I always thought that the Tri blade Scythe would have better tactical coverage if the side blades were further back in the hull. Also given that it's a Mon Calamari ship that the blades might detach for AOE range combat if the ships guns got outnumbered.
I think it looks different and I would enjoy a moncal take on something like a star destroyer. Avoiding the name and association but being that same kind of class of numerous warship
The way I see it, they either could have wrote it so that it was a predominantly torpedo-heavy ship, with the triple prow blades being chock full of ordinance (mych like the lower hull section of an AAT), which would allow the design to save resources by equipping a smaller reactor andlarger hangars for more smallcraft as a result. The other way wiuld be if it was designed as a turbolaser-heavy ship, with all 3 of the prow blades having numerous turbolaser turrets and much of the internal space being taken up by additional tibanna reserves for the weapons and a bigger generator to provide better shields to minimize the risk of the ship blowing up from a breach here or there. That would explain the miniscule smallcraft complement (which logically should just be things like utility shuttles, with fightercraft being supplied by other vessels in the fleet). Either of these options would have made the Tri-scythe a competent design that balances some features over others, and they could even have it so that both exist as variants of the same class that would be deployed alongside each other in the fleet. But apparently they decided the best idea was to do try and prevent the writing flaw of making something too overpowered by looking at all the things it could believably do and have them work all at once, by instead.... making it terrible and underwhelming in all those possible features.
Unless those extra scythes are housing directional shield generators like crazy, trading some firepower for a much greater amount of defense, I can’t imagine what use they would be. Unless they have powerful tractor beam emitters and use them to deflect or redirect enemy missiles, which I guess you could technically call a weapons system?
I believe it’s probably a third of the size of the Scythe and is more of a patrol gunship. At 275 meters it’s probably built for hit and hype attacks against larger ships and can act as a screen against star fighters. Heavier weaponry probably would’ve taken away power from propulsion or shields.
So they tried one blade, that worked. They try three blades, not as good. How about just two? I have my own design for a X-shaped bridge on a capital ship. Has some good crossfire.
perhaps the blade proved to be too tempting a target for enemy fighter sto disable the blade, the "outer" blades may be acting as spaced armor to protect the main blade? that could also allow a more lightly built blade with increase internal volume. that coudl in turn allow for a better magazine system to give a higher rate of fire, better fire control systems, etc.
Hey MetaNerd, Love your videos. I have a quick question for ya, what is your opinion on the scifi concept of living ships? And if you were on board a space ship yourself, what sea shanty are you singing til your shift is over?
I would take a Tr-Scythe over a Lancer any day. Also a Scythe is a Battlecruiser with almost four times as many crew members, while a Tri-Sycthe is a Frigate so if the Scythe didn't substantially outgun the Tr--Scythe someone really screwed up when designing the Scythe, either in universe or IRL. Claiming the Tri-Scythe is useless is like claiming the Nebulon-B is useless because its outgunned by an imperial class Star Destroyer
no offense , but i can't stand most legends designs ..this is an outstanding example, as to why .lol. the only thing that ever commented disney for is breaking legends off of canon..not EVERY stupid idea should to into lore ..lol.
At least the authors and designer of legends content created new designs and not every design is bad. Disney just straight up copied everything (including the designs of ships) from the original trilogy

The Scythe Mach 3 delivers a much closer shave because it cuts the hair again before it can bounce back.
😂🎉
Emperor palpation recommends it for 100 percent wookie hair cleaning
Scythe, a design so nice, you put it thrice
You Dis the Scythe class freight ship🤨🧐💬.
I guess it's like a hammerhead shark, if they have those on Mon Cala.
Otherwise someone saw a C-9979 landing craft and turned it 90 degrees
But the rule of cool is where it shines at.

I’d be interested in seeing the kind of ship designs an actual engineer would come up under the constraints of Star Wars tech.

It still looks cool
pls do the pellaeon class next 🙏🏻
soon actually

Look at Fallout Securitron
Those ramming blades look good 😅😂
What is with big sensorpods?
Have you heard of any ships from Honor Harrington?
HMS Nike (BC-413) for the win, hell's yes.
the blade is a very Quarren style piece.
Hey can you do a video on the BC-304 from stargate?
Three blades means you can slice three ships in one go. That or you can slice one big ship into five pieces. Embrace the ramming speed!

Im pretty sure star trek discovery stoe his idea , but a single scythe , designed to ram ships , 😊
Seems like comparing the Acclamtor 1&2. More cost in one way or another for less capabilities
Not a dud, a deuce.
Has modularity gone too far?
Dropping duds is funny!
But it does look kool
Why call it a Scythe when you may as well call it a Pitchfork?
Its what you get when authors who dont understand what they are writing about...get free reign.
I will never understand the design philosophy of killing view and screwing up fire arcs. Most SW ships are just dumb and only look cool.
Cannon fodder
Scythe..designed by someone who needs Grammarly.
no offense ,

All of the Scythes are terribly designed. They look dumb and they are dumb.
