A tips: Usually when Im done working out with the H10 I only pop out one of the side that the puck is attached to the band and leaves it hanging on only one side, this will in my experience not only save you battery (because it will act like the device is turned off) but also prevent you from losing the puck if you detach it completely from the chest band..
Both Polar H10 & Verity Sense will record & store workouts and up load to Polar flow after the workout. These polar HRMs will work independently of a watch or phone. Also I believe the h10 has 2 Bluetooth connections plus ant+
That is so helpful to know! Thank you for pointing out. I knew the verity did w the simple button options, but strangely have never tested that on the H10. I will look into it. Thanks!
I use the H10 + Fenix 7 for CrossFit. When I do movements like Muscle Ups, Pull Ups, Sand Bag Cleans it often misses respiration data. Are you familiar with this problem. I cleaned the strap and tightened it more without results.
Mine works perfect with epix 2. Changing the battery is the biggest improvement for me. Had the old garmin hr duo and the screws were a pain in the ass
It didn’t take long at all for you to post this review! I haven’t received my Garmin watch yet, but I tried the Garmin HRM Pro without it connecting it via Bluetooth and it was kinda disappointing. You basically need a separate app like Strava or something else because Garmin Connect app won’t let you start a workout. Definitely only get it if you have a Garmin watch, and if you do, definitely better than the Polar one!
I meant to have the review out sooner! I have had it for I think about three weeks now and really loving it. There are a bunch of apps you can connect it to directly to track a workout, but you have to have a watch from Garmin to have it flow into true Garmin training analytics!
Is it possible to register a activity on apple with only a chest strap without wearing the apple watch? I do martiel arts and I can't wear my apple watch so I'm looking to find a solution. Thanks
Welllllll - I had the original, old school initial Garmin HR strap and it never had problems, I'm not sure anyone else has reported an issue with theirs as well, but I definitely understand where you're coming from!
Infuriatingly I have found that my Polar h10 has phases where it won’t pick up my heart rate at all when I select the activity on my Garmin watch , I just get “- -“ instead of my HR. Or I get the wrong HR ( too high or low). I have to fiddle round endlessly, taking battery in and out etc until it starts working again for a few months till it starts going wrong again. Does the Garmin strap avoid this? I’d swap if I could guarantee it working right 100% of the time
Just the video I needed! Thanks! how ever now I'm not sure what to wear, im more into calisthenic than a running dude and a bit of crossfit. I don't have a watch also :(
Yes it will! That's how I track all of my workouts for the Polar system when not using one of their watches, but I actually track w a chest strap directly connected to Polar Flow vs Beat. Thanks!
@@fitgearhunter in one of the polar apps there is an option to set the H10 into record mode. Then it will record out of range of app. The verity sense is easy to set to record using the button when turning on.
No way! Yes that makes no sense. I like the Garmin a ton because the puck does not connect from the strap. I found that to be much more convenient for me. And technically I've lost an H 10 puck diving into a lake before as well, so there's that.
I just put mine in the mail today for warranty repair. I had to pay the shipping. Not happy. I had a basic Garmin HR strap from close to 10 years with no problems.
Appreciate the video! I have a garmin 255 watch and need a HRM. My question is; can I see real time heart rate with the Garmin Pro Plus HRM? I'm between buying a Pro Plus or H10. All I need is tobe able to see accurate heart rate in real time. Thanks.
Yes of course! I often add a simple "heart rate gauge" single data page to my sports profiles so that you just see one large heart rate number and a color dial around the edge for what zone you are currently in for the workouts. Literally I almost use that for portions of the workout every day!
@@fitgearhunter Thank you for the swift reply! I just read elsewhere that you can't see real time HR with the pro plus so it had me concerned but doubtful. But now I know I can just grab a hrm pro plus and connect it, and my watch will read the HR directly from the strap for a more accurate HR! Thank you! I appreciate your videos.

Good questions. The Garmin has to be connected to a watch (that doesn't have to be worn) to get the training analytics. I usually make sure it's connected, start the activity on the watch, then put the watch off to the side for the workout if I'm using wrist wraps. Works great.
@@fitgearhunter Wow! Thanks @FitGearHunter. So can we be all agree that with HRM pro plus; you have to have the Garmim watch with you but it can be off your wrist somewhere around on the table within some sort of distance like when you are in the gym area. For me, a replaceable strap is a much better solution. The strap will definitely break at some point and I don't want to buy a whole new HR monitor.

I got the H9 before getting my Fenix 7. I’m not sure I want to spend the money to upgrade to the Garmin.
Yes I get that! The H9 is definitely a great all-around and simple strap. It gets the job done!
Also, interesting that you didn’t conduct any tests comparing accuracy.
So the Garmin can't record just to the Connect app? You need a Garmin watch? And the Polar lets you use it with their app and no watch?

I've a Garmin 955. For running, am I better of buying the Garmin strap or the polar strap??
For running definitely the Garmin! It tracks running dynamics and can even record your workout without the watch nearby.
the problem is what I found on Reddit, because you can't change only strap, you have to throw into trash whole Garmin.
