The problem in England is that players who don’t run around like headless chickens get called lazy. Berbatov didn’t need to run around because he was a quality player with a great footballing brain and the technical ability to match
yes, in their Physicaly most demanding most competitive league, but when EPL clubs come to EU competitions, their competitivnes and toughness suddenly disappears
If you scored a hat-trick you get to bring the match ball home with you. Legend has it when berba scored 5, he took home the ball and all four corner flags
And he almost scored his 6th. What a player. You hardly see him accelerate, but he was everywhere. Own half, left, right, forward...the number of touches show how active he is in a game. We don't see footballers like this anymore. Zirkzee hardly get a touch for 90 minutes in today's style of play. This shows that if you have good, active runners, like Rooney or Berbatov, even the likes of Anderson can successfully make forward passes constantly
@@Johndoe-gf7euFunny how Berba won the PL Golden Boot being on the bench. It was SAF's fault he didn't use him more. Berba could score 30-40 per season. Especially funny was when SAF left his top goalscorer - Berba, out of the CL final squad. The moment I saw Owen in the team instead of Berba I knew Barca will win with ease.
Berbatov was a pleasure to watch when he wanted to play. Extremely talented and underestimated. In UK football to succeed you should run 90 min. Not always suitable for a really cleaver player.
This is the game where Sir Alex saw Phil Jones, even losing the game, he was still able to impress the boss. Manager saw some talent in him, and he played well under him.
Berbatov's playstyle was lowkey ahead of its time. Somewhere between a false 9 with great touch along with his vision, and a true goal poacher who's ready to strike at moment's notice. He might be comparable to Benzema, but his playstyle was more elegant.
Lol you compared him to a better player so for all the world it looks like when you say "but" you're going to say something like "but...obviously not quite at that level nor anywhere near as consistent nor anywhere near as much of a big game player as Benzema"...but no after the "but" you say something which indicates that you think Berbaflop is better than Benzema. Typical delusional Berba fans.
Stellar from Berba but what makes me more impressed is how Rooney celebrated each and every goal like it was his own even though he didn't get on the scoresheet..Too much selfishness thesedays
@imamoronand9199 No you just don't like Rooney for some reason. You're not a proper ManUtd fan if you don't like Rooney (you're not actually a knowledgeable ManUtd fan if you like Berbaflop). Berba fans don't like admittng how much Berba relied on Rooney. Even the season earlier when Rooney was on fire until his injury, not only did Rooney's goals stop after the injury that season but Berba's lame tally (which was about the same amount as ManUtd scored via own goals that season) didn't extend either.
Let's see his qualities from this video: Good in the air, great first touch, great tiki taka passing ability (one touch football), good dribbling ability, good link up play, great finisher. Bro is Messi but traded speed for aerial ability.
Lets not forget he was top goalscorer in the league...and Fergie for some reason thought to left him out of the ucl final squad...not that they would have win against barcelona easy...but the nani ,rooney, berbatov was insane the whole season...and he put valencia,rooney,owen...fergie probably regretted it after
Alex Ferguson was treating him like shit. That was the problem. At Tottenham, Martin Jol had built the attack around him and Berba was scoring left and right. Alex Ferguson had his priorities with Rooney, Ronaldo and that headless chicken Tevez. Berbatov was always his second choice.
@@drnick40I do remember a video when Ferguson was laughing at a sullen Berbatov who was sitting a couple rows below him. By then he had lost respect for Berba, which was to the detriment of the team. That was either in the same season as this match, or the following season when Berba was spending less time playing.
Not really, you could see the decline beginning after 2009, Ferguson worked wonders to keep the team competitive. By 2011, most of the squad was either aging or just average. Players like Berbatov (already 30), Chicharito (a fantastic sub but not really starter material), and Nani were carrying the load. Rooney was still good but clearly not the same force he once was. Then in 2013, it was basically Robin van Persie, at 30, single-handedly winning the league. United were relying on a few world-class players who were nearing or past their peak, and as a fan, I could see that the team’s future beyond a few years looked bleak.
Bro, Berbatov is way more technically gifted. The only reason his career didn't last as long was because he lost interest in football after winning everything.

What a unique no9. He had so much class and style in his play. And the first touch was magical. Wish we got to see him more.
OG false 9.
I can proudly say i watched this match live. I witnessed Berbatov magic that day❤
The beautiful part is he comes back to defend … you see him in midfield he links up and still pops up in the box …. Beautiful display
Rooney and Berbatov was deadly duo. 😢😢😢😢😢 Amazing players perfect era
One of the most technically gifted and elegantly playing players for United. Ever!
One of the greatest to ever play the game.
