My old laser level got jacked up in my move so I have been looking to get another. Love the suggestion. I pull mine out almost every job no matter how simple because it always finds a way to make it even more simple.
I purchased the CM701 some months ago and got a receiver/detector for it as well. I love it, especially for the price. It is within +/- 2mm at 25m. I now also have the CM701SE with receiver. The laser is identical except for some cosmetic differences. This one is a bit less accurate though, but still within the stated +/- 3mm at 10m. Interestingly, the laser beam is weaker is some directions than it is in others. Consequently, the receiver only works out to 20m to the left and right of the laser, from horizontal. From the front and rear windows, it easily works out to 50m. This applies to both lasers. It is disappointing, but I can work with it as long as I remember to orientate the laser in the direction that matters.
I noticed that they have a receiver now. I use this laser all the time as my quick grab because of its size, I really like it. Thanks for the info, good to know. 👍👍
I bought one of these lasers it's one of the best I've ever had . I'm a plumber in the UK 🇬🇧 and it's been brilliant especially with the green laser . I did have a dewalt one what at the time cost me roughly the same and that was a red light if this had come out sooner think this would of been my preferred choice. Its been a brilliant little thing well worth it's money and definitely would buy one again if anything went wrong with my present one . If your thinking of a laser it's definitely worth it 👍 Great video
3 adapters you have to have if you buy one is a manual high precision rotation stage. It gives you very fine spin control so you can line up on a target. They are mostly used in the optics industry but they have 1/4-20 threading so you can hook a laser level to them as well. The second one is a telescoping pole so you can raise/lower your laser level to a certain height point. 3rd is a receiver so you can detect where the laser line outside and mark its position. You can also set the receiver at the target point and rotate the laser level until you lock onto the receiver and that means you've also locked onto the target point.
I'm still using 3 plane red line Bosch. I bough it like 10 or so years ago and it's still works perfectly. I promised myself to buy the green line one when that Bosch stops working, but it's a really well made tool and it won't give up that easily. That's the best justification for that price tag. Previously I had a DYI Bosch laser, some 3 plane Chinese noname. Non of them lasted longer than a year. That Cigman is a good entry level tool. It's hard to get anything decent with all that functions below $200.
Yeah I agree. I sold my Red Bosch ones to a coworker when I went Green. I have yet to have a Bosch Laser fail on me. That’s the main reason I have never swapped from them, they have been making lasers for quite awhile. I have no idea how old that plumb point laser is I have. I feel like many people don’t understand just how much more you can do with a 3 plane laser. It gives you so many options for reference points. I think if people would buy one like this at the price, they may realize what they have been missing and that it’s worth the investment.
@@MORGANSMaintenance You just have to remember not to overestimate it's precision capabilities. Sometimes plain spirit level is better. But otherwise it's one of those tools that indirectly earn you a shit-ton of money. It's the same with good measuring tape, comfortable work boots and bags/tool boxes.

There are critical things in work that need to be checked (and double checked) with every tool and tactic you have in your arsenal and not be trusted to something that has the ability to be wrong (including yourself 😂). You use 3 things and make sure they are all say the same thing. But for most things where speed and getting you to really close to good… they are hard to beat. That and a good… trusted Spirit Level. And there is nothing worse than bad boots and tape measures 😂

I’ve been looking to get a green laser like this and I think you sold me on it Morgan. I have a red bosch torpedo level with 3 points that I keep in my work bag and it works well. I don’t want to spend 3-400 dollars on something I’m not going to use everyday so this will fit the bill.
You can leave the Bosch mount on lock and raise/lower while its on lock. That actually works a lot better trying to line up a target with your horizontal line b/c it doesnt sag when you let go like it does on unlock. Its way easier to leave it on lock and line up on the target.
Yeah I like the Bosch mount quite a bit, it works really well. The left and right are easy to fine tune but not having to start your mount in the exact place for horizontal makes it nice.
Good video, thanks. I have bought this laser and I agree with what you've said, I want to strike a line on my floor parallel to the nearby wall to use as a guide for the 1st row of floor tiles but I don't see how to do this. Maybe this is beyond what a levelling laser can do?
Is the problem that you can not see the line? You will have to use one of the Vertical lines to use on the floor. It should run along your floor, up the wall, and all the way around. You would just line that up with your measurements off that wall. I haven’t used this laser laying tile. Some lasers will shoot over top of troweled thinset better than others.. often times you can elevate the laser off the floor a foot or so, and you will get a better line on your floor that shows up over your thinset. (On a side note) You should also be able to get square using the other vertical line coming off your striked line in the other direction. Hope that makes sense, hard to explain by typing words… This laser should be able to do it… it does everything that should make it possible.

It depends on what you do. If you will end up needing the 360 degrees or the ability to square things at some point you won’t be able to achieve that with a cross line. For me personally, the 3 plane is a must. There are times I use it as a cross line and plumb points, but being able to check for square is the biggest bonus and a huge time saver when working alone. If you have the money, i feel it’s worth it…. But that’s just my two cents.

(I haven’t used this one but the videos look good amzn.to/3Vc5DLh) You can use the clamp mount by itself, (that’s how I have it in that video at the 18-30 minute mark)…but then you have to manually get your laser in the exact spot instead of getting it close and turning a knob. I like the 3rd hand because it allows me to set at just about any height… tripods only go up so far. That and they are useable for more things than just a laser stand. You can also buy a tripod bottom for the 3rd Hand (I think I used it in that video) Sometimes I use it if I am somewhere with a really high ceiling, or just because. If you don’t have it you just wedge the 3rd hand between the floor and ceiling. That’s all I have really used that I like because it gives me the most options for height… hope that helps

It is very similar to my Bosch at pretty much any distance. Line may be a hair thicker… I don’t have the Huepar unfortunately so I have no idea. Most Green lasers I’ve seen are pretty good… I feel the difference in Brands comes into play more with the Red. Mostly what you are paying for with the Bosch are the attachments and it feels like a more Robust level. I feel like it “might” sustain a small drop better… but who knows

I only have the case and level still, not the box it came in… but my scale said 2.4 lbs for the case and level. (I don’t have a fancy scale) Hope that helps 👍
I been using this laser for two years now and the only problem the I have that I wish they can make the next model much brighter beam line using for lay out tile commercial gang bathrooms and lobby’s
I have found that a lot of lasers are hard to see in really bright lighting like you find in commercial settings. (For me anyways) The green is better than the red for sure on that but even my more expensive lasers are about the same as this one. I have been using this quite often myself and like the compact size. I hope that the next step in lasers is being able to see them better outside and in well lit locations.. We can only hope 👍👍
@@wim0104 My Bosch let’s you do it through Bluetooth from your phone, but I rarely remember it’s a feature. I think it’s a good price for what they give you. I was actually really surprised by its accuracy too. It was identical… even over long lengths with my Bosch. How well it holds up in the long run is the question I can’t answer, but any of these no matter what brand are going to have problems if you drop them.

A Three Plane is life changing... once you start using it you find all kinds of stuff to use it for that you never even thought about.
Does the pulse mode - for use with the receiver - also work on the vertical planes?

My Bosch Line Reader picks up all 3 lines. Hope that helps

Before that I had a Ridgid Tripod that was really nice but they quit making it. (It’s what I now use to hold my camera for the tool review videos)

I did not know the cigman had a remote, we use lasers on the ground to shoot a crosshair on the deck.
