I taped it off the radio and remember thinking Squire over did it on Champagne Supernova. John was great on the first Roses album, but after that he was just too much, and continues to be so.

Had the chance to interview Noel for a feature in Rolling Stone Argentina. I asked him about the Amorphous scrapped album, he told me that it wouldn't be released because they never achieved a satisfactory mix of the songs.

It’s the same with the Beatles though. They hit on complex song structures because they sounded good and retrospectively everyone thinks they were genius or coached or knew theory. It was just playing every day for 10 years that did it.

Nice! I think that night 3 was the one where Liam threatened to knife someone who wouldn’t stop shining a laser pointer at him. Didn’t know full footage existed of that! What a gig film THAT would make
Your idea of an alternate version of SOTSOG sounds interesting - reminds me of what the Manic Street Preachers did a couple of years ago when they released a new version of "Know Your Enemy" that remixed all the songs and rearranged them back into the double album that was planned.
The Knebworth broadcast used to be available everywhere online, and Squire's guitar was not only out of tune, but his playing was also sloppy. I think I heard in a later interview that he was sick, so he might have even asked later to mute his playing himself. Either way, he did not sound good at all and most likely feels embarrassed about his performance. Also, Gem and Andy did not play on SOTSOG. Noel and Paul Stacey recorded their parts ;)
Alan White was the bands most creative and effective drummer. Unfortunately for Whitey he couldn't do as much creative stuff as he was more than capable of because the songs Noel was writing between 95-99 were very limited in their structuring, if that makes sense. I owe Alan a beer for playing such good grooves on Wonderwall, DLBIA, and Champagne Supernova and inspiring me to get behind the kit.
I would like to add: - Noel live@TCT 2007, for which we only got pro-video of DLBIA. - Why did every band who contributed to Sgt.Pepper 40 anniversary sessions got filmed and included in the relative doc...except Oasis, for which we only got pictures???
Squire is omitted from the commercial recordings due to a rights issue with his record company. He would also need to be paid a writers credit as the Knebworth version would be considered an ‘original’.
Surprised u mentioned that album yet missed out the fact that the best songs on the whole record were the few that bonehead guest appeared on. adding his very own distinct sound.playing jazz fusion, bosa nova and flamenco guitar
I'm sure with SOTSOG, the parts weren't re-recorded by Andy and Gem as they were not in the band till the tour. Noel and engineer Paul Stacey redid Guigsy and Boneheads parts. The night before Be Here Now was released there was a documentary on BBC2 called "Right Her, Right Now" I think. Me and my mates watched it and stayed up all night to go to Our Price at 6am to buy the album. The G-Mex gig was live on TV too as I have a VHS somewhere which I recorded it to. Think it was on MTV.
Yeah, Andy wasn't even in the band when they shot the Go Let it Out video - the band's performance in it is a 4-piece with Noel on bass and Liam on acoustic guitar.
So many hidden gems to be discovered hopefully one day. U could do a whole show about all the "lost" Oasis songs. I wanna hear Stop the Clocks recorded by Oasis with a liam Vocal. Also most of NGHFB debut recorded by oasis im sure that exists too.
Thanks for bringing up White's departure. That's always been a mystery to me, and I never accepted Noel's explanation. . . Love his playing. Major collaborator on WTSMG -- such a unique touch that helped the band nail their more ambitious efforts. I've come to accept with Oasis you're half way out the door if one of the brother's didn't like you, loyalty be damned. I thought Liam had a good relationship with White, but it sounds like both of them wanted to sack him for Starkey. I wonder if him getting tinnitus was an issue. when you consider how Noel manufactured his exit to make the others look bad it's plausible they are all giving conflicting reports to avoid them looking bad for sacking a drummer simply because they wanted someone else. . .
I remember reading about alan white being fired because he leaked heathen chemistry on the internet, probably things got rough with liam during that time..and i also remember something about a bar fight both liam and alan were involved in in Germany both of which got arrested and liam lost his wisdom tooth if I'm not wrong, and btw whats really a mystery to is what happened to guigsy
I believe I have a bootleg recording of both Knebworth nights - Audience > DAT source for 1996-08-10, and Soundboard > FM for 1996-08-11. I'll have a compare with the official release, but if you want a copy please let me know.
I like 'em both for different reasons. It's hard to imagine Tony on all of _Morning Glory_ or _Be Here Now_ and, likewise, hard to imagine Whitey on _Definitely Maybe._ I'll be thrilled if they hit up Alan White for the reunion, though my money's on Chris Sharrock.
I’ve got a couple for you James. 1) I can never pick out Weller’s backing vocals on Champagne Supernova. Do you have the ability to isolate it? 2) What the heck is Liam shouting at the start of Colombia??
I think I have heard the Weller backing vocals, I think you need to listen to the isolated channels from the SACD morning glory and you can hear them on there. I think they’re on the outro - pretty sure he sings a high falsetto part
Regarding Columbia, it's not Liam. It's from a film or TV show or maybe even a famous speech. Can't remember the details but I heard it years ago. It definitely ain't Liam, though
I recently Supersonic again but on IMAX. Maybe 7 people in the entire theater 😂. Sad. But it was great to watch again and on a massive screen. Hope there’s another project coming for be here now era
Yeah for what I recall Noel re recorded their parts on Sotsog. They left in August and at that time they were about to mix the album. There wouldn't be enough time to find new band members and have them to record the parts and then mix the album in December.
Agree James that GMex gig is epic. Defo need this mastered. And them lost albums sounds unreal. Need that BHN rethink and that Vegas DBTT. I love SOTSOGs too so would love to hear that lost album. Most underrated album in my opinion (mainly by Noel lol).
Noel Gallagher and Dizzee Rascal have both mentioned doing a track with each other about 3-5 years ago that’s never been released. I hope it gets released one day because i genuinely have no idea how it would sound
I have a bootleg CD bought from a market stall back in the day of the G-Mex gig on 14/12/1997. Its a 2 disc CD called The Home Coming with 17 tracks on it. Sounded amazing then and still does today.
Great video. It's 60 years since Beatles albums and they still have stuff held back. Noelk is a clever bunny but any release should be done soon before Ai ruins everything and nothing is private anymore. :)
Small error at 5:30; the rhythm guitar and bass parts on SOTSOG were not re-recorded by Gem & Andy. All lead, rhythm and bass were played by Noel on the album.
Apparently, the first ever gig to be properly live streamed was The Who. I think they were playing in a huge hotel basement in Vegas. (Was it called The Vegas Job?) Anyways, apparently the stream was worldwide but it had lots of technical issues. This is the first time I've heard of the Balloch Castle, Loch Lomond gig being streamed.
There's that sparse clip that does the rounds of Liam in his giant black coat, with hood up, and Neol in his leather jacket, and the two exchanging a cheeky kiss. THere's also the infamous story in the run-up to the gig where Liam's voice was shredded, he cod;t even speak, and was meant be having a few nights of requisite R n R in a placid hotel to convalesce, away from the chaos and the chang..BUT as he's approaching the driveway, so the legend goes, Johnny Five Bellies clocks him - cut to Gazza goading Liam to have a drink (or twelve). Liam, contrary to conventional wisdom, decided that a quiet night in his room watching Gladiators/Blind Date/Stars in their Eyes might not be conducive to a golden voice at Loch Lomond, decides to join famously crazy/alcoholic/depressove/OCD and ADHD-beset Gasgoine. They drank ceaselessly - I can only imagine the type fo numbers we're talking (30 pints and 15 shots?, and whatever Liam was having). Somewhat inexplicably Liam showed up for the gig AND the whiskies had evidently annihilated the germs decimating his immune system. By all accounts he sang seamlessly - unless that's the reason Noel wants to the tapes jettisoned. But Liam has said, against all odds, he sounded good...Then again he was only in his early 20s...pratically invincible.
Here’s a big mistery: how come the best tracks from the BHN era were left as B sides? Those songs are plain Brilliant. The Masterpland should have been at least a double album.
It is truly amazing that while they were creating their first and best three studio albums, they also recorded enough material for two more, which could easily have been better than anything they've released since.
'Going Nowhere' is one of the greatest Oasis songs ever IMO. Why it was hidden away on a B-side is a complete mystery. It's the same with 'The Fame', both songs would have been better on the BHN album than some of the tosh that's on there!
Re the Knebworth broadcast, if I remember correctly, there was a slight delay in the broadcast as the two Be Here Now tracks were "edited" out and not broadcast and it was defo bootlegged on double CD, as I got a copy from Camden Town market the week after and it had audience copies of the Be Here Now tracks edited in. And I'm sure that couple of the NG/AA tracks (or at least guitar or bass parts) were used on some AA albums/compilations.
Great video. Be Here Now is a funny one isn’t it. I still remember buying it before school in Safeway on day of release. Personally although the album’s production is pretty bloody mental I think it should be left as is. It’s of its time. It’s noise noise and noise and it’s beautiful. I thought the re master of DYKWIM was a bit too tidy and just seemed to lack a bit of ooomph. But we are so lucky to have this album. Sorry this is a bit long.
True story, went to the Gym today (have to, I'm 53 and need to keep the weight down) and have music I listen to. On came Columbia and, just as it got going (I love Columbia, awesome song), I looked to my right and this kid had a top on with the word 'Columbia' on the back of it. Total f**king surreal moment. Sorry, not really on topic but had to put this on a JH video comment as it was so coincidental and weird. Ok, now watching this video, what's the first bit of audio? Must be one of those days!
I was talking to my brother about a random stereophonics song and he was listening to that exact song at that exact time I asked him about it😂I wouldn't mind but it had been out years , what are the chances of that happening 😂
you make some interesting points.....Another mystery is what happened to finsbury park 2002 footage ? all 3 nights filmed......Also Garden Hall,Tokyo,Japan (26/08/1995) filmed by Japan TV crew more effort needs to be done to track down this epic footage ! Regarding GMex the sound is terrible both nights were also filmed and need a complete remaster....Would be nice to see GMEX first night to see if it's in fact better than night 2 :)
I have a copy of the Knebworth concert on a BASF 90 cassette I recorded from BBC Radio at the time. Driving around in my Nova with mates listening to it.
Knebworth. Me and my brother had a double CD recording of the whole gig. I recall we obtained it through a friend who owned a music shop in Mitcham. It was a direct recording of the radio with Jo Whiley occasionally reminding us of who we were listening to and where. Jons playing was clearl on this but it was obvious that he wasn't at his best and very over bloated. Unfortunately the CDs got damaged in unknown circumstances which pissed me right off and it skipped constantly to the point it was unplayable. The inlay was crude but it did include a track list which also had tracks of Whiley speaking amd as I recall fans giving opinion.
I wonder if the fact that Squire's guitar was pitchy could account for the removal of audio. I've always been bothered by the intonation issues with his instrument in Champagne Supernova at Knebworth, it always took the edge off a great performance. Anyone else agree?
On the 25th anniversary teaser for Be Here Now a couple years ago, there is pretty clean looking footage from G-Mex (only a small part of the walk into the stage) and a bit of what I believe is the 2nd night at Earls Court, so it's very likely that all 3 nights were fully recorded and filmed. I wish they'd just release all of them lol.
i love the "There and Then" footage but wish they'd included the whole of both gigs. Whatever at Maine Rd is hilarious when they fall out over the vocals
Man I love how James is too concerned about copyright (I assume) to put one second of Oasis music in any one of his videos but he's just so great at doing it that none of us will ever care about that
Considering how many shows they played, why were some of their songs never played live? In particular Hey Now, She’s Electric (with Liam singing) and Underneath The Sky?
Firing Alan was the real end of Oasis to me. What makes it worse was no 100% motivated/fully involved replacement. Lost "album" to me could be the Unplugged gig.
In Slide Away, why does Liam now sing “We BOTH know what to do” Instead of, like on the album version “We DONT know what to do”?? He changed the lyric around 99-00 time and it’s still baffling me now. Loads of the crowd sing the wrong line too…
There are no band credits whatsoever in the liner notes, only credits for additional musicians. This may be because they were unsure who would replace Guigs and Bonehead but still wanted to present the band as a five-piece group, so they left the information out to avoid confusion. Additionally, according to Bonehead, some of his contributions can be heard on the album, which might indicate Noel’s usual shady attitude - remaining silent about performances and creative contributions to preserve his own legacy.
James, what do you know about a song from around the Be Here Now era called The Red, The White and The Blue? It was talked about, I seem to remember it was referring to the Union Jack and may have got scrapped in case it got “adopted by skinheads” which seems unlikely as that movement more related to the eighties
Great video. I'd like to know whatever happened to purported songs of "Daytura Dream Deferred" and "Slow," among a lot of others named over the years (decades ...😬)
Noel Gallagher swearing on the radio broadcast of a concert is a reference. The swearing is in the exact order in the Derek and Clive sketch The Critics. Where Peter Cook and Dudley Moore play a pair of snobby critics laying in to Derek and Clive.
When Noel was asked about why Alan White left, he mentioned that there was a big argument between Liam and Alan, he wasn’t sure what it was about or what happened
As someone who's fascinated and loves some of the Oasis demos and outtakes and what not, it blows my mind is the first time I've heard of the possibility of the SOTSOG alternate version, but given the ungodly amount if money they're set to make with thia reunion, I don't think we'll ever ever get any of this vaulted stuff, say I don't know lochmond Finsbury and othe live concerts, let alone past albums where Noel was not satisfied with the sound or results, because let's be honest many of this stuff not releasing is either because Noel doesn't feel it will add up anything to the Oasis legacy, or he simply can't be arsed to care, i think he only okays stuff he deems worthy historically, say knebworth wouldn't probably get re release and all that if it wasn't for the record attending, by Noel's own admision it was musically a particularly good concert, or at least not amongst Oasis best anyway apart from the history moment nostalgia etc
Oasis performance on Granada TV I think?? from 1992?? Think they did Take Me if I remember correctly. It's mentioned in Tony Mccarolls book.. still not seen the light of day.
I've had a few homemade Cointreaus, so maybe this is a Mandela Effect, but I do remember an interview with Noel where he was asked why Alan White was fired, and he replied (paraphrased): "I like Alan a lot... but his personal life is an absolute mess." And that was that.
All I could find on it was a retyped quote from an interview in the Big Issue in 2005: Then, to cap it all, drummer Alan White became the band's latest line-up casualty. Noel won't explain why, simply saying: "He's a f**king great guy and he's one of the best drummers I've ever met in my life, but his personal life is utter f**king chaos. In the end, he f**ked off and we haven't seen him since."
Apologies in advance if this is a wild red herring chase but I have a vague memory of reading while Alan left Oasis. I think (think!) I remember it being discussed on his brothers Facebook channel. Maybe it was in a drum cover of a Smiths song...? Not something I'm going to find in five minutes on my phone, so sorry once again if this is complete nonsense, but someone with a laptop and more patience than me might be able to find it. If it exists.
I had a demo type cd that was from way before sotsog was officially released, I got my hands on it around the spring/summer of 1999. Don’t ask me where I got it as I’ve no idea haha but some of the songs sound different than those on the album. I think I still have it in my collection but my CDs are in storage back home. If I can get my hands on it I’ll try and fire you a copy of it.
I was gonna say that I might still have my taped off the radio version that my dad made for me, while.I was there in the audience. As I remember, he played an absolute belter.
I still have a couple of Knebworth bootlegs (those silver pressed cds that I used to collect in the 90s) that were surely sourced from the radio. I will listen to them and check if I hear any John Squire on I Am the Walrus (or if they sound any different from the tracks that are commonly available on TH-cam).
I don’t believe bonehead and Guigs were removed from the fourth album. I remember reading Noel also denied this. They wasn’t credited probably because of some bad blood going on. I definitely don’t believe Gem and Andy re-recorded the parts
Was just about to dig out my copy of the radio broadcast, in the loft somewhere 😂 I think John Squire had the Flu so might explain his chaotic playing?
The Smashing Pumpkins had an internet stream live from their infamous tragic show in Dublin in May 1996. Nothing exists from that broadcast in the fan community, but it was said to be of terrible quality, both audio and video as the internet was still in its infancy. I wonder if it was the case with the Oasis show as well? The actual film probably exists somewhere (the Pumpkins' opening act called Filter have used some footage from their set that night in a documentary, so tapes exist, indepedently from the stream). But I wouldn't expect much quality from someone's recording of the actual Oasis broadcast. Hopefully I'm wrong!
Wowl There were more versions of Alan White's departure than Rashamon! PS Controversial point but I can't be alone in thinking the Brotherly Love Tour proves Alan's brother Steve, who replaced him for those few weeks in the US on tour with the Black Crowes, was the more badass drummer of the two. All other members - Gem, Andy, Noel, Mickey Roe, were the same, only variable was the drummer, and the songs sounded MONSTERr. Just my opinion. If there's ever a reunion (which I don't see happening) I'm hoping - Steve White, Gem Archer, Noel, Liam (lol, obvs), Bonehead, Guigsy should get first refusal but let's face it a Sasquatch is more likely to join...so Andy B or just a one of Liam or Noel's' new band members...who seem reliable.
Steve White hits harder than His Brother, and He had that perfect mix of Tony McCarrolls aggressiveness with His own (And His Brothers) technical ability.
All the song lists of demos from Heathen Ghemistry and Don't Believe The Truth and all when it said they recorded over 60+ songs, enough to do double albums but never did. I know that they gave demo discs to friends around that time that had songs (some that'd be redone by Beady Eye) like: Wigwam / Evil Eye / Ballrom Figured / Longtime Servant Of The Gun / Standing On The Edge Of The Noise.....I know there were more unreleased song titles, but I have to look for it. I used to copy lists of demo discs when I saw photos and hoped they'd leak.
And I know Liam handed out a demo disc during Heathen Chemistry that had Turn Up The Sun / Evil Eye / Wigwam / Eyeball Tickler and all so those songs were around in the vaults for years.
we all hope, one day noel forgets himself for his BHN era and make peace with it. the man is unhable to listen, mix, release, play almost anything from that era.. makes me remember the years he refused to play slide away..
I havent even finished the video but i ALWAYS WONDERED WHY YOU COULDNT HEAR THE SOLO IN I AM THE WALRUS. Just before the blu ray came out i used to listen to the bootleg versions on youtube of i am the walrus and sound very different. I was going to ask on reddit why they sounded so different, now I know why.
Love to hear John Squire on IATW. Sure looks like he ripped it up, great chords to solo over, and this was him in his Jimmy Page arch from those years. Fucking love Noel’s slide leads he does on the Glasgow cat house version too, tone for days
Have you heard the song "Red Wine Supernova" by Chappell Roan? She's an emerging pop star that's getting super popular and one of her biggest songs has a nod to Oasis in the title
I hope Noel and Liam casually follow your channel. You literally gave them some good ideas for releasing more songs from their catalog, which would make them more money. It's hard to say how much work it'd take to make your proposals on the missing albums work, but it can't be that bad.
I remember Courtney Love saying her and Ed Norton went to watch Oasis play at Loch Lomond in 1996. With regards to Be Here Now. I know Noel hates 'Magic Pie', but I would love a version where you can hear Noel's solos in that song. You can really hear them in the live version. On the album version, they are hidden in the mix and almost non-existent
I don’t massively want a reunion but I agree, if it happens I want Alan on drums. I’d have Gem and Bonehead on bass too (like the morning glory SNL appearance).
I'd like to see Bonehead and Gem on guitar, Noel or Liam's bass player...besides with 3 guitars it would sound even more massive and Gem and Noel could trade off solos...also on songs like Don't Look Back in Anger Noel could play acoustic, Bonehead electric rhythm guitar, Gem on lead guitar.

I've heard tracks of Liam singing "Sad Song" and "Step Out." I wonder how many tracks like these exist in the Oasis vault?

Here's him singing "Lord Don't Slow Me Down"

Radio 1 broadcast Knebworth, I had the cassette back in the day and loved hearing Squire on it
Thanks for bringing up White's departure.
Try front teeth. Italian dentist replaced them
The thing I love about the Gmex sound is Noel uses a Dan Electo Cool Cat Chorus, I bought one and it’s amazing
What songs does he use it on???
@@LSUOdyssey almost all songs
I believe I have a bootleg recording of both Knebworth nights - Audience > DAT source for 1996-08-10, and Soundboard > FM for 1996-08-11. I'll have a compare with the official release, but if you want a copy please let me know.
Any chance I could grab a link to this please?
Alan White remains Oasis's best drummer and biggest enigma.
@@kenny75photography2 personally I preffered Tony but Alan was great
@@greg-x3z yeah Tony was great in his own way, not as accomplished but he had his own groove behind the kit, which was great for Oasis of that time.
Nah Tony suited them best
I like 'em both for different reasons. It's hard to imagine Tony on all of _Morning Glory_ or _Be Here Now_ and, likewise, hard to imagine Whitey on _Definitely Maybe._
I'll be thrilled if they hit up Alan White for the reunion, though my money's on Chris Sharrock.
Guigs tho
I’ve got a couple for you James. 1) I can never pick out Weller’s backing vocals on Champagne Supernova. Do you have the ability to isolate it?
2) What the heck is Liam shouting at the start of Colombia??
I've often wondered about the start of columbia.....I think the same about blur and trimm trabb too
I think I have heard the Weller backing vocals, I think you need to listen to the isolated channels from the SACD morning glory and you can hear them on there. I think they’re on the outro - pretty sure he sings a high falsetto part
no idea on Columbia!
Regarding Columbia, it's not Liam. It's from a film or TV show or maybe even a famous speech. Can't remember the details but I heard it years ago. It definitely ain't Liam, though
Pretty sure the weller backing vocal is just one line of him going "oooo".
Brilliant as always james!, also, i loved your video about the verve, you really should make another one about them
I recently Supersonic again but on IMAX. Maybe 7 people in the entire theater 😂. Sad. But it was great to watch again and on a massive screen. Hope there’s another project coming for be here now era
Gem and Andy aren't on SOTSOG, though. It's not like they replaced Guigsy and Bonehead, Noel and the producer handled all the parts.
Ahhhh you’re right. I knew that as well. Ha.
Got mixed up there. oh well
Exactly they were payed just for playing live at the time
It was Noel and Paul Stacey to be precise, but yeah Familiar to Millions was their first release with Gem and Andy.
Yeah for what I recall Noel re recorded their parts on Sotsog. They left in August and at that time they were about to mix the album. There wouldn't be enough time to find new band members and have them to record the parts and then mix the album in December.
i heard tony mccarol played bass on standing o ntje shoulder of giants
Cheers James. - I wasn’t aware of so some of these lost albums. Excited!
Agree James that GMex gig is epic. Defo need this mastered. And them lost albums sounds unreal. Need that BHN rethink and that Vegas DBTT. I love SOTSOGs too so would love to hear that lost album. Most underrated album in my opinion (mainly by Noel lol).
the biggest mystery is why did Noel hear Liam sing Step Out an think "nah I think I'll do this one" .... release the Liam version. NOW PLS.
It's all in the key man , could defo see Liam struggling with YOU MIGHT live.
James, I have a version of Knebworth gig with John Squire on it, his audio is very clear.
Was at Loch Lomond (Sunday) best day out I've ever had. Ended up in pit at front. Unforgettable.
Small error at 5:30; the rhythm guitar and bass parts on SOTSOG were not re-recorded by Gem & Andy. All lead, rhythm and bass were played by Noel on the album.
The 2000s albums need reissues, history sees them as lesser yet great music was made for each era and album.
Apparently, the first ever gig to be properly live streamed was The Who. I think they were playing in a huge hotel basement in Vegas.
(Was it called The Vegas Job?)
Anyways, apparently the stream was worldwide but it had lots of technical issues. This is the first time I've heard of the Balloch Castle, Loch Lomond gig being streamed.
I was there mate loved it
Loch Lomond what a blast x
The Masterpland should have been at least a double album.
agreed. Stay Young could've been a single. also I Got The Fever is one is their best tracks
@@CS-mo7xp Flashbax! Listen up, it’s good to be free, headshrinker…
@@Hayden1969-ws4vy The exceptionally great B-sides are part of the band's legacy, tho. I'd leave their '90s discography as it is.
On the knebworth recordings you can hear bits of johns squires parts bleed thru some of the other mics, if you listen closely
th-cam.com/video/2IxfduhBjeg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8HcNR5utfRmmS9CO
You can hear him fine on the old ones. Weird they have removed it from the new release
And was there a demo of Columbia and what version of Columbia for the demo part of supersonic demo and where is the Columbia demo came from?
Always loved these videos 👍🎶
you make some interesting points.....Another mystery is what happened to finsbury park 2002 footage ? all 3 nights filmed......Also Garden Hall,Tokyo,Japan (26/08/1995) filmed by Japan TV crew more effort needs to be done to track down this epic footage !
I have a bootleg VHS of Knebworth, bought about ‘98. Probably just foh feed, will dig out and check if can hear John Squire.
I am very excited about the SOTSOG and BHN lost albums you refer to the most
On the 25th anniversary teaser for Be Here Now a couple years ago, there is pretty clean looking footage from G-Mex (only a small part of the walk into the stage) and a bit of what I believe is the 2nd night at Earls Court, so it's very likely that all 3 nights were fully recorded and filmed. I wish they'd just release all of them lol.
i love the "There and Then" footage but wish they'd included the whole of both gigs. Whatever at Maine Rd is hilarious when they fall out over the vocals
@@TheGalwayFarmer The harmonica player flipping off Liam is so good lol
Man I love how James is too concerned about copyright (I assume) to put one second of Oasis music in any one of his videos but he's just so great at doing it that none of us will ever care about that
Considering how many shows they played, why were some of their songs never played live? In particular Hey Now, She’s Electric (with Liam singing) and Underneath The Sky?
Firing Alan was the real end of Oasis to me. What makes it worse was no 100% motivated/fully involved replacement. Lost "album" to me could be the Unplugged gig.
Zak Starkey didn't suit Oasis at all, I he's Ringo's boy but he wasn't good in Oasis
In Slide Away, why does Liam now sing “We BOTH know what to do”
Instead of, like on the album version “We DONT know what to do”?? He changed the lyric around 99-00 time and it’s still baffling me now. Loads of the crowd sing the wrong line too…
I’ve got the Knebworth gig on tape with John Squire on guitar you can definitely here John
Was there any demos of oasis like live forever is a demo from 1992 but where was it recorded?
Why isn't Alan on the SOTSOG liner notes? His name doesn't appear in the entire album booklet.
It was talked about, I seem to remember it was referring to the Union Jack and may have got scrapped in case it got “adopted by skinheads” which seems unlikely as that movement more related to the eighties
believed to be I Hope I Think I Know 👍
Hey James, do you know Dino Valente with his song Children of the Sun similar to Oasis Masterplan?
I think that there is a CD of the Radio One broadcast of the Knebworth show. Not the current version that came out a couple of years ago.
First hear. Love your content James and love Oasis on my life specsavers 14 in 1994
When Noel was asked about why Alan White left, he mentioned that there was a big argument between Liam and Alan, he wasn’t sure what it was about or what happened
Death in Vegas sounds great in Scorpio Rising with Liam.
Would love to hear the Death In Vegas stuff. I remember being very disappointed at the time when I heard it was not happening/ coming out.
What was noel singing originally before "so Sally can wait" and who is angel child? Also, what does he mean when he sings d'ya know what I mean ?
I've had a few homemade Cointreaus, so maybe this is a Mandela Effect, but I do remember an interview with Noel where he was asked why Alan White was fired, and he replied (paraphrased): "I like Alan a lot... but his personal life is an absolute mess." And that was that.
All I could find on it was a retyped quote from an interview in the Big Issue in 2005:
Then, to cap it all, drummer Alan White became the band's latest line-up casualty. Noel won't explain why, simply saying: "He's a f**king great guy and he's one of the best drummers I've ever met in my life, but his personal life is utter f**king chaos. In the end, he f**ked off and we haven't seen him since."
Interesting.
Noel rerecorded the parts himself
@@willhissettmusic that’s rumour.
@@Dave79-be7ld Noel had to re-record their parts for legal reasons.
Was just about to dig out my copy of the radio broadcast, in the loft somewhere 😂
I think John Squire had the Flu so might explain his chaotic playing?
The monnow valley version is fantastic. Alternate aka alternative version is the same it means different lyrics. I strongly agreed 👍 💯 with you Jeff.
What about the lost album of High Flying Birds songs but as Oasis with Liam on vocals? I know several of those songs existed before the band broke up.
I've never understood the dislike of I can see a liar.
Have you heard the song "Red Wine Supernova" by Chappell Roan? She's an emerging pop star that's getting super popular and one of her biggest songs has a nod to Oasis in the title
i wish they would release the gmex gig cleaned up on dvd
I hope Noel and Liam casually follow your channel. You literally gave them some good ideas for releasing more songs from their catalog, which would make them more money. It's hard to say how much work it'd take to make your proposals on the missing albums work, but it can't be that bad.
Hi James. I have the full Knebworth 1996 gig on mp3 if you still need it?
Amazing! What did you mean by taking an orchestra on be here now and transferring that to a guitar speaker.
Faaarrrk! I have that original broadcast of knebworth on tape somewhere! Ill see if ican find it. Hopeful it has IATW on it 🤞
I may still have a cassette of the live radio broadcast. If I can find it I can send it?
Would love to hear 90s sounding version of SOTSOG
I don’t massively want a reunion but I agree, if it happens I want Alan on drums. I’d have Gem and Bonehead on bass too (like the morning glory SNL appearance).
I'd like to see Bonehead and Gem on guitar, Noel or Liam's bass player...besides with 3 guitars it would sound even more massive and Gem and Noel could trade off solos...also on songs like Don't Look Back in Anger Noel could play acoustic, Bonehead electric rhythm guitar, Gem on lead guitar.
