Hi Andrea! I always look forward to your vlogs and seeing what you make and have made. I can not relate to your experience as a pattern designer, but I can relate to the feeling of doing more than is requested up to the point of burnout. I hope you can find ways and strategies to make sure you have balance and good health in your life as a designer. Even though a person can be aware of a "problem" it takes time to find the solutions/s for it. I am confident you are doing your best, and no one should ask for more. Regarding the lack of interest in your garment designs I can only speak for myself, but I think it's a possibility that others may feel something similar. I LOVE your shawl designs, and one aspect of leaning towards making shawls is that I do not have to think about fit and size and shape in the same way as I have to for a garment. Even though the tops and dresses you have designed are gorgeous, I feel garments that are "supposed to" be form fitting or just fit in a certain way to be too much of a project to take on. With shawls: as long as I follow the pattern I will create something that can fit almost anyone with any kind of body. I think your idea of mixing big, complicated, intricate designs with smaller designs is a good idea. Parts of your designs, for example the bee, could be made into a pattern just on it's own, and the shawl incorporating the bee could be a separate pattern. I am not in any way saying that this is my idea, nor that you _should_ do it. I just want to share my thoughts as a fellow crafter and a fan of you. Thank you for all the things that you make and share with us all. 🌻
Very well said, and I agree with everything you wrote to Andrea. Big fan, I greatly admire all of her designs, and I don’t feel confident enough to make a fitted garment - yet. Andrea please take care of yourself and do what you love!!
That makes a lot of sense, thank you for that perspective! You are not alone in thinking this, as we can read from others in the comments. I design garments with specific fit points because that's what I like to wear due to sensory issues from other types of garments, but I might go for more basic construction with interesting details in the fabric in the future, if that's what gives other makers confidence in trying out garment making. I'll think about this. And yes, the bees, I thought about incorporating those in other designs as well, maybe even the "mechanical" looking bee with regular mosaic. But first I must make one in regular crochet as well, maybe in the round so no ends. There's so much to explore there.
Oh my goodness you have been making such gorgeous things and even painting! I look forward to your videos each month. I gifted the Sempervivum shawl to my grandmother and she absolutely loved it! She even modeled it for me. I just finished Arunima's Maya cardigan in time for fall weather and I love it! I just purchased your Mulberry top and dress pattern. I intend to make the top and maybe wear a cardigan over it this fall. I love how it drapes and flows. Thank you for your beautiful designs! I'm glad that you are resting a bit. Please take care of you!!
Yay, I'm so glad she likes it! If you make the Mulberry top for the colder weather, maybe go for the non-lacy option on both sides and make the straps thicker. For future designs I'll make the straps thicker to begin with.
Your shawls and capelets are stunning. I love the colours of the bee shawl, and the leaf cowl has a lovely drape. 😍 As I watch today, I’m working on the Foggy Shores Pullover by Evelyn&Peter (I wanted a cosy casual jumper for winter) Hope you feel better soon - be gentle with yourself 😊
Your lacy shawl is gorgeous, wonderful along with your other makes ❣️ I’m not successful with making garments for myself, only hexagon cardigans and I enjoy crochet shawls. Thanks for sharing 🤩
Thanks so much! What's keeping you back from making more types of garments? The hexies are comfortable? I made one years ago and rarely wear it because it's acrylic and the sleeves are super wide. I might add a cuff at the wrist to tame that, but even so, balloon sleeves are not my favorite.
@@YarnAndy with hexagon cardigans I decrease the sleeves so it’s straight and not ballooned and sizing is easier for me. With other top patterns, it’s hard for me to make tops because I’m so pear shaped but I attempt once in awhile.
The knit capelet is gorgeous!! The bees shawl is perfect! I hope to have the skills to do garments this winter. I think making and sharing what you like is a smart move. You don’t need burnout.
When you put on the Frosty Capelet and spread your arms, I wanted to sing: 'Let it go...!' Ultimate Frozen vibes there! In white, it would also be perfect for a bride. BTW The bee shawl is a true show stopper. Never seen anything like it!
I’m knitting on the Yume Tee by Isabel Kraemer. The new design looks great. The cowl is beautiful! The cape you have on looks so comfy. Amazing blue shawl!! Relax, rest and do what you enjoy!!
Ooh, that sounds precious. I would not be able to exist in an air conditioned space, I'm cold enough as it is indoors. I hope it keeps you nice and warm when it's finished.
Thank for your video! I would love to crochet the 🐝 shawl but I haven’t learned tunisian crochet yet: I would love a mosaic crochet version! I purchased your blueberry popsicle shawl pattern this morning, I look forward to begin!

I love that chevron cowl (bacon pattern)
I didn't see a tutorial but I'd love to make it.
That capelet is gorgeous. I'm a big tan of your designs.
Thanks! I'm going to make a tutorial for the wavy stitch pattern, it's super easy. Just have to sit down and do it 😅

Thanks, Marina! I try. I hope you'll find the confidence to try making things that fit; we can only learn from our experience if we try things.

Thank you! You gain the skills by trying, as long as you are motivated.
@@YarnAndy I am getting there. Making my first garments ever right now. I have items in a queue for the next year, each one a little harder.

Ooh, that's a nice visual! Hm, let's see if I have any light blue dresses around, might make a fun photo shoot 😁

That looks like such a pretty t-shirt! Are you making it in a summer yarn?
@@YarnAndy Yes, it’s a light sport weight wool, silk, bamboo blend but I’m making long sleeves since I’m usually cold in the air-conditioning.

I was going to make a regular crochet version of the motif, to see how it works. A crochet version of the shawl would be fun too.
Buen día como conseguir el tutorial del chal gris q modelas en el minuto 14 me encanta esta hermosa mil gracias
