When I was doing any serious travelling I put my stuff that could leak or could get damaged by water into ziplock bags. It saved me a number of times. Once a shampoo bottle decided to burst but the bag held it in. It's a pain but it works.
oh yea, all things that can leak themselves are always bagged up.
Just put a couple holes with grommets on low point of bottom of covers and ur golden
nice video, those are good bags, I had the same ones but an older version. After a while I upgraded to the E21 hard ones, I still use them on the 2013.
Not only do I not have this brand of bike, any bike whatsoever, but I don't even have plans on getting a bike 😅 yet I'm still entertained and interested just watching this lol

I have the same bags. In 2019, along with the top case, the space under the seat and another small bag they carried enough for a 9 day touring holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and ending at my Mom's in North Wales. On a Sym Maxsym 600i. They are expandable which is useful and come with rain covers. They are well made and capacious and highly recommended.
Sounds like a nice trip, the Dales and the Lake District are beautiful.

Awesome video, thanks for posting it. I have a 2023 Burgman 400, and spent 6 months talking to numerous vendors, including Givi, Fehling, and many others. I too came up empty handed. I even went to numerous metal shops to look at custom mounts, and none of them could do it without cutting up the Tupperware.
I recently bought a set if Cortech 2.0 bags, but I see no way to attach them securely because if all the tupoerware. And the top straps are too thick to put under the seat.
Thanks to your video, I am going to sell the Cortechs and buy a set if these.

Thanks for this. I haven't had a bike for years but have kinda had my eye on the Burg400 as a balance between local stuff/shopping and maybe touring. That you can't fit hard side cases (yet?) would probably be a deal killer for me. That's partly for the waterproofing & security thing but also because, somewhere up in the loft are my son's alloy Givis from when he had his Honda CBX500.

if you go pre-2016 or so you can mount hard cases. definitely research a bit but it's been possible before. I don't think racks for this generation will ever exist though. that said, these things are a dream to tour on, did a few thousand kilometers over the summer on a camping trip and it was a dream!
Hi there! I was able to customize a rack - although I’ve not idea how to show you. My workshop added a piece of metal extending from the mounting for the pillion foot pegs, after removing the plastic cowlings.

Hinge of the seat might loosen up in the long run, I'd check it every once in a while to be sure.

Maybe put some drains in the bottom of the covers? You would have to put the hole then reinforce it with a grommet to prevent tearing.
yea, a possible solution....but then puddle splash can go up into them.
Hard cases get dents and won't latch, and if the seal is not sit properly water collect and ruin everything. I am using Ortlieb panniers and have been very durable.

I would go with a dry bag setup. Dry Spec, SW Motech...all kinds of good dry bags that mount the same and are waterproof.
the issue i had with the dry bags i saw was internal volume was a lot lower, maybe i missed something good though.
@@EricKlein yes the ones I have, Dry Spec are 20 liter. I also have SW Motech Sysbag 30 liters that are semi hard and require racks but each case has an internal and removable dry bag. Good size and might work inside your cases. Whether SW Motech or their vendors like Twisted Throttle sell them separate I don't know but they might. I think there are waterproof liners out there you could put inside your cases. Just a possibility.
@@MisterSuki yea, can't mount a rack on my burgman without having it custom built by a machine shop, and even then it would be complex as there are no reliable mounting points. but when i need new bags, ill look for something again, itll be a few years hopefully. for now i just don't put anything that can be hurt by water in them which isn't too hard as i have two large waterproof areas on the bike for those things. -E

I got a Givi Mono Lock Case (Top Case) B47, it's pretty solid! Also added the GIVI light kit but it took a lot of extra modification to get working right, the light kit is pretty poorly designed. With about $5 in extra parts I got it working nicely, however. Looks really cool from behind now and visibility is up quite a bit when you are breaking.
hi, nice video i enjoyed watching it i also noticed that you removed the backrest from the seat. Did you do it because of your height so you have more space? i have the same bike model 2021 and I'm 2m tall.

Could't you use the bungy cord from one bag to the other, around the back of the bike?
no real need that i can see. but they are too short for that in my case, i'd need longer ones.
DO they sell also hard ones by GIVI?
GIVI sells hard cases yes, but there is seemingly no way to mount them on a modern Burgman 400.
