THE SOLUTION TO REMOVING, FROM THE GROUND, A DIFFICULT METAL FENCE STAKE .
What inspired this whole affair was a family of pesky squirrels. Our bird feeder was their restaurant. Just a hop, step and a jump and it was chow down time ... easy pickings at the bird feeder. To such a family of squirrels (and there were many) we were the local feed bag and as far as they were concerned, the hell with the birds. Our problem was the bird feeders location, we had picked a bad spot to install it. Precariously perched on top of a 6' metal stake, it was a beacon for all the squirrels to come visit. Our additional nemesis was that it was far to close to the neighbor's adjacent trees, a welcomed invitation for the bandits to come visit, then pole-vault out and across for A SELF SERVE dinner ... the horn of plenty. We needed to change its location quickly, or take out a 2nd mortgage out to keep it filled with bird seed. I have built fences in the past and was quite prepared to take on the task of shutting down these seedy characters (no pun intended) First and foremost, I needed to move the bird feeder. To make a long story short, it's absolutely amazing what you can do with a little ingenuity and a car jack.
