I'm glad you liked the video! I'm honestly surprised I got anything out of that lightning ridge piece, in the start I was so sure It was going to be a failure. Australian opal really is so rewarding when you get it right though, it's crazy awesome it feels when things work out.
I sure appreciate this Carlyn. Have not been doing much with opals lately - but getting close - will need to do about 60 when I do get going - one per leaf of the family trees. Your generosity is sure going a long way for that !
I'm glad I can help, and I'm glad you are so good at the guessing part! I think you might even be better than me at that, which is awesome. I'm excited to ship you your winnings, and I hope you have fantastic luck with them, 60 is alot of opals to work on!
Hi Carlyn, after seeing the beautiful purple haze sunstone that you were polishing, I was telling I'm hubby about it and I told him that you recommended Gecko Stones as a really good and reliable seller of good quality rare feldspars and opals at good prices etc., my hubby (unbeknownst to me) bought me a parcel of my own purple haze sunstone to polish, yay! We are really happy with the stones and his service etc. So we left him a good comment and let him know that it was because of your videos and you a TH-camr - Carlyn's Colorful Creations. that we knew about him, because of your recommendations of him as a good seller for the above reasons, I just wanted to let you know and I hope you don't mind! 😊😀
Thank you! Of course I don't mind lol, I'm happy that you loved his stones as much as I do and decided to check out his shop. I think a surprise of one of his parcles is like the best present lol, that's awesome he did that. I hope you have good luck and a great time with your purple haze sunstones. They are some of my favorite sunstones because they evolve so much as your working on them, and I love how most of them look so much like space, it's crazy.
@@carlynscolorfulcreationsThank you and no worries I'm glad that it's okay. I'm very lucky as my hubby is a sweetheart and it was a awesome surprise to get my parcel of purple haze sunstone. I understand why you love it so much because I do too, I can't wait to start working with it to see how it changes and evolves and what little galaxies it creates 😀
Hi Carlyn - those great stones turned out great really like them ! Having some luck with my guesses - which is odd cuz I generally have no luck! Thank you Carlyn.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video, I'm glad you won again, I'm probably going to send that out on Monday. I still have your email from last time so I can just ship it out. I hope they treat you good, whatever you end up doing with them.
Carolyn , Very instructive Video 👍👍. I’m a cutter & I use a flat disc machine mostly. But a lot of rough lends to using a Dremel , especially cause I prefer Freeform Opals. Curious what speed You most use on Your Opals You cut? Kind Regards , Dale from Eagle River , Alaska .
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! So I use a dremel 3,000 for all of my cutting, I have a clip of my setup in my most recent moonstone video if you want to see it. I keep my dremel on the 1st setting at all times with all of my stones to prevent burning as much as possible. I also love freeform stones, but I tend to lean towards more standard cab shapes because I like to sett my stuff in pre-made settings so I tend to calibrated shapes aswell, but I have done freeform stones on my channel before. Thanks for the excellent question, I'll be sure to explain that topic in my next video aswell because it is important for people to know, especially beginners.
I really enjoyed this video and the commentary was great too. I have been getting myself used to holding my dremmel and little etching tool, which I have preferred the feel of so far. It's enlightening to me, to see your videos, speaking about that, you experimented with getting the smoke back out of an Ethiopian opal and you succeeded in doing that. Did you ever think about smoking a big Ethiopian water opal? I bought 3 of those, "specimens" and the nicest looking one with lots of nice colour actually lost the colour once I got all the host rock off of it. It's like a big blob of Amber now. So, it occurred to me that the colours might become apparent again, if it was smoked. I realise it would have to be dried but I have dried it twice before, by following the instructions from Roy's Rocks. Any thoughts on this?
I'm glad you've been enjoying my videos, and the new format aswell! I wouldn't have made that video about getting the smoke out of opal if it wasn't for your suggestion so thank you for that aswell. As far as smoking a big water opal goes, I don't actually have any water opals to do that with, I have some older opals from when I first started opals that cracked and crazed and the seller sold them to me in oil, I'm sure those were water opals, but at this point they are not very useful for the experiment. I would be interested in doing something like that if I had the stone to do that with though. I mean, technically I could smoke one of my large welo opals I have, but I'd be nervous about it breaking or something since I don't actually have that many large welo opals to start with. I'll get back with you on this topic though, if I find or get a opal I'm comfortable doing that with I'd love to make that video, thank you for the suggestion.
@carlynscolorfulcreations , do you know about the site " Opal Trove" ? That's worth a look. They're promoting a 65% off sale starting today. They have 75% off sales and clearance sales. I bought my water opals for about $50 each at 75% off.
@@Kerrsartisticgifts yeah, I know about opal trove, I bought some welo opal from them in the past. Thanks for letting me know they are having a sale, I don't have very much money right now, but I'll still check it out

@@amberandrews6842 I'm sorry that happened, it sounds to me like some sort of glitch in the matrix. I know sometimes when I'm watching a live my phone will kick me out of the video all together and bring me back to youtube home. Maybe it's something similar to that.
That Ridge wasn’t looking good at the start but you made it happen . Nice job good video thank you and you can’t beat Australian opal :)

Thanks for the support, it's the first australian opal I shaped that ended up over a ct, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as me.
