job again. This video focus was about the timing belt only.. but that water pump was changed.
Basics basics basics. Does it have spark? Does it have fuel injection pulse? When cranking does the engine sound normal. How is compression? Gotta start at the basics.
@@reyjoemonsi9968 ok so now u have a whole bank that is dead. What can cause mechanical failure of 3 cylinder to not have compression? My first suspect is valve train since ur doing the timing belt. Could be gasket sealing at head jacket. What is next is a cylinder leak down test.(Google it if you dont know what that is). That will tel you where the cylinder is leaking from. But if you have cranked the engine ove with timing belt not on right/ off or if belt broke. There is possibility of bent valves.
