Have you thought about hanging an accordion coat rack over your suitcases, then you could hang victorian and seasonal things from it. Also have you thought about turning your mirror upside down, then you could use the bottom as a shelf, for more pictures, etc. these are just suggestions, as always, you do you, girl.

I think I would put the cabinet closer to the corner & take the mirror down & put the pictures on that wall , like one on top & one underneath each other .. you could put the suitcases & stack on top of the cabinet or on the other side . I hope that helps ! ❤
I like to cut foam core board from the dollar store to fit in the back of shelves and cover it with fabric. Easy to change or rotate out.
Or cover with wrapping paper
I would put the mirror on the blank wall facing the stairs & add another vintage photo in a frame where the mirror currently is.
Have you thought about moving the mirror to the wall above the suitcases? Or, a wreath might add just enough to that space without competing with the portraits or the mirror. Plus, the rack you ut the cap on might hold a wreath...

Hi, Danielle ! I am currently trying to sell my House in the UK, and have put an offer in on a Flat/Apartment .... And, most of it will need fully Decorating ! So, many thanks for your Inspiration, lovely lady ! I really like your arrangement on the Stairs. A nice little Mahogany shelf under the Mirror would look nice and compliment it, as it's a beautiful Mirror. Lovely, Genuine Art Deco Picture Frame with the Deer print in it. So stylish. Accordion peg rack over the suitcases with a hat, scarf , basket,etc. would look so appropriate .

I haven’t read all of the comments so I’m not sure if this has been suggested. But I have a friend who has a thrift vintage store and she does a beautiful job of decorating. She suggested to take thin foam board and cover it with fabric for the back of my bookcase. That way it’s very easy to pull out and change if I get tired of it or want to look for something different. I thought this was a really good idea and much less expensive thank wallpaper. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to.

Love the idea of wallpaper to back your cabinet. I have even used craft paper attached with light glue so you can change with seasons. What about moving mirror to above suitcases with big basket of floral stems on top suitcase, then look for more pictures to fill in on stairs?

Love how you open the books and display them. I would put a little hot glue in the deers candle hole and fill with greenery or something a lace covered sewing spool.

You must be an “old soul” dear. I’m 65 and you love things that I have been collecting for years. I’ve never been great at styling them though. For the gold lamp area some ideas you could either stack up on the suitcase or hang on the wall are some throw blankets/blanket scarves, a potted plant/flowers/greenery, a big sized brass horse, a hat rack with vintage hats, or even hanging a coat or some ice skates and a floppy hat, an antique sled, or like a gothic arched window/stained glass piece, tapestry, an oil painting, or even a gallery wall of antique postcards, an accordian rack with some decorations on it would be cute too in that area, or something like that! I also love icy blues!

If you move the suitcases over a bit to hide the outlet, then you could move the light over slightly, too. The floor lamp is blocking your beautiful mirror trim. Love the butter pat display!
I would put a simple wreath or hanging basket with greenery on that wall. Everything looks great
Nice job styling the shelves. I often see just one roll of wallpaper at thrift stores. They are usually very inexpensive. You mentioned perhaps lining the back of the shelves. I’ve used foam board wrapped in pretty paper for the back of my shelves. I change it with the seasons
Your cabinet looks great and your switch was a good one, but I would move your mirror over above the suitcases , take the wooden coat away for now… where u had the mirror, I would add more antique pics, maybe some scenery pics for winter, Etsy has beautiful winter, summer, spring and fall pics to download..

I think the hat hook is for large lady hats with a large brim. If you have an accordion rack that you could hang there, then hang the riding hat, maybe some tall boots on the suitcase or a horse picture on the wall too. You will get it looks great. This is how we all learn.

Have you thought about wrapping paper or material for the back? It’s not as expensive!
You could maybe see if a piece of scrap thick fabric draped over the wall hook could help hold a hat without slipping? A top hat would probably sit on it nicely. In the spring you could switch it out to a ladies straw hat with a black velvet ribbon tied around it. The holder is one of those items that could lend to switching out with the style of hats for the seasons. You do a wonderful job of styling shelves. How clever to use a gravy boat to hold butter pats. Our stairway is not very decorating friendly. 😥

Very pretty! You are correct....it is a hat display. I wonder if you could use a small bit of velvet and some double-sided tape on top of the wooden hat "knob", another inside the hat to hold the hat in place. Velvet sticks to itself very well.

I really like things moved around. I like the changes and do that often in my home. I think the stack of suitcases would look charming under mirror and the lamp closer to the hutch corner. You’d still get the benefit of the light in the whole corner. Love your style 👏🏻

I think the mirror needs a narrow shelf under it, (for a clothes brush?) And the suitcases need something above it. I would put a plant on it for now. Or stand the top case up to make it taller. A hat box would be awesome if you can get a metal one! Ot tall leather boots with the wood stretcher shaper things ( ?) Love your process , good things will happen xx

I like the previous suggestion about the accordion rack or maybe an empty gold frame? Have you thought of switching out the floor lamp with a table lamp on the suitcases? Your shelves look great and you have beautiful hair.
beautiful styling, put the riding hat on top of the suitcases and get a lighter hat for the hook, also a bonnet with a ribbon could be placed over the hook hanging. oh, ha ha, in the end montage you did put the hat on the cases with a nice plaid lap blanket, perfect!

The mirror on your wall is just stunning. I love how you decorated the shelves, so many textures and unique pieces. I have seen people use 12 by 12 scrapbook paper for the back of the shelves at Halloween time and they came out really cool.

You could do a plate wall above the trunks! I change some plates out seasonally (Christmas China, turkey china, and pastel colors in spring).

I really think some hanging greenery there like a planter of some kind. What u have there might work but probably comes out too far or even a planter on the suitcases with tall greenery to fill the space. I'm sure you will find what you like better there.

I have a corner space with a artificial fig tree and what I did was put fairy lights in the tree. It brings soft light. You can put lights in any tree or a plant to bring some light in a dark space. If you like that tree in the corner at the staircase, try that. Just giving you a little suggestion. By the way I love your channel. ❤️
