DIY updos with volume on fine hair!

- A loooong tutorial to follow along with, showing you how I do voluminous updos on my own fine hair. I never use extensions and I don't tease my hair. Volume with no damage!
There are two updos in here, and I've tried to explain every single step, so you have plenty of techniques to choose from.

I can't believe some of the rude comments. Do you realize she has taken her personal time to teach you something? You can't learn something useful in no time at all. Finally! Someone who has FINE hair, rather than THIN hair. Every time I search for "fine hair" tutorials, I get thin hair tutorials. You can have a large mane of hair, and your hair can still be fine. I can see that your hair is fine, so THANK YOU so much for the video!
I know, right? I had the same problem when I first started braiding. And most videos are done on wigs, with super thick hair. It's one of the things that inspired me to make a video in the first place. I hope it helps you!

Thank you so much for this tutorial! My bestie asked me to do her (super fine) hair for her wedding reception and it turned out amazing! She didn’t have texture powder but I was able to get it to work well with dry shampoo and hairspray and it stayed great for the whole evening.

This was great. I've got long, thin hair as well, and I've been looking for a hairdo to wear for my nephew's upcoming wedding. This is great! Yes, it was a little messy, but hey, she did a phenomenal job without a mirror to see what she was doing. The main thing was the design. I love this video!!

Thank you for this! I need updos for work but I feel really insecure about thin areas, I also really appreciate a way not to back comb because I tend to lose more hair doing that!

@@hairyintent6990 honestly I personally don't have the skill for braids 😅 but I am looking for simple updos for work, I work in the medical field so I need my hair out of my face, but unfortunately with how fine my hair is its not very flattering.

Thank you for this video! My hair is straight, fine and almost "slippery", so it's impossible to curl. I always struggle to get nice hairstyle for weddings etc. Now I know what to do! :D

Fine hair with a similar length, i’m always looking for a way to add interest and volume. I use the twist turns on the side for various styles, for the look, and because they tuck in the short bits. I only use spray if i am leaving the house, or staying with friends or family, so i won’t need to fiddle with it. I have not tried the pony tail poofs, or pooffing side turns, but i will. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this!! Can I ask once you wash hair, do you put volumizing spray on it while wet and let it stay up for 3 days? Sorry I’m new at this and don’t ever blow dry my hair.
I didn't blow dry either when I had long hair, for fear of damaging it (now I have short hair I don't care). I used to put detangling serum and volume mousse in when wet and let it air dry, either loose or in an updo or braid, depending on whether I wanted straight hair to work with or something with more waves. Unless the braids are really tight, my hair can't stay in an updo or braid overnight, it gets too frizzy.

What texture spray/pump powder do you use?
In this video I was using Puff.Me by Design.Me.Hair. But I have to admit that since then, I've bought much cheaper volume powder and cannabalised the Puff.Me pump for it and that works just fine. It's mainly the pump that makes it so handy. Most volume powders you just pour on your head and hope it's not too much...

Thanks for the feedback! Personally I like my updos a bit messy and obviously without straightening irons or just using fake hair, you're just not going to get the plastic perfect look you might be looking for. Maybe try one of the tutorials by the more famous TH-camrs if that's what you wanted to find?
I prefer my hair a little messy because it gives the illusion of more hair, anything super neat makes me look bald and exaggerates thinner areas. I also appreciate that she didn't use any back combing because that breaks off more hair.

The bun is flat. It needs backcombing
Well, as I think I explained in the video, backcombing damages the hair, so I don't do it nor include it in videos. But you do you.
@@hairyintent6990 I’ve done hair for 42 yrs. Backcoming does not damage the hair. Chemicals do and so does heat. Backcombing once in a while is fine

You're very welcome! I put volumizing mousse on my hair after washing and a detangling spray. I can't usually leave it up for more than a day because my hair frizzes too much for that (and sleeping is not fun on top of a bun), so I can only leave it the same overnight if I had it in tight braids.
