    "Wonderwall," is a George Harrison album, released (long before there ever was an Oasis) in 1968.

    Oasis got a lot from Harrison. Noel knew about George's beautiful song called 'Be Here Now' (on Living in a Material World) and thought hey that sounds sweet.
    Edit: Jeff Beck even had a song called 'Definitely Maybe' in '72

    Outstanding job as usual, James. Personally, I believe Noel is both deceptive and truthful about his lyrics depending on the circumstance. I believe the story about the lyrics being "wishing stone" and I also believe that he told his girlfriend it was about her, and I'm certain it was nicked from the Harrison album. I think he just thought the word is cool and used it with an understanding that it's about a woman who is his "ray of light", so to speak. I don't believe he saw the movie, though. But as Noel has always said about his lyrics, he likes for people to interpret them as they choose to make the songs more personal to them, so a Wonderwall can be whatever you want it to be. But I like your definition best and that's the way I always interpreted the song myself, not knowing about the movie, of course.

Song writers are creative people, they see a different meaning in something that’s maybe normal to us, they’re able to remove the self censoring aspect in the brain and see a different perspective to something. And Noel did a lot of drugs back then, lol

    • @miketowns6467
      @miketowns6467 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A late Oasis B-Side by Noel was called 'Those Swollen Hand Blues' which is a lyric from the song 'Nobody Home' off The Wall. Usually when he mentions that album (which I think is his favourite Floyd album like it is for me) he mentions that song & even says in one interview that he was obsessed about it like he gets with other classic songs & that when he gets obsessed with a tune like that he'll rip it off in multiple different songs lol.
      But yeh 'Vera' just needs to say "about you now" after the "feels the way I do" bit & it would be very 'Wonderwall'-esque so I wouldn't be surprised if it did come from that song knowing how much Noel loves The Wall.

The title gives the vibe that it is an unsolved mystery, but all this information is freely available on the songfacts page. I've never understood the fascination with this song. It's not extraordinary. It's not that musically interesting. Is it mass hypnosis via the establishment? There are far more musically interesting songs. There are only 3 major record companies left, and only a handful of companies run the corporate media, who have far too much influence over the masses. The fact that people have been hypnotized to think Oasis is anywhere near the same ballpark as The Beatles, is beyond ridiculous. Acts like XTC, Elvis Costello, Smiths, Sparks etc are far closer to that ballpark. They've written and created far more musically interesting songs. 'Wonderwall' bores me silly, no matter what the story is behind it.
