  • This was my second visit to Cartagena to look for an apartment. The plan is still to move from Medellin to Cartagena in May. It has been very difficult trying to locate an apartment when you are not physically located in Cartagena. Let's see how it goes. I have another trip planned for the end of April.

    The key is what the other viewer said below .......ABNB for 1-2 months, to really scope out a good one year lease rental condo beachfront. DO NOT try to do it, in a week.

    Have you seen Wilfredo Cantillo's channel? Pretty awesome videos of Cartagena. While I have been to Cartagena three times, I have not yet visited Manga which looks like it might be a nice place to visit.

    That is a nice loft, I decided to stay in the air bnb for 6 mos. That way I can take my time, meet some friends. More time to look for a decent apt. Good luck finding the perfect apt. Traveling grace.

      I like that idea of staying in an AirBNB for a few months. now I just have to locate a storage facility in cartagena. I need my things close to me.

      It is pretty cheap. I know for sure that I keep overcharged a few times in Medellin. I usually just pay it and move on.

      @@muchit3629 So how should 5 mangos 🥭 be?! Haha he was even given a 6th one for free haha. I’m shocked cause that’s my favorite fruit and $2.68 is low

    • @muchit3629
      @muchit3629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianj1203 Low is subjective my friend. For the American audience yes it may be but in Africa you could get more than that for a dollar. The point i was only making is they always mark up the price when you don't speak the language. BTW I have been to Colombia 4 times.
      Either way it is chump change. It only hurts if you live there and get hit with the gringo price on big ticket items.

    Good luck on your move to Cartagena. You can’t mess with those gringos in Colombia regarding property. Many of them lie and try to make foreign profits. However, the same thing applies even purchasing from a locals. It’s very important to have Colombian friends that you trust that can help you negotiate a fair price.

    The constant begging & being sold something in CTG drives me nuts , couldn't imagine retiring in that city .Good luck finding a spot with hot water it's not common out there because of the hot weather a hot shower isn't seen as important but its easy to adjust eventually & I'd take the ant issues over being greeted by those four legged mini lizards crawling around at night . i have an English speaking Colombian friend that's very trust worthy who can get you plugged in with some apartments for rent . if you need his details LMK.

    Realtors are they the ones that want 12 months in advance and someone to co-sign for you. Is it easier to rent from the owners? Thank you for being a good guy and sharing great information.

    Hey Calrton, what are you considering downtown? Seems like you differentiate that from Boca Grande? Are you referring to El Centro? Just wondering. I've seen lots of rental agencies in Boca Grande, a few in El Laguito. But what are you considering down town? Also what is the Airbnb you stayed in? It looked nice. Wouldn't mind renting it if you give the name. Good luck on the hunt man. I'm looking forward to your future adventures in Cartagena. And I couldn't agree with you more that there is something about Cartagena that makes you just want to enjoy life.
