Hey Shawn, Loved the "Dad Jokes", no really! You are obviously a perfectionist with all that you do and the finished product shows that! Loved seeing Sully and Miss Martha watching your every step, only occasionally hoping down to inspect the details. Elizabeth, of course, is each postings "Eye Candy", so very lovely and down to earth!
I was feeling sorry for yuns doing everything right on the headliners EXCEPT for using 3M 77 Headliner Glue to put em back together for the last time ! That fabric will stretch and sag, especially if it gets hot ! Love your channel! You guys are brutally honest on what boating really entails !
Elizabeth and Shawn you guys are quite the team ! I hated to see you have to replace the material on the panels, but Shawn gets right on the project and in just hours both of you get it done. It's very interesting watching the projects on the boat and as we see having the right tools made it much easier. Elizabeth you are quite the chef and those cookies looked delicious with a glass of milk. Always look forward to your videos as we always learn there is always something to do on a boat &%^#*. Take care and stay warm !
Fun surprise to see you there. The production value of your videos is excellent. You two are a kick to watch, as well as being very helpful. Good luck cruising..
I hope Sully was on the clock for that first panel - he never took his eyes off of you. Perhaps he is the brains behind the operation and tells you how to do such good work, Shawn. However, you did divulge a secret: work, work, work, put away tools, shower... then cocktail. Many of us mix up that order - especially the cocktail part - which can lead to different results. Nice work, as always.
a boat was in need of a fan belt while cruising. Commercial operator radioed him "the belt is only $20. It will be $150 for me to bring it to you . . . cash". Moral: carry spares - all and plenty of them. Oil, filters, wire, fuses, breakers, lights, pumps, etc. Self sufficient is the key to problem free cruising.
Personally I learn from the mistakes of people who took my advice... way more economical that way :) Your transparency is a big part of your success, thanks for sharing.
Looks good, Shawn is a man of many skills. We use to stretch leather headliners over a latticed plywood frame secured in place with Headlock, a mushroom headed velcro on steroids. Christianson Yachts
Really suprised to see so many boats riddled with the headliner debacle. I never would guessed with the build quality of a Nordhaven that you would have this issue. My Formula 41 had the same issue as did many of them. Great Job fella.
Yacht Tech Inc has a TH-cam channel and James Knight does some very in-depth videos on Nordhavens and he also happens to mention the cause for the headliner failure in one of them. Basically there is a layer of foam between the backer board and the headliner material that degrades over time. Eventually the foam will degrade enough that it separates and causes that sagging headliner look. They also have a vid on how they go about fixing the headliner that is well worth the watch if you want to give it a try yourself.
@@Jack-yl7cc I actually have a Formula 41PC that had the same issue. It was warranted by the mft so i never had to deal it myself. However thanks for the heads up
Just yesterday I was wondering when you would be back and just like that this morning here you are. Beautiful job for sure. The Jokes oh well LMAO. Have a blessed week.
I only liked the video because of the bad jokes...No, just kidding! 🤣🤣🤣 It was nice to see Dino's brother making an appearance on the break wall ! SO I expect to see Dino soon too I gather...When are you next on the move? Being from Australia, I prefer the travel videos and seeing so many places I'd like to visit, as opposed to the boat projects.
I agree with the masses that I enjoy watching the boat project videos. Keep the dad jokes! In my opinion, you two have the nicest Nordhaven in the PNW that I have seen.
Bubble insulation is a radiant barrier. It severely underperforms unless you can maintain a continuous air gap between it and the cabin top and the ceiling panels. Just get flexible foam insulation.
Thanks for the new video. a pleasant supplies, I mean surprise, as I sat down at the kitchen table and opened my tablet to TH-cam while enjoying coffee and a baygull, I mean bagel.
2 must haves in any domicile are a shower and a turd smasher the only thing that has ever worked for me with any type of headliner is unfortunately contact cement and the fumes are overpowering , I noticed that the ceiling isn't insulated and I was wondering if that might be contributing to the moisture sagging problem?
It would for sure, I believe for a boat it's like a house for insulation and moisture issues. Barriers and insulation are needed. A spray system might be the best there to cover the best of both issues.
Man I think if it were me I would have pulled the staples on three sides of the existing material pulled it back, rolled on some glue then stapled it back. Love the choice of tunes in this episode.
I’m sure I’m late with this tip but you can think about it. I’m watching you do what looks like the first panel you’re doing. Here’s my tip. First the long end staple the end no sides yet. After you’ve stapled the one end I want you to lift slightly in the center of the panel, now that you’ve lifted the center of the panel about 2 inches staple the far end. After that remove the object holding up the panel. You should find it stretched the material nicely. One other thing I would do is at the same time test the new material at the same time by removing it from the boat find a spray glue impervious to moisture and follow the instructions you spray both the materials and wait the amount of time the instructions tell you to wait before you combine the two substrates.
Glad to see a new video even if it was kind of crappy oooooo did I say that🤪. For the fabric would have tried a roll on contact cement, But I’m sure that comes with its own set of problems that I am not thinking about
You should really use spray on contact cement for the headliners. Just the weight of the material will cause it to stretch and sag. the contact cement is needed to hold it in place.... you would still staple it on the bacside.
It’s the plywood that’s the issue. think cutting up 4x8 plastic panels with reinforcement to prevent bowing or bathrooms wall panels. If the latest try does not last.
Yea 🎉cocktail time… new car smell is good. I’m missing my Grand Banks right now… Yup, even the endless boat projects. I don’t know why, but they never felt like …“toil”
I enjoy your videos, maintenance and all. Looking forward to your next adventures along the Canadian and American Pacific coast, it gives me a chance to see that part of Canada that I can only dream about seeing in person. Question, do you think or are planning a trip to Hawaii and if so, estimated the cost of fuel and such? Thanks for sharing 😊🇨🇦
Hi.. First time viewer.. Love your boat and your thoroughness to the project. Will now look back on your previous video's with interest and enthusiasm.. Thanks J&G (NZ)
Shawn and Elizabeth, I wasn't sure about the new video, I thought it sounded like crap. And then I quickly realized that it really sucked. Congratulations on your new toilets with vacuum flush!
04:22 1991 Dodge pick-up, Cummins 4x4 with a half-million miles. Instead of fussing with the drooping head-liner, I removed it, then rattle-canned the (cardboard?) base. Presto!, instant permanent fix.
I think those dad jokes could make you a headliner at an event!
Ugh…🤠
From one dad to another 👏👏
Pat Mac -- 'Basic Dude Stuff'.
Love them 💙
I keep thinking a gust of wind will catch Ms Martha’s ears and she’ll be airborne! Both of the pups are too cute.
It always great to have a visit with you folks. It's always the first video in my feed when you post.
Just delightful! Love the puppies, the jokes, and the cookies.
Nice seeing you again :)
You guys are such a joy to watch.... I like that you keep it real. 💙

Love the phone a friend part! 😉 let's keep our fingers crossed that it works! Nicely done.
And the dad jokes are a great add!
Looks great on the headliners. Keep up the great work and even the Dad jokes.
Its official your two are the best looking boating couple on YT. Beautiful People with a beautiful boat. Stay safe and have fun!
Fun surprise to see you there. The production value of your videos is excellent. You two are a kick to watch, as well as being very helpful. Good luck cruising..
whats the difference between Bagpipes and onions? nobody cries when you slice up Bagpipes Great jpb on the headliner happy boating
Hey Shawn great job! I saw some space above the panels when they were out and was wondering what you thought of insulation?
missed you guys, great video as always
4000 comedians out of work and this guys playing for free, always a chuckle with the dad jokes. Oh and the headliners look good
Happy to see your going to keep on posting. Enjoy your travels and fixit vids on the Nord.....
A bunch of thumbs up for Shawn's work on the ceiling panels! Elizabeth's cookies looked sweet and tasty. Yum Yum!😁
Made that tough job look easy Shawn - awesome work and Cookies looked award winners 😊
Really appreciate you both sharing your nautical journey!
Wow my Sunday got a bunch Better!!!! Coffee a Cigar and real entertainment. I LOVE IT!!!

Mmmmmm cookies and nerdy dad jokes. The best!! Also, nice job on the headliner.

Great to have you guys back, missed you. Headliners look great.
So glad ya'll are making videos again. Though it's always fun seeing you guys in other Nordy videos in the background.

You know why the cucumber blushed....? Because it saw the salad dressing~!
Contact cement works wonders. Can be rolled on both sides and works for a very long time.
LOVED the dad joke Shawn! SUPPLIES!!!
Just yesterday I was wondering when you would be back and just like that this morning here you are. Beautiful job for sure. The Jokes oh well LMAO. Have a blessed week.
you didn't lie. You do what you need to do to keep things working.
Nice job Sean and those cookies looked oh so good Elizabeth....
Another Fun video… thanks for sharing😊
I enjoy the boat projects and Shawn is the best!
I only liked the video because of the bad jokes...No, just kidding! 🤣🤣🤣

Happy to see youins back! Liners turned out really nice. I understand it’s the foam backing that causes most of the liner sagging issues.
Things break and you need to do maintenance on a boat , even unexpected so you didn't lie . Nice job . Greetings from the Netherlands.
I agree with the masses that I enjoy watching the boat project videos. Keep the dad jokes!
In my opinion, you two have the nicest Nordhaven in the PNW that I have seen.
Very nice job sir. Very professional finish.
FYI. the flush toilet was invented in England by Sir Thomas Crapper. no, you can't make this stuff up. JDR
Might be a good idea to stick some of that silver bubble insulation to the top side of the panels for a little extra warmth .
I was thinking the same .
Bubble insulation is a radiant barrier. It severely underperforms unless you can maintain a continuous air gap between it and the cabin top and the ceiling panels. Just get flexible foam insulation.
Looks great…love the dad jokes.
Thanks for the new video. a pleasant supplies, I mean surprise, as I sat down at the kitchen table and opened my tablet to TH-cam while enjoying coffee and a baygull, I mean bagel.
I have been enjoying everything you have shared with freedom
Have you heard of the new restaurant on the moon?
Great food, just no atmosphere.
Very well done.😄😃
They look great!!! Gotta like it. Take care.

great job..
Great video as always! Love you guys:) keep ‘em coming!
Nice work my friends. Or should we say your panels are well hung.😮😊
Looks great
Great video as always! Love your content! I've noticed some pilothouses with black headliners. Do you notice much glare from your white headliner?
I missed the boat videos so much! And the dad jokes, of course :)

Understand not wanting to spray adhesive, but why not a little paint-on?
Please post the cookie recipe. Mouth was watering, made me want to go do some work around the house!
Glad you’re back!
Missed you guys.
The betrayal. How could you do that to us. Cracking vid, keep em coming and the dad jokes.
Super channel. We just started our new way of living and enjoying waiting and following you guys. Thanks.
Warmest regards, Erik
Good jokes. 👍🏻. And there was a flush of laughter coming from me. 🚽
😆 🤣 😂
Nice work

Looks Great!
I think making the cookies is probably the most important part. 😊
I enjoy your videos!
Would there be anyway to add insulation into your ceiling?
Welcome to Vancouver. Noticed you in Quayside beside us.
Great video, and yes, I did laugh on "supplies!"
Fun video! Could we have your cookie recipe? Those cookies look like a great treat for holiday parties!
Headliners look fantastic.
It’s the plywood that’s the issue. think cutting up 4x8 plastic panels with reinforcement to prevent bowing or bathrooms wall panels. If the latest try does not last.
I wonder if it would help to spray insolation on the roof before installing the wrapped panels. ?

Nice...Anchor out when in Small Craft Advisory.
Hi.. First time viewer.. Love your boat and your thoroughness to the project. Will now look back on your previous video's with interest and enthusiasm.. Thanks J&G (NZ)
Probably a little to late, but for future reference if you use a heat-gun very carefully the fabric will tighten up somewhat.
Good time to add foam insulation? Armaflex or similar.
Shawn and Elizabeth, I wasn't sure about the new video, I thought it sounded like crap. And then I quickly realized that it really sucked. Congratulations on your new toilets with vacuum flush!

Rule #1. "No Cost" in boat World is simply a way to get boat owners to smile and chuckle among themselves.
Definitely a “thumbs up” for the dad jokes.

Which Toilet did you guys install? Seemed fairly quiet.
Good video 😀 glad to have you back 😀 like all your videos
