When my mom had cancer her oncologist called and said she'd decided to do palliative care. What really happened is Ochsner sent her home and had Compassus hospice send a bunch of equipment we had no clue what to do with and we were on our own. She was miserable, gasping, couldn't swallow. We had no idea we were about to be doctors. After calling Compassus repeatedly they finally sent a nice hospice nurse who actually explained what was happening and got her liquid morphine and Ativan. After that she felt no pain again. Compassus never even told her oncologist she died. I don't think the doctors really know how little hospice does, and the oncologist definitely said palliative care, not hospice. All they did was dump it on the family. Horrible experience. And after a person dies at home you now have to figure out what to do with their dead body. Isn't that lovely? It looks like this place has an actual healthcare facility with professionals as opposed to Ochsner and Compassus who just send people home to die while being cared for by family.

Same here. They called it palliative care and then it became hospice. I had to Google how to do everything and they gave me a general number where they have to relay what I say then have a nurse call me back but that didn't always happen. The agency Im with for my dad is incompetent. Some ppl have had good experiences. I have not.

@@stephaniestevens1175 can you change places? Or take him off. I think what would scare me is not being able to go to the hospital. I think there is better care out there. So sorry about your dad.🙏💙

You’re totally missing the point .....if I’m end up being brain dead, vegetative state ....just dead is best as per my interest and if I was able to tell my family ...as they know my wishes
