Wayne was in the form of his life during this period. I remember he had scored 6 or 7 consecutive headed goals. United’s season ended a month later when Rooney got injured vs Bayern and United got knocked out. Few days later Chelsea beat United at OT and that was it in the PL as well. Highly competitive season for United though.
He'd only scored something like 8 headers in his whole career before then, and must have doubled that number on crosses from Antonio Valencia alone that season! :D I remember it took him a while to settle into that lone striker role early in the season, but once he got used to it he was an absolute beast! It's bizarre that he came back from the injury that ended the season playing like garbage, before reinventing himself as a number 10 and playing almost as great in a completely different way in 2011. If only he'd had a bit more discipline(and no drinking problem) he could have been one of the greatest.

Wayne was in the form of his life during this period. I remember he had scored 6 or 7 consecutive headed goals. United’s season ended a month later when Rooney got injured vs Bayern and United got knocked out. Few days later Chelsea beat United at OT and that was it in the PL as well. Highly competitive season for United though.
He'd only scored something like 8 headers in his whole career before then, and must have doubled that number on crosses from Antonio Valencia alone that season! :D
I remember it took him a while to settle into that lone striker role early in the season, but once he got used to it he was an absolute beast! It's bizarre that he came back from the injury that ended the season playing like garbage, before reinventing himself as a number 10 and playing almost as great in a completely different way in 2011. If only he'd had a bit more discipline(and no drinking problem) he could have been one of the greatest.

Manchester United used to be a monster team which everyone uses to hate and fear to play against and for the last 10 years they've turned into a shadow of what they used to be. This game was a big example of how good Manchester United were. Look at that AC MILAN team with absolute world class players and when they stepped into Old Trafford Manchester United destroyed them like it was nothing. It's a really sad sight to see how far Manchester United has fallen.
