    I can’t help but feel like climbing Everest is not only putting yourself in danger, but also the people who carry the task of coming to rescue you if things go south.

      For the most part I understand there is a good chance you will be left to die on your own. Sherpas put their own lives at risk to carry you down. This is what I have gathered from Everest documentaries.

    • @GeoJesse
      @GeoJesse 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      just acclimatize. there is a reason why it takes them six months sometimes. the climbers get to nepal and have to stay there for a while so their body can adjust. ive ascended too quickly before (it was at 11k feet so not as impressive, but i got a sample of what it is like) and i was out of breath every four or so steps but after two days (keep in mind this is over half the altitude and not freezing) i could tell a HUGE difference in how much easier it is to breathe. it just takes time. there may be other things you can do i am not aware of but the most helpful thing is just start living at that altitude and live there a couple months and your body will adjust and learn to deal with the thinner air

      I recently visited my daughter in Denver. We had plans to hike 14ers. I was concerned, I had bad headaches above 13000 feet in the Sierras backpacking in the 70s.
      2 weeks before Colorado I camped in Sierras. 2 days spent 8500-10000, went down to town then 2 days at 10400, back down to town then overnight at 10200. The 1st 2 campsites we were moving and thinking slowly and got dizzy a little. The last wasnt so bad except we narrowly escaped dying in a lightning storm. Very terrifying, remember, just go back down! Lesson learned!
      Went home at sea level for 10 days.
      Went to Denver for 2 days then camped at 10000 ft for 5 days ,didnt feel bad at all. The last 2 days we hiked, 1st day 12400, 2nd 14200. It was pretty hard but I drank a lot of water, ate real good and made it up with a lot of help from a Bernese mtn dog!! It was an amazing beautiful trip well worth the effort!
      You do have to be in pretty good shape to do this stuff. Im 57 and I ride my bikes in big mountains frequently. Bike packing and Cycling has taught me to know my body, how to suffer and how to survive!!

    The human body can adapt to high altitude through long-term acclimatization. At high altitude, in the short term, the lack of oxygen causes an increase in the breathing depth and rate (hyperpnea). However, hyperpnea also causes the adverse effect of respiratory alkalosis, inhibiting the respiratory center from enhancing the respiratory rate as much as would be required. In short, long term acclimatization is the answer, live in higher and higher altitude for a year , and then attempt Everest.

      I assume chopper specifications are different, so the question is whether there are helicopters available commercially to be used for rescues up to camp 4 and why they can't have them. I watched the video from the one that landed once, and remmeber it was not specific about all the weather conditions required to achieve it. I hear the speeds the wind can get there are rather high. So, this chopper clearly had different specs, and the weather was hardly on their side initially.

    Since 21,000 feet is about the max a heli can go, it's ridiculous to try to get tp 25,000' to save anyone when you are risking yourself. New Zealand's Laing is a great pilot, but he also knows the limits. (The thinner the air, the less power (lift) to your aircraft.) Listen to that climber -- he has HAPE! (High altitude pulmonary edema -- swelling in the lungs, fluid in them also -- he's lucky Laing could get to him, saving his miserable life!)
    Thousands have "climbed Mt. Everest" but very few have summited. And MANY have had to be rescued, jeopardizing the life of the pilots and other responders who valiantly try and do save them.

    There’s very thin air up there well just bring an air tank

      They have air tank for breathing, the problem is when thin air makes difficult for the helicopter to achieve lift

      Are you really that stupid?
      He meant the air is really thin for the chopper blades to gain or maintain altitude.

    Problem with this comment section is people either that dont want to do it or are very scared. And those people are telling people not to climb Everest. Mate I wouldnt tell you to give up on your dream job or a dream to get a house in Hawaii. A man should not fear death, but to fear never beginning to live.

      If someone can do it without Sherpas literally carrying them and their loads then go for it.

      I get not discouraging other people's dreams. That said, most people's dream job or house in Hawaii won't kill them or others who try to rescue them.

    If the air is too thin then why don’t the helicopter have modified air tanks to go into the engine to make it run

    • @rogercobb3092
      @rogercobb3092 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Atmospheric density =LIFT….. those rotors are rotating wings that generate lift. The engine is fine.

    • @chris18228
      @chris18228 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rogercobb3092 I really don’t remember what this video is about but I’m assuming that the air is too thin so there’s not enough air for the fuel air mixture so It can’t run so they could add Air tanks for the fuel air mixture so It can stay running

    get a supercharged helicopter

    • @pero2727
      @pero2727 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This helicopter is clearly shit for the job; Didier DelSalle went way past the camp 4 altitude when he "landed" on the top of mt. Everest in 2005. So yes, the guys that are in the business of rescuing people from Everest should invest in a better helicopter (supercharged and higher blade angle geometry) instead of making up excuses on how the can't fly to camp 4.

      Btw; a SA 315B Lama set the record at a height of over 12400m way back in 1972, so it could easily ferry tourist to the top of mount Everest and back without breaking a sweat...
