    Excellent tour of a wonderful nursery! I have purchased several roses, which are on Fortuniana rootstock, from Galloway Farm Nursery. Back in the day, it was a treat to indulge in plants at Galloway, then indulge in dessert across the street at Norman Brothers.

      OMG, yes, Norman Brothers, so sad they closed. And thank you for commenting. So cool to hear stories from other gardeners.😀🪴

    Loved this! Thank you. I live in Gulfport, outside of St. Petersburg, Gulf side of state. In 23 years I have seen my zone climb. Also, we are really sandy soil. I have really been struggling with plants in 10 b full sun (my front yard). My back yard has trees so it gets mainly sun but not totally. We face East /west. You gave me some great ideas, just how to arrange them now. 😳

    Would love to see you do a groundcover youtube--somethings that take the place of grass. We don't want xeriscape but something tough and green to put up with galloping standard poodles that rearrange the topography of the yard and make their own trails. We've put passion vine on the chain link fence, and wonderful pomegranate bushes in front of that and mango trees closest to the house. Pavers might eventually find their ways over or around the dog trails. We'd like a backyard that uses very little watering most of the time but welcomes butterflies and birds in Cape Coral, FL. Love your youtubes! Thanks!

      Some current updates fro you- we found that Ground orchids, is kinda hit or miss with Iguanas ( they eat some but not all), but Hibiscus will get ravaged by iguanas, baby sun rose plant does pretty good, We are trying out many different plants in her yard to see what's getting eaten ( she has a ton of iguanas running around her neighborhood/yard. 😀🪴

    Hi Michael, finally an outdoor video again. Once more I like your enthusiasm. However, Mexican petunia is a category 1 invasive plant and should not be planted anymore. Even the sterile forms still spread underground. Other invasives are the non native plumbagos , lantanas and the dutchman's pipe, but there are native species.

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback Georg. And yes, invasive's are an issue, I made specific note in the vid about the lantanas to be careful, And using sterile varieties of the various plant species is a step in right direction but sometimes we just got manage expectations; for example The FISC (florida exotic pest council group ) says that the beloved coconut palm is a class 2 invasive, and I strongly disagree with their assessment. One of a plants main role is to reproduce. It's just when it starts displacing other communities in a big way is when it becomes a problem and the Pest Council is getting over zealous at times, especially with coconut IMO. Thanks again for feedback! 😀🪴

    Hi Michael! 🌺🌿
    I can really use your help. I'm in zone 9b near Orlando. What can I grow successfully around and under 2 large laurel oaks? About 30 feet tall now. I've been told nothing up to 8 feet from the trunk 😔 but the area desperately needs "live" added as it is my main view out of my living spaces. These trees give us wonderful shade in summer and bring in lots of birds. My back yard is south facing and surounded by 6ft fence. The trees are at the edge. I like variegated plants, flowering shrubs, interesting foliage, "blue" foliage, "purple" foliage and chartreuse. What can I grow? Thank you in advance!! 🌺🌿

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nelly. I think under your oaks you could try a massing of light.green macho fern wrapping around the trunk and further out near the oak drip line a group of the darker varieties of day lilies ( red or purple) for they tend to flower better in partial shade than the yellows and pastels. I think the light green feathery feel of macho fern juxtaposed against the daylily will be a nice look. Or ayou could try big bed of white caladiums would be super elegant. Or for a tropical vibe , several of the red button ginger under the tree canopy would be beautiful. All plants are good for your hardiness zone. A bad Cold front might hinder thenm for a bit but they will bounce back. Hope this helps 😀 🪴

    What can you tell me about pink muhly grass and what would you recommend to plant with it? Btw I am in the Naples area.

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I love Muhly grass! I will be uploading a video of another nursery tour where I talk about it. Muhly grass likes full sun to part shade. Grows to about 3' overall. She will produce large flowery plumes profusely in the fall and winter. There is also a white flower variety available. Low maint, drought tolerant plant after establishment. As to plant pairings, it depends on your personal tastes. If you want drama you could contrast it with large leaf plants like agaves, philodendrons or Alcanterea imperialis bromeliad. But if you want a more muted look, you could pair with other grasses and grass like plants. Hope this helps.😀🪴

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both species are used interchangeably. But go with mine -glabrata, since most growers sell under Arachis glabrata; including cool varieties like "Ecoturf'" Golden Glory" etc 😀🪴

    • @BryceGarling
      @BryceGarling ปีที่แล้ว

      So basically you don't care what you sell people even if you are selling them the wrong plants. Well noted.

    • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
      @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you are wrong. I do care. But you seem to be quite disinterested in facts. I pointed out the truth on the species issue. This is not new and happens with a lot of plants as Botanists change plants botanical names occasionally from their further scientific testing. That does not make their prior scientific name wrong, it was what they knew about it at that time in history. And I also show videos of the plant and common names to give my gardening subscribers value -added info. So with that said, If this channel isn't your vibe, thats fine, go elsewhere for your gardening needs. But here, on our channel, we do our best to help each other out, in plant care and cordial conversations. I do not care for people who only want to criticize and point out "gotcha's".
