I'm sorry I've watched your video, and I have to disagree with what you have said, I've had a couple of occasions where my border collie has watched my premises and as soon as anyone steps on the first step he's up at the door barking, I've take
taken him out at nights and fallen asleep sat on a bench and he will sit there nit leave my side off lead and growls at anybody who walks past he's the most loyal loving dog I've ever had he surprises me on a daily basis the things he can do, ide be totally lost without my best friend at my side he will have a wee or pooh on comand do everything I've asked of him theses dogs are truely

my border collie as a kid would hold guest hostage once they sat down they couldn't move an inch with out him warning them. my dad would laugh as people would be worried but he was trained by my dad so would do any thing would out say so.
Collies are smart and visually intelligent. I took advantage. I took my boy through a protection program at 9 weeks once I got him. Still very playful but will often always bark when someone get to close to the “herd”. We were on my uncles ranch chasing cattle and horses for a couple weeks and he picked up quick. We’ve chased down coyotes, rabbit, antelope, and ran from a few bears along the way.
Now we’re back in the city for work and I just got a citation the other day for having my boy off leash

My borders are good watch dogs, but I wouldn’t say they are guard dogs. For me personally having watch dogs is enough.
I have a beautiful colllie called Blu.He is a resscue dog.As i know after owning 3 collies, they are a one man dog and only mix with the chosen few lol. They need special time with there owner.100/00 loyal.
My collie is 3 years old he was my uncles before we have had him for about 2 weeks he doesn't like people or other dogs
Great watchdogs, not so sure about being guards. But their bark alone is enough to deter any intruder.
they will bark hard but wont really protect you when it comes to violence. any dog wont protect you or protect you if they are trained or not trained for it.
my border callie was an ok ok guard dog he did bite a drunk guy who stumbled in to close to my daughter. he had my doberman teach him. that could be a factor

My BC was a ferocious guard dog! When the criminal hordes invaded my home, my boi was on the case! He dropped a rubber ball at their feet, and gave them THE LOOK! Actually, "they" were not criminal or a crowd, but the electrician. yes, the visitor, ANY visitor , had to play "the BC play with me and the ball tax". I suppose my lad took his cue from me. I wasn't alarmed by the person at the door, so he wasn't either.
He didn't bark much, but when he did, he knew there was trouble at the door. Individuals vary and BC's are a smart breed, but Sam was really clever. My brain hurt dreaming up new puzzles for him to solve. I would think of a new one sometimes and he would just look and me, with an expression: "Seriously Dad, you think that is difficult?" Also, BC's are fascists. If you want a personal fitness trainer, there is nothing better than a BC.
No Sunday lie-ins ---ever again!!! Short of global thermonuclear war, or the worst cyclone in the world, the lead will be put into you hand, and a soggy rubber ball dropped onto your lap. Resistance is futile.
Also, accept the new reality. You are sheep. On family walks you will be herded into a tight, neat mob.
As for being a good guard dog? Well, I don't know, he was a rescue dog, and had been abused, so he was a little TOO placid and easy-going. He was obedient in things that really mattered, and otherwise, a harmless but very cheeky boy when he got settled in.

I never let my border collie see people and he is really violence to anyone who comes to the house
@@OakwiseBecoming why is that a bad thing? They are people. And if you actually took the time to sit down and talk to some you might learn that. Yes a good percentage are fried, but there are many who are not.
I need to tell my boy to stop fighting with the sheep's and the cats. Don't get me wrong it's the sheeps that attacks my dog first and he bites back (or tries to), the cats are only play for him while the cats are annoyed
Any dog breed can be a guard dog...once you love that dog they will protect you
You might wanna research that... MOST allow harm to their owners.
My border collie will BARK at animals and dogs but not people Border COllie will just kiss the interuders

Not my experience. My border collie while have killed on command.
