Love your video's man, one of the few guys out there who does not push products down our throats or make us poor people feel guilty for not being a Patreon member, thanks Brother👍
One thing that doesn't show on camera is how hard it is to make the call that the trip ends at the washout. There are plenty of bodies at the top of Everest of people who sought the summit at all costs. Turning around when you did shows a lot of maturity/experience. Also, it was funny to see a rig like yours that would look perfect anywhere in Alaska, driving through the desert. Two watercraft on the top of your rig in the middle of the desert just struck me as surreal. Nice channel, excellent content, keep up the great work.
My husband and I were in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago during the NFR, and we seen you cruisin' down Las Vegas Boulevard. What a kick-ass rig . Safe travels!
It must be super hard trying to include good content for your channel; but yet not have much money to do the things you really want to do. I want you to know you are appreciated dude for what you bring to us each week I absolutely love your channel. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I was so glad to hear you decided to NOT do that sketchy washout. That thing looked very dangerous. You're a trooper though, for trying all this risky stuff. 😎
We went down that mountain from Baker to Laughlin last year & I'll tell you what, I was white knuckling it all the way down!! My Trooper barely squeezed through. Good call on backing off
That washout at 13:00 was there when I did the trail in 2015. You are right that once past that spot it's pretty easy going. Some soft spots, along with some narrow portions. Otherwise pretty simple.
Stay safe buddy. Good thing you had to turn around. Not a good idea for anyone to be there alone. A lot of things can happen in a second. I love the way Ole Blue sounds.
I did Mojave a few years ago in a Syncro vanagon...its a great route but can definately be a challenge and with the size your rig, it would be tough to not run into a jam. I smashed an oil pan in the same area, luckily i had another lol- Great vid!
Love the growl of big Blue, creeping along. Glad you turned back. The stars at night looked incredible. Dinner looked good too. You have one heck of a Truck. House. Life!! Yeah!!
I think I've been on that road. I visited friends in Vegas and we took their truck four wheeling. I drove while they enjoyed their beverages. Had a great time.
You remind me so much of my late husband! He was always going to the hardest most difficult places to get to in his 56 International pickup (original engine & drive train too). We spent most of the time exploring the deserts, ghost towns, abandoned mine claims, or just going! That International had an awesome granny gear and could go anywhere. He liked to take the dirt bike along so when we would get as far as the truck would go, he'd unload the dirt bike and we would continue going till we reached the limit on gas or got to a location he wanted to be. Then we would hike. As many times as we had been to the desert, we were always finding new and amazing places. Your driving and preparation skills are so much like him. With the original drive train there was no need for special replacement parts. When he brake cable to the pedal broke, he had a piece of old bailing wire in the bed of the truck and used it to fix it. When the engine was running bad and he determined it was a bad plug, he knew where there was an abandoned mine claim from the 60s. The people that had the claim did all their own repairs on their vehicles and machines for mining. When the Govt denied the renewal of their claim and ordered them to leave, they used dynamite to blow up all the buildings. So, my husband limped the truck there and after about 45 minutes of searching, we found a total of 5 spark plugs, all different. My husband chose the one he thought would work, used his knife to clean and gap it. He replaced the fouled plug with the one we found and BINGO!!! The engine was running smoothly!! LOL! You are so much like him in your ability to be prepared and have the knowledge on how to fix things, resolve any problems or issues, and be able to continue on with a smile and looking for the next adventure. I am so addicted to your channel because I picture him sitting beside me saying, "Honey! We need to go there!" LMBO!! May God continue to Bless and protect you in all that you do!
@@TruckHouseLife Unfortunately my husband passed away in 2009 after a battle with lung cancer. He had been a professional test driver for AMC (before they went under) & and also for military vehicles. Once they found out he was also a computer guru they re-assigned him, but the adventurous driver never left. Before he passed, he told me to be sure his vehicles (65 Mustang, 56 International pickup, boat, all his dirt bikes, and his Harley Sportster) were divided between his 2 sons. The one stipulation was the International was to never ever leave the desert in order to protect it from rusting. I miss bouncing around in that truck. The seat was padding covering the springs, and then a blanket seat cover over that because the original seating material had worn out years ago. Hit a bump hard enough or drop down to quickly in a wash and the seat would launch you into the air and smack your head on the ceiling! LOL!! And I miss that! My health won't let me do any of the things I really want to do, but your channel is allowing me to live them through you. Now if I could just catch a big salmon or Halibut, anything over 4 lbs. LMBO!! Please give Erin my love and tell her she is in incredible, amazing, and talented young woman. She is a keeper and I hope you all will continue to have an amazing life filled with wonderful adventures. And by the way, if you want to see some REALLY HUGE TREES, check out the Redwood Forests and The General in Sequoia National Park/Forest.
Great job backing down the road after the impassable washout. Like the others have said, this is an "iffy" spot even for the Jeeps. There is a 13 mile alternative route that used to be posted on the NPS website. By making a wise decision, you can live to play another day. Nice rig, by the way. Good Luck in your travels.
For towing applications and heavy duty trucks they make airbag systems that help with payload/towing and they also make self adjusting versions that could maybe help keep the camper more level on off camber stuff. They adjust all 4 corners separately. Expensive but just a thought
Great video, as always. FYI for anyone watching this, the town of Searchlight is a big speed trap. It goes from like 65 to 25 in less than a mile and there are always troopers there. Last time I went through there were 4 highway patrol waiting for speeders.
There's a reason people say "FORD TUFF" they are. I bought my 89 Ford F150 4x4 XLT Lariat brand new and she is still running like new. Good call on that wash out, that is when things go downhill, no pun intended, lol. Take care buddy and we got some good snow here in Willow.

It's always funny to me when Timmy says, "Oh, you probably can't tell on camera." Next thing you see Old Blue is basically driving sideways through a crevice lol it's definitely noticeable when you look at the angle of the truck
Hey great video, I saw you in Flagstaff. I returned home to Calif. via the Mojave Road. I must have hit it a day or two before you. That uphill portion you were on, was the worst part of the road. Once on top things changed drastically, much more sandy roads with beautiful Joshua Tree forest. I also went solo in a Tacoma TRD. I think you made the wise decision to turn back. Watching your video let me relive this iconic route. Keep up the good work!
9:38 - I'll bet that was much more gnarly in person! I'm thinking about hitting up that trail after I get my new engine all broken in. Picked up the steed yesterday afternoon and I'm spending the next few days driving 500 "soft" miles before I can drive it back to AZ. A snowstorm is hitting my reach starting today lasting for the next 8 days. I NEED to get back there asap to film that stuff!
So I have had one of these (analog gauge) ones for a few years now, and I once learned a hard lesson while fiddling with it and having my valve core “disappear” somewhere unknown. I used the same little puller to carefully take the core out of my spare and air up the tire, but I now carry a bag of spare cores and someday will break down and buy one of those “all 4 at once” things.
Oh boy was that scary...good thing you decided not to go through that crumbling part 🤪🤪🤪...what is it with that blue sort of sledge (15:25) to the side??? It's like , hey not all fun is lost!! if you couldn't make it come along and slide down!!
Wow.. railroad ties covered with dirt equals a bad spot.. if there was mega rocks around.. maybe been able to fill that ditch... but if i was with my old blue 86 f250 with camper, and no other around vehicle with.... good call man!!... great channel dude!!
Oh man those camber angles are such a pucker factor with a TC or truck house. I feel ya on that one! I dont even remember that part of the mojave trail. Also, there is a lot more washout since I was last on it.
@@TruckHouseLife are you back up in AK now? Cause if so, I really need to take some tips from you on how to record 10 video's worth of content and be ahead of schedule, hahaha. I'm pretty much current on all my content. This youtuber stuff takes a ton of work.
Hey Timmy just to let you know I've done the Mohave Trail a dozen times you can go around that area. Maybe next time. 👍😁 Can't wait for Slab City eye opening neat place.

We were in a spot like that leaving Alaska in our 25 ft. motor home, and decided to take a off road (trail) to explore.......whew, it got scary and something told me 'turn around'!! We could barely turn, but finally made it.
Tim made the rational choice on not going for the wash out. It’s one thing to flop your Samurai - but your whole house and transportation too? Maybe not.
I went back and thought (stupidly haha) coulda dug out one side if not all rock or filled some of the other side with rock. Nice few hours of moving rock. lol. But w/o that no way jose.
Man, what a bummer about that washed out portion of the trail. Smart move deciding not to go. It’s a very easy trail, but weather can really screw things up. I have to say that around the 11:00 and 16:00 minute mark was super sketchy for such a top heavy rig. I just did the trail by myself last month and the heavy rain and snow of 2023 did a number on the trail. I bet you had a great time at Joshua Tree. If I saw that big rig cruising on the trail I would be stoked. The cold beer would be coming out and give you a salute! That rig is bad-ass…
68#? You can go lower pressure with large tires. I’m driving Dodge Cummins and I don’t generally run more than 40# in front. Getting good tire wear and 22-24mpg. Those high pressure recommendations are for much smaller tires than you are running. I do realize that your rig is massive and heavy and you know what you are doing. I’ve never driven a house🤣 Great show!
That sux if you would have made it past that washout it would have been smooth sailing from there my buddies and I do that trail every year good adventure 🤙
Dude Awesome video. I drove a days worth of the mohave trail in Az. It’s almost a an atv or side by side size in some places. I tore up underneath my 4runner. Made it and did 2k damage to my vehicle and scared my neighbor. Glad you are safe
Was waiting to see how you made it down Watson's wash... scared the HELL out of us in the jeep! Loved that trail. Had anxiety the whole time about the water crossing at the end though. water was just over the tires when we finally went through. So many offshoot trails and sites... can't wait to go back and spend a lot more time. the desert is so beautiful out there.
I'm sure glad the jumper didn't land on your camper! I'll bet you are too! Years ago a buddy of mine was leaving his building to get to an audition when he realized that he'd forgotten his headshots in his apartment. As he was heading back up the concrete steps a guy jumped from the 10th floor and hit the steps headfirst right in front of him, splattering my buddy. What a mess! Sorry you couldn't make it all the way to the top, but I think you were very wise not to attempt it. Love your videos, Timmy!
I live in Las Vegas, we never hear about people jumping. I was told it happens quite often, they think if make news worthy it will draw more copy cats.
Bummed for ya Timmy, was looking forward to this, but onward to Joshua Tree! A very cool place indeed. Rock climbing mecca, was cool back in the 80's when I tripped through there and hung out. Hope it makes up for missing the Mojave. Be safe my buddy Timmy.
You cut off a good chunk of the road by starting at Hwy 95. There is a section to the East that takes you all the way to the Colorado river. There is a go around where you got blocked that used to be published on the Mojave Preserve's website. That wash out has been there for a number of years but since I'm on a bicycle it isn't a problem. You were correct thinking this is the roughest section of the entire road. Try starting at Afton Rd. on I-15. That said you might need to go around Soda Lake if it has been raining a lot. Starting at Afton if the lake isn't passable you would to out Rasor Ranch Road back to I-15 then cut over to Baker and take Kelbaker Rd East to most any dirt road that takes off to the right and connect back with the Mojave Rd. From I-15 to the Colorado River was 134 miles on the bicycle and took 3 days.
Good call on turning back. That washout looked very unstable, and the drop off was steep. Had the truck rolled there, you might not have lived to tell about it.
Didn’t know you was into Suzuki Samurai’s. My Cousin has 12 of them. Know them well. Awesome content for sure not sure how I’ve only recently found your channel.
Good video , if you have time go from west to east entering through Afton Canyon Rd off the I-15. I don't believe you'll have too much trouble with going under the two train trestles. Our TC group did this trail twice.
You would of had a rough time after the money tree. Gets Really narrow and deep. Lots of Joshua Trees close to the trail that the camper roof would of hung up on. Also by the mail box it gets kinda technical and narrow. I would of just dropped in by the Lava Tubes and enjoyed the ride to the lake bed and Afton Canyon.
That area has been washed out for years, gotta make a left at the power lines and bypass it. You more than likely would of had to bypass the dry lake also as it wouldn’t have been so dry and burying a big ford is easy to do. Good luck on your next river to river try.
As much as I just love to see the trails you take that big ass truck down, I'm just as happy to see that you aren't reckless for the sake of making a video and even better, willing to back down and say so and show why rather than just toss the entire video. There's more reality in this video than in most reality tv and you did it in 20 minutes. Do you have gauges to indicate the angles the truck sits at or are you utilizing your inbuilt clench master?
Love your video's man, one of the few guys out there who does not push products down our throats or make us poor people feel guilty for not being a Patreon member, thanks Brother👍

Awesome video. I drove a days worth of the mohave trail in Az. It’s almost a an atv or side by side size in some places. I tore up underneath my 4runner. Made it and did 2k damage to my vehicle and scared my neighbor. Glad you are safe
Thanks man, and yowser!
great video as always my man
thanks!
Super cool Dventures andxecploring💜maybe I'll see ya out there, I live in these kind of places in my van... I'm the one with writing all over my van
Thank you, always wanted to drive this road... reading about it now...
When you said taking the Mojave road with that rig? I ride it on the TDub. A few sketchy spots. There are other trails to explore....
Yup plenty out there, got a few coming up in the next few videos;)
Hey we are parked next to where you’ve got your rig parked! Sweet sweet Ride!!
Nice! Yup leaving it with a friend while I'm visiting family, had a fam emergency so had to come back asap for it.
There is an easier bypass around Watson's steep downhill.
Great channel man 👍🏼
Thanks mane!
Nice, yeah it's a pretty rad area!
You should find Forestry Forest in Utah, collaborate, you guys would get along awesome I think!!
I'll pass him driving through canada in a week or so probably.
I live near Joshua tree can’t wait for the video
It's coming up today!
Enjoyed your trip although short. Look forward to seeing more. Lived on the Mojave for 32 years riding horses. You need a dog.
I’m obsessed with this truck and your lifestyle. We’re pretty much brothers 😂
I would never try that. Kudos for your effort
You don't get pissed off or scream or yell or anything do you?
well gave it the ol john muir on wheels try and you did good, never know unless you try
lol
Good Going taking that trail. I have yet to see that one but would be thrilled to check it off the list ~>
Do it!
Cutest house!!!!
Awww shucks.
Common sense goes a long way for safety and I think you used it well when deciding to turn around. Stay safe buddy
Thanks man, always try to at least kind of use my best judgement lol.
Good call on turning back. That washout looked very unstable, and the drop off was steep. Had the truck rolled there, you might not have lived to tell about it.
fact!
You passed right by my camping spot in the canyon going up to the plateau, Just before where you had to stop because of the washout.
nice!
Great content! Just found you and am an instant fan! Keep on doin what you do! Stay safe and enjoy life buddy!
Right on, welcome to the clown show!
Super awesome stuff. Just found the channel. 🇨🇦
Right on, welcome!
So glad we found you, thru down 2 mob.
Nice! Yup Phil is THE MAN!
Didn’t know you was into Suzuki Samurai’s. My Cousin has 12 of them. Know them well. Awesome content for sure not sure how I’ve only recently found your channel.
Safe travels 🧡
Thanks!
Good video , if you have time go from west to east entering through Afton Canyon Rd off the I-15. I don't believe you'll have too much trouble with going under the two train trestles. Our TC group did this trail twice.
Good to know.
Whoa good to know lol!
Hey I’m based in Laughlin and the wife and I are headed into Baja in the first part of January if your heading that way.
nice! I'll be heading north to Alaska about then haha.
Do you have gauges to indicate the angles the truck sits at or are you utilizing your inbuilt clench master?
yup trying to be careful using my brain as an inclinometer;)
I did it December 20th, was scary but made it trough the washout with my Sportsmobile classic
