    Man I'm wanting mod my daily driver Cruze now LOL, I bought it just for a work car and told myself NO MODS and haven't so far I bought my wife a 2016 ATS 2.0T in 2018 and said the same NO MODS well I got your intake, catch can and now I want the intercooler down pipe cams pretty much everything LOL but she'll find out if I do all that so maybe I'll undercover my Cruze. I have a SLP SS 2000 Camaro that's built/show car with 25k but I need to tinker ! Love your parts and videos guy's.

    Serious question though, turbo Tim... how did the IATs go 6 degrees under ambient temperature?

    Would you do the cam’s also at the same time of springs?

    • @gbrunner24
      @gbrunner24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're going to do the valve springs first, cam will come later down the line.

    • @driftpunk697
      @driftpunk697 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the sake of video valve springs then cams to see the reasonable progression of individual gains and how they compound upon eachother. However, as a customer, springs coupled with cams would be a good idea, budget allowing, since you're already in there and they go hand in hand. May also be worth doing valve seals with the springs while in there, depending on your mileage.

    I wonder how much modifying a cruze to take an LSJ/LNF drivetrain?

    What rpms should we be shifting this little guys with just the bolt ons?
    Is the stock turbo being a restriction a cause to shut it down alittle earlier?

    • @shawnnewell1415
      @shawnnewell1415 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stock turbo won’t have any power up top so no point in pushing to redline.

    How hard is it to dyno an automatic and get good reading from say 2500 RPM? Is your dyno an inertia or load bearing dyno?

    How is the reliability? I had a cruze and wanted to do stuff it but I had so many problems with it when it was stock.

      I got a 2013 manual Cruze with 20k miles back in 2016, I immediately tuned it, all the zzp parts and water meth injection, only replaced alternator and front brakes, still stock clutch after 117k miles now. No engine, driveline or PCV failures!!

    Zzp, why does it seem common that folks say that these engines are "junk"

    • @gbrunner24
      @gbrunner24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. The engine itself is extremely reliable, even in stock form. The downside is all of the plastic bits that GM bolted to them. Once you get past the PCV failures (which we have a fix kit for), and freshen up/upgrade the coolant system (which is made of crappy plastic parts) they're a great engine.

    • @driftpunk697
      @driftpunk697 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As someone who works for GM, they may be confusing it with the 1.5 in the Malibu, which has a pretty common failure with their hollow camshafts breaking in half on the intake side when the High pressure fuel pump goes out, and press-fit reluctors getting spun on the exhaust cam when the vacuum pump seizes and the drive gear comes apart. Either failure can also damage the cam phaser at the other end as well.
      As one of the engine guys at the shop I do 1-2 of those cam, phaser, pump (sometimes head), and sensor combos a week, usually under 50k miles.
      The couple times I see a Cruze, it's usually a burned up auto trans with a broken wave plate and smoked clutches. I personally haven't really seen any common "major" failures out of the 1.4 engines themselves.
