Know this is coming in quite a while later but just shooting in the dark. When you split the case is that the only way to pull the input shaft bearing? Got one growling at me like an angry dog and was hoping i could just snatch it out and slap one in without splitting cases. Thanks!!
If I remember right, that shaft bearing is pressed on. You will need to remove the shaft from the case and use a press on it. I've been wrong before, but my answer is, yes, you have to split the case.

Yes, I think it happens a lot because most mechanics assume that all engines line up tdc on cylinder 1, but these engines are opposite, on cylinder 4.
