    This video is part of a mini-series for the Brilliance AI feature in ON1 Photo RAW 2024.
    ON1 has released Photo RAW 2024 and the premier feature is Brilliance AI. Brilliance AI is a new control that automates many of the up-front tasks you would normally do during editing. For an introduction to Brilliance AI and how it works, watch my overview video:
    Brilliance AI Explained: • Brilliance AI - Explai...
    In this video, I’ll show you an intermediate workflow using Brilliance AI in Develop in the Edit module. Advanced is a little bit of a misnomer… because Brilliance AI is easy to use. The goal of this video is to help you understand when you’re leveraged Brilliance AI for a good portion of your editing, and you need to step outside of it to address tonal corrections or other adjustments Brilliance AI does not handle.
    I’ll share two cases where Brilliance AI is a great starting point, yet knowing when to pop outside of it and use other tools in Photo RAW is a faster path to finishing your edits and having your final photo.

    Very informative video Scott. I just love your phrase, "A.I. is a tool, not THE tool".

    For my part, I find it interesting to use AI shine to start and see what it looks like. If this is not suitable, we go back to the original to proceed differently or we adapt (modify) the AI settings. Of course this is not the tool. Sometimes it's great... sometimes not but it gives an idea of a possible result (amonge others) thank you for this series.

      I think you have the right approach... use the tools as helpers to get you going. Then modify as you like.

    Thanks Scott, great intro to Brilliant AI and how it fits in a workflow. I would like to see you do a short video on the new Properties box that pops up when you initiate a mask. I am struggling to see how it integrates with the Masking Brush and the controls for same that still appear in the top line tools area.

    Very informative video Scott! And you are right . AI is just a tool and make me doubt or I really need this version. I’m happy with 2023.

    Great video Scott, as usual. I have been a big fan of On1 photo. At this point, I can't see the benefits of Brilliance. You are doing as much work making adjustments after the AI adjustments have been made. I will probably skip this year's release. But if I change my mind I will be sure to use your codes

    Thank you so much for these helpful hints. AI cannot and should not take away HC (Human Creativity), but it can assist on the way to a better photo.

    Scott, can you explain how Brilliance AI interacts with the choice of Camera Profile selected in the Tone & Color block? Especially when using Adobe dcp profiles (newly enabled in Photo Raw 2024) I get some pretty weird oversaturated results. Should one select the profile before or after invoking Brilliance AI? Or should we avoid the AI entirely if using a profile other than the default?

    Hello Scott. I am now working with On1 Photo Raw 2024. I like this program but what I cannot find is a possibility to copy a person from a photo into another foto. Do you know if On1 can do this

    • @ScottDavenport
      @ScottDavenport  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that can be done with layers. 2024 also has a new 'pixel paste' feature where you can copy pixels to the clipboard and paste them into ON1.

      Scott thank you. I have worked with Apple Aperture(in that time a great program but they stopped) and had to switch to Lightroom for several years. Last year I switched to 2024 Raw because I don't like subscriptions. I see that the automatic button for tone and color has gone. For quick developing of a photo this button is very important for a pressphotographer. Lightroom has understand this function and has a button for this. I thought Brilliance AI would be the alternative for this button. But is'n. Like you tell in the movie it is only useable for parts of the photo.
      When I use this for the whole photo, the photo gets awfully. So I am coming to the conclusion to do it by hand like in the early days of photography.

    It's wierd that Brilliance AI finds other regions than Mask AI. Perhaps there should be the possibility of "grouping" two or more regions to be able to adjust them together or even modify the mask for a specific region.
    Thanks Scott

      Grouping two regions into a single slider in Brilliance AI would address one reason I'd choose to move outside of the tool to do adjustments. You *do* have the ability to modify masks for a given region... the Locals are made for you by Brilliance AI. In my example, I could add a region for Natural Ground, go to the Local and add in the Mountains region, then have a single slider in Brilliance AI adjust it. Though, for me, I've already gone outside of Brilliance AI, so I tend to just move on from there. Brilliance AI got me started, and I'll take it from there.

    Good effort to explain, yet it looks like hanging around Brilliance AI spends as much time as not using it at all. Luminar's approach makes more sense, you just have a strength slider, and other than that, you go to the other tools.

    • @ScottDavenport
      @ScottDavenport  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or, use it similar to Luminar. Adjust amount and move on. Whatever works best for your workflow.
