    glad you did ok at the sale.I agre the gwp are a good sale, somepeople cant afford the crazy buying threshold to get some of them, so buying them at shows are great. I am still on the lookout for the moving truck.

    Nice little round up - I love seeing those retired sets sell for a nice amount of profit for you! (But yes as you say there are other costs involved like petrol etc ) Do you have to pay to rent to tables at the Brick Fest? How much is that roughly if you dont mind me asking?

    • @iainsbricks
      @iainsbricks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching. Yes, traders tables cost around £65 per front table and £15 per backing table at these events.

    Iain, what i was wondering about: Is Iain's Bricks a company or do you all do this as a hobby? In the Netherlands a person is not allowed to make more than €1800,00 a year next to their normal job, this is why i was 'forces' to start a company in Lego investing/ reselling.

    • @iainsbricks
      @iainsbricks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi Peter. So at the moment, Iain's Bricks is just a side hobby. If my turnover is more than £90,000 (around €100,000) then I will need to become VAT registered and set myself up as a limit company, which may have to happen in the next year or so.
      For now, as long as I report my additional Iains Bricks takings at the end of each year to the tax man, then I will be OK.

      Peter - the UK is a lot more "enterprise friendly" than most developed countries..

    • @Peter-tv7yz
      @Peter-tv7yz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@iainsbricksSounds like i might have to move to England haha, 90k is extremely reasonable. the Dutch government seems to discourage people to make any little extra money and if they do then you have to pay a lot of taxes on it (for example: 49% of my earnings went straight to the IRS last year, that feels really unfair and makes you wonder if it is even worth all the effort)

    Morning Iain, you didn't do a RoundUp for Sandown to show how it can also go wrong. I'm impressed by your margins on the Plymouth event, given a moderate sales total, but it would be good to see how it can also make a poor return sometimes. thanks

    • @iainsbricks
      @iainsbricks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Paul. There wasn't much to round up after the Sandown event. My gross takings were only £640 that day - I never did work out my net profit - safe to say it wasn't much.

      Thanks Matt. No definite Dorset events yet planned for this year, although I'm still hoping to squeeze into the Bournemouth Brick Festival in early September. If not, then my nearest events this year will be Portsmouth Brick Festival in early November and Exeter NBE in late November

  • @dbbricks929
    @dbbricks929 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi Iain, I'm just wondering how you find the booking process for these events? I did my first Brick Festival in the Exeter event you mentioned, and again for a quieter event was very happy with how I did, and so would be very keen to do more as soon as possible. I know the Brick Festivals mention that they're fully booked for the foreseeable (like with NBE Plymouth, some last minute tables were made available for BF Exeter), and I've sent NBE a message about future events but not heard anything back as yet, so unless another last minute slot becomes available I fear that I won't be at any more shows for the rest of the year! I know bookings will be months and months in advance, but I'm just wondering how far in advance bookings usually need to be made and how easy or otherwise it is to actually manage to get into these on a regular basis? Any advice very much appreciated!

    • @iainsbricks
      @iainsbricks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your comments. I'm sure NBE willbe in contact soon regarding your query. As you can imagine, they proget a lot of queries.
      Brick Festivals are very difficult to get into. I've tried for quite a few events this year and was disappointed on more than one occasion, as traders tickets normally sell out within 5 mins of going on sale.
      Brickfestival normally sell their traders tickets around 6-9 months before the actual event, which I feel is a bit too early, but so keep you eye out for those late availability tables, as they can pop up at any time.
