One of my favourites has always been “If We Shadows”, from Be Here Now’s deluxe. Only a demo with Noel on acoustic but it actually works. Very strange lyrics and clearly unfinished but the melody is so haunting that it’s stuck with me for years. I’d love to hear someone finally talk about it.
Hey James, just in regard to “Can Y'See It Now? (I Can See It Now!!)”; there’s a couple important things about that track you and your viewers should know! I recall a few years ago on the Matt Morgan podcast that Noel mentioned the track is actually “Mucky Fingers” played backwards at half speed with drums and new lyrics over the top (I’d have to go back and find the episode of the podcast he mentioned it to confirm, but I’m 95% sure of this). Also the track was featured for the Neu! tribute album called “Brand Neu”. For those who don’t know, Neu! was a German krautrock band from the 70’s, highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t heard them before, their debut self-titled album is great. Now I’m not sure whether the track was initially made for this tribute album or not, but I know that Neu! was a band that influenced Noel a lot. I saw the High Flying Birds in 2016 in Melbourne and the DJ played Neu! before Noel’s set which was the first time I heard of them. Kasabian and Primal Scream also have tracks on the Neu! tribute album. If I find the episode of the podcast that Noel mentions “Can Y'See It Now? (I Can See It Now!!)”, I’ll post any further information in the replies. Have a nice day!
Funnily enough, that "Get on with it" at the beginning of Talk Tonight (US Release) is the EXACT same recording as the one at the beginning of "The Masterplan." Thank you, to the #1 Oasis Nerd!
Who put the weight is soo good. Excellent video, thanks for this. I hadn't ever heard some of these. What a gift. Heres a prayer that these brothers can come together again. I dont care if oasis never get back together. I just want them to bury the axe.
The "Get on with it" is actually on the end of "Round Are Way" on the US single (it's the same for the UK version). It appears again at the beginning of "The Masterplan". I wonder if at some point "Round Are Way" and "The Masterplan" were ment to be joined together on the single but then they put "The Swamp Song" between them instead. I always found it weird that the "Get on with it" was used twice on the single that way.
James it so great all the videos about obscure Oasis tracks. I have a Don`t Look back in Anger single, released in Brazil, that is in fact the US version with Cum On Feel The Noize. CD singles are not usual here, but I believe this is so rare.
An interesting fact both Noel Gallagher and Rivers Cuomo from Weezer wrote approximately 50 songs before taking the rock world by storm. They both chose the path of the songwriter, which turned out well for them and their fans. Rivers was a shredder and metal head before. He has some serious chops to go with his songwriting expertise. Also I've observed that both fan groups nerd out over their b-sides, which at times are as good or better than their a-sides. As always good stuff. I'll be going down this rabbit hole in the description section.
For the UNKLE Beachhead mix of Cast No Shadow, there exists a promo CD with the finished mix and the instrumental mix, and using phase cancellation between the two, you can isolate Noel's vocal track. So it is entirely possible to improve the sound of Noel's vocal track!
Two more fun alternates to note: Where Did It All Go Wrong? (Semi-Acoustic Version) - Epic promo CD, not sure if it ever got a UK release. Alternate mix of the album version with a more stripped back approach. The Hindu Times (demo) - from the DVD single. Most of the demos are just demos but this is practically a different song. Much darker lyrics in a Gas Panic vein. "The ghost that is your soul, it leaves me cold, babe/'cause you get so high you just can't feel it/got no sunshine, just got rain". Drugs're bad, mkay?
Boy With The Blues (on Spotify on the NCIS soundtrack 2009) and I Believe In All from the Japanese version of Dig Out Your Soul (on TH-cam). Both great tunes. Think both were written by Liam.
You gotta love Oasis because they really honour so many great bands too. Bonehead once said its all the best bits of all the best bands rolled into one.
James, have you ever did any digging into how/why Gem managed to get on vocals for the Heathen Chemistry Tour? I saw them a lot on that tour and always saw Gem with a mic and did some vocals, however the mix was always too low that i could never hear him. He never said anything into the mic and none of the bootlegs i have heard you cant even hear him. I am just wondering if there was any way of finding out how exactly it came about and why it also then ended on that only tour.
First time you heard it was 8 hours ago. Stop trying to impress folk by telling lies. You’ve probably only heard 2 oasis songs. Wonderwall and don’t look back in anger.
@@rhendry5832 Anyway, it's not *that* rare. It was featured in Goal, which was a big film back in 2005, around the same time as Don't Believe The Truth came out so I don't have to say any more than that you troll.
Hah. How funny that I got this video recommended to me on an Oasis song I had never heard before and was recently released on the official Oasis channel. Wasn't disappointed either as I indeed did not know any of the songs you listed! You have a very wholesome and soothing voice. Liked and faved!
James ! THANK YOU for this amazing ultimate fan info! Shakermaker is one of myfavorite songs -for example- BUT you confirmed the -shall we say -INSPIRATION😂- for the melody❤❤❤
One of my favourite obscure Oasis songs is “Solve My Mystery”, which was later released by Noel as “Revolution Song”. It is essentially the same song but in my opinion the original was way better in terms of arrangement and Noel’s singing.
Still have the album (and GOAL album which is horrendous) and single re the Carnation single. It was a strange time as they were almost incognito. This appeared and I just had a feel that something wasn't right within the band, I don't know what. Just felt weird. I didn't realise the band as we knew them were never going to be seen again. And on a sidenote, the Carnation cd being that weird clear disc thing as a precursor to the SOTSOG's singles is geekily noteworthy 😂
There’s another song where Noel referenced All the Young Dudes: Don’t Look Back in Anger. During the refrain (so sally can wait…) there’s a guitar playing the notes of the melody “all the young dudes…” That’s specially audible in the SACD remix. There’s also some similarities in the chord progression of these two songs.
You could have also mentioned the instrumental hidden track at the end of Heathen Chemistry after a few minutes of silence after Better Man. A nice relaxing psychedelic tune, a bit Pink Floyd-y. And if you are considering non-Oasis releases, I would recomend checking out the Death in Vegas song Scorpio Rising, sung by Liam. I love that song. Some other ones I'd suggest checking out are the SOTSOG demos with Noel on vocals, particularly Go Let It Out and Who Feels Love. There's also a demo version of Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is, with Noel on vocals.
Great idea James. Your clearly an Oasis obsessive, any chance you could do more of these for other bands or singers? Im thinking for other Manchester bands of the era like Stone Roses and The Verve.
Well SAID! Michael Nesmith sang this on what became his final tour with the MONKEES - a live version ( with Mickey Dolenz of course) can be found on The Mike and Mickey Show. Mike sounded strong - the song structure is great -- as a fan I was blown away by a Noel Gallagher/MONKEES intersection!!
Great video as usual. However, surprised you didn’t notice that can y see it now is essentially. mucky fingers slowed down. You can pretty much sing the entire song over it.
A few other ones come to mind. I really like this one Where Did It All Go Wrong? (Semi-Acoustic Version). The demos from the Heathen Chemistry and Don't Believe The Truth DVD singles are also interesting.
See The Sun is in my opinion one of the best Oasis songs ever. It's a crime it has never been properly recorded and released. I understand its vibe is quite "madchester" and didn't fit Definitely Maybe, but they should have put it out as a B-side like they did with Alive and Cloudburst.
In my opinion, the demo version of "Stop The Clocks" is the best thing. The only thing that I edit from this song is the outro. Instead of it, the repeating and fading out of the last word of Noel "sound". Like an echo. Follow by "Those Swollen Hand Blues" and "Who Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders". Cheers.
Does anyone remember Liam talking about a song he wrote as far back as 1996 called The Lost Chord? It never emerged but the year after he released that song he co-wrote with John Squire for the Seahorses. Noel also mentioned in 2001 a tune Revival that never surfaced and I think in those demos for Be Here Now there were two tunes called Everybody's A Winner and The Red, The White, The Blue which never got officially released.
The red white blue appears to have turned into I hope I think I know, done alot of digging into this. Rumour has it , it was originally quite offensive and almost EDL
I heard bits and pieces of a demo of One Way Road with an electric guitar in the intro, but I can't find the complete song anywhere. I think that would be interesting to find and hear.

Couple other things to point out from one Oasis nerd to another: The Japanese-only 2014 reissue bonus tracks are not exclusive to the 3CD edition - they're also on the Japanese 1CD edition. This holds true for all three Chasing The Sun reissues (which have the acoustic demos of Hello and All Around The World, plus the Saturday night Knebworth Wonderwall). Of course, they weren't as popular as the 3CD editions and are quite a bit harder to find. But if, like me, you already have the "normal" 3CD edition, and the Japanese 1CD edition is cheaper than the Japanese 3CD, you can save a bit of money. Can Y'See It Now? was also on a V/A comp called Brand Neu! in 2009. A much cheaper way to obtain the song! The American Wonderwall single has a different mix (possibly the Orinoco mix) of Wonderwall. It's the same alternate mix as on Stop The Clocks/Time Flies, except the channels are reversed. Talk Tonight is actually not a different mix; the difference in tone you're hearing is down to the mastering. It does of course use the original ending but I wouldn't call that an alternate mix, just an alternate edit. Ditto Rockin' Chair, which is the same mix but sounds quite different due to much darker EQ. Round Are Way and I Am The Walrus are the same mixes as the Creation singles, but the channels are swapped on I Am The Walrus for some silly reason. Also, all the songs except Rockin' Chair are less brickwalled than the Creation CDs - still quite loud and compressed, but with quite a bit more dynamic range than we're used to.
I’ve had Pass Me Down the Wine in my head for a couple days now. That is another great one from the great ones (Oasis). ATM, I forget if that’s a Liam or Andy song…think it’s Liam… 🤔
James, I love the Setting Sun acoustic versions Noel used to play before Fade In Out during the BHN tour. I had the version he played in Brazil in March/98 recorded on cassete, I used to play it all the time. Within/without you is brilliant. And it was Liam who chose to make this track.
A couple of very rare songs by Oasis (but not that great) are "Colour My Life", and the terrible "Life In Vein". I am not sure who wrote those songs. Both have Liam in the leading vocals
There is a song I found on limewiire decades ago called heathen chemistry in which Noel announces that his bell end smells of leather.. no shit. I cannot find it anywhere now
@@andiholman2543 I wonder if he does shit though just to F with James lol I wouldn't put it past him but I reckon he really likes James and that James is spot on on most things. Would be great if Noel gave him an interview. I reckon he would he's mellowed a lot has Noel these days
The Oasis soundcheck version of Everybody's on the Run is the real original version with the brakes off that we never quite got: th-cam.com/video/oIwSipxNbZc/w-d-xo.html
I have only just realised I can see it now wasnt on the UK album. I got a pre release version of Don't Believe The Truth with I can see it now as the last track. I always thought it was supposed to be there. Didn't understand what you were on about in this video!😂
I love that demo version of Some Might Say. It's slower, and the intro solo is different. I remember me and my band at the time used to cover that song and after hearing the demo one day I played the demo intro solo, and the rest of the guys looked at me and asked "what the hell did you do there?" implying that I had messed up, so I had to explain to them, hehe.
Ah - they were only ever meant to be temporary. I try to do a regular clean up so its not too cluttered for new people coming to the channel. So stuff like that is typically only up for a little while, for people who are following my music stuff :)
"Can you SEE it Now" is a perfect crescendo to the build up of a good idea ...in the head of a mastermind
I love who put the weight of the world on my shoulders. You can really hear the pain in Noels voice and lyrics on that one.
Agreed. You can always tell when he means it
Noel probably likes that phrase and has used it in other songs like Black and White Sunshine. Also Liam on Nothing Nowhere
One of my favorite songs ever written.
I'm a hardcore Oasis fan and I haven't heard of most of these. Thanks for highlighting these tracks!

James, very important question, will you be going to Liam Gallaghers 30th anniversary of definitely maybe tour next year?
As long as I can get tickets in time, that's the plan!
Always a bit of a mad stampede though isnt it hahaha
I’m hoping I can get some too! But yeah your absolutely right 😂
There is a song I found on limewiire decades ago called heathen chemistry in which Noel announces that his bell end smells of leather.. no shit. I cannot find it anywhere now
The Quiet Ones is such a good one
Eyeball Tickler! Gem reminds the band on how to write punk rock
What I've always wanted to hear is Slide Away without fading out at the end.
I believe Noel secretly loves this channel
Me too
I think he has referenced it once.
@@andiholman2543 yes when he spoke about the stems
The Cast No Shadow on GOAL kinda makes me think of a sort of a Cast No Shadow if made in the SOTSOG era, just the vibes are similar
James, what time are you playing at the Camden Eye on 9th December?
Doors open 630, I think we're on at 9 👍👍
Heard all of them
It's like I got a new Oasis album!
I remember hearing Merry Xmas Everybody on the radio at christmastime on Radio 1
Some might say noel Gallagher in vox, drums, bass and guitar demo version is a favourite of mine
What happened to all the videos in subject towards your album?
Ah - they were only ever meant to be temporary. I try to do a regular clean up so its not too cluttered for new people coming to the channel. So stuff like that is typically only up for a little while, for people who are following my music stuff :)
The Colour Of My Life, prob not many would of heard that
