I listened to this during a panic attack and it grounded me and helped calm me until the panic went away. Thank you Mel, you should be available on the NHS xxx
Your sketchbook is so beautiful and inspiring. I am a relatively new artist and I keep seeing artists being very encouraging about having a sketchbook practice, and I think you have convinced me! Thanks for your lovely videos!
Lovely! I especially loved seeing your depiction of the plant covered rocks right near the shore. Whatever you did there was very successful at conveying that dense varied texture/color. Beautiful. Enjoyed the whole tour. :-)
Very relaxing. I enjoyed seeing your sketchbook and hearing your explanations. Inspiring to take the time to observe and sketch. I smiled (relatably) at the time you sketched all the stuff that needed sorting out. Said by a true artist.
So inspiring! Love peeking into your sketchbooks and visually going along with you as you travel, observe, and document what you experience. You have inspired me to start my own little sketch book! Blessings on your creativity!
Lovely to see your video and your commentary so informative! I’ve been working in my May folio/brain dump journal today, with its folded April calendar page you painted, featuring Lizard Lighthouse and Bumble Rock. Synchronicity strikes again!
@@MelanieChadwick - yes they are beautiful, and it did not take me long to suscribe to your channel as well. I found you after looking at @SandiHestors channel. I love your artwork. I am returning to doing art again, and was looking for artist to be inspired by. And finding your channel and Sandi’s has been a gem. I also look at art by AshleyAnn. So glad to see you all on TH-cam. Keep it up. Sorry for the long message, 😊

Loved, loved, loved this video! I really enjoyed both the silent sketchbook tour and the chatty version. What a great format! 👍 I don’t know how you mange to always create videos that are intensely inspiring, highly engaging, and extremely relaxing all at the same time! Well done! You’re one of the few channels where I have notifications turned on! 🤗
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing, it really is inspiring. You mentioned using fountain oenegé before watercolor on some of your pages. Would you be willing to share what ink you have found that works well for this?
Thanks so much. Hoping I understand your question correctly- but think you are talking about the type of fountain pen ink I use? If I'm using my Lamy Joy pen it's carbon platinum ink and in my sailor pen it's Noodler's Ink. Both are permanent once dry.
Hi Mel, love your sketches. Do you sketch/paint the scene all on the same day or sketch then paint later? I sometimes have done both. Thanks for sharing.

Aw so glad to hear you're feeling calm again ☺ but sorry to hear about the panic attack. Your last comment made me smile.

Such a lovely way to preserve memories, so much more meaningful than a photograph…..I think I’m going to enjoy going through your videos 😊
Thankyou! It is a wonderful way to preserve memories.
This was awesome! The fact that you can choose to listen or just watch you turn pages is the most satisfying. Thank you for giving us the options ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
TY Mel; I'm all in for your chatty version :) Seems your sketchbook is always with you; hope I begin to do that too. I did enjoy
Good to know! Yes I try to have one handy

I want to lie in your drawings❤
Very nice !! I know this video is old but I would love to know what kind of sketch book you used. Much love ❤️ 🙏
Thanks for watching! Its a Moleskine - I think the link should be in the description.
@@MelanieChadwick ah OK, thank you 😊 🙏 much love ❤️
🔥Great video! It is a pleasure and a great honor to collaborate with you on and off our platform. 🤗
Thankyou ❤️
Love a good sketchbook tour, thank you for sharing. Really like your drawing style. How long approx do the more detailed pages take you?
Thankyou! Hmm approximately between 25-35 mins.
I really enjoyed this, thankyou Mel! Can I ask, is this sketchbook a Royal Talens or Moleskine?x
Thankyou Jess. It's Moleskine, my favourite type of sketchbook.
Hi Mel, love your sketches. Do you sketch/paint the scene all on the same day or sketch then paint later? I sometimes have done both. Thanks for sharing.
Tend to sketch it all at once whilst I'm on location. Unless I really do encounter bad weather which to be honest means I sketch in the car instead!
you never shy away from using dark colors like brown or black. how do make them out to be not muddy?
Perhaps using them with complementary colours, or colours that work together. Can't say for sure, but I like the warmth that browns bring.
