Pokemon mystery dungeon has a lot of great fan games. Two of my favorites are Special Episode 0: In a Dark Past and Outlaw's Paradise, both of which are ROM hacks from Explorers of Sky. Special Episode 0: In a Dark Past is a prequel featuring Grovyle and Dusknoir when they were young and not yet evolved. And outlaw's paradise is sequel to the Igglybuff side story episode with Armaldo as the main character

PMD DX is the remake of PMD Red/Blue with some additions and QoL - it is highly recommended over the OG and to get new players into the genre. PMD Sky is the definitive version of PMD Time/Darkness. Super PMD is a different story/gameplay experience that is not very well regarded and most tend to not bother playing it. Honestly Gates could be considered the second best Mystery Dungeon game for it's story. Really fills up those gaps wich Explorers didn't like a better built plot twist and of course now your team mates have things to say instead of just being archetypes. And specially the message about how negativity burns down whoever who have lost faith or hope. Even if Super Mystery improved things about gameplay. The first one of course if allmost untouchable but Lets be honest, Is the most random of all four games, and there's some plot holes about how the world works or what are some characteres doing there, still a really good start for the saga. And Explorers still find pretty well narrated and even paced at some points. But still the Dusknoir plot twist was bad handled making it obvious at one point and those momments when you have to pasa some days or beat up huge dungeons make it have some filler and maybe even frustrante a bit as youre using lots of items. Still it has the best worldbuilding and i can understand why this was the most used in PMD fanfics and fanart about that
Super is my favorite game from this spin-off series. The school setting is a good way to build up the main characters and teach them new mechanics in a way that feels natural, and sets up the second half of the game too, where you get to apply everything you've learned at school.
@@wikiuser92 i mean Is allrigjt, but lets be honest. The buildt up drags for soo long, in that regard Explorers has a better slow pace settup as you do stuff while story still progresses.
