Lk 11:1-4
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished,
one of his disciples said to him,
"Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
He said to them, "When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread
and forgive us our sins
for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,
and do not subject us to the final test."

It's like a parent knowing you want something, or need something, but they want you to ask for it. God knows everything, yet to humble yourself to ask Him for His help, His blessing shows humility.

Would it be valid to see it as a way to keep our thoughts and actions on check? Praying accompanied with self-reflection gives us a chance to identify negative patterns in our lives and come up with solutions by comparing to rethoric or even literal biblical references. It'd be critical to always keep in mind a sense of seeking reunion with our social context.
