True, ac lights go bad, soldier fixes it, has held up since. After 20 years of shops raising the car and transport, you’ll have more than just a few scrapes on the fiberglass underneath. But that’s a cosmetic issue at best.
Great vid!! My A/C screen went dim on me and considered replacing the whole unit until I saw a video on how to fix it. The back of the unit has multiple contacts and the factory soldering joints became lose. Took it to an electronics repair shop and they made it look bright and beautiful for about 30 bucks.
You absolutely need to check the harmonic balancer for wobbling, which is a common problem on these cars as they age. Wobbling is the precursor to it separating which will leave you stranded and may do other damage. Owners typically pay 600.00 - 1000.00 to have it replaced and if the car has this problem I'd knock that off my offer for sure.
Solid video, id also add that if the weatherstripping, particularly around the driver/passenger windows, is bad, its discontinued by GM so its hard to get your hands on decent replacements.
Also, find out from the PO if the ignition lock bypass has been done? This is a critical "can't drive" concern. Mine had the factory warranty bypass, but it failed this year (2021) and while the part is affordable ($50.00 for both pieces/kit), it can disable your car, wherever and wherever it happens! Mine happened in my garage...I was very lucky. Another is the Seat "rocking" issue, another easy fix and but not disabling. And all LS engines at about 60k miles need the Harmonic Blanancer replaced, about $550.00 in 2020 $. Another is the AC vent "door" actuators causing one of both sides to not blow cold air. Somewhat affordable, but the Dash has to be removed if the right side unit fails. (Also, note these have different P/N depending if you have automatic or manual temperature control). I spent almost $800.00 (automatic control) for both to be repaired, and change the emergency Flasher at the same time with the dash off. And possibly the main concern to check for is battery acid corrosion under the battery mounting causing a number of problems...by a sealed AGM type battery as a first precaution! The same thing for the "udders" on the L and R sides in the engine room at the firewall...easy check and fix, but can cause serious problems if left unattended! BTW, I love my C5 Convertable and FRC!
I recently had the ck. engine light come on on my '02 with some backfiring and engine misses. I did not know how to access the codes, but my mechanic did. A cracked spark plug in #6 cylinder was the problem..No idea how it cracked. And, I have a deep apron on my driveway, so I put those skid plate wheels on my undercarriage to lift the front end, and it's been fine for years. PS: don't forget to get a set of lift chocks for when the car is jacked up..Without the chocks you might crack the rocker panels.

I believe with the 0-10 MPH lighting on the gauges all C5's are dimmer in the middle.
