Hi Ria, What a wonderful job you are doing. I had to smile about the towel (Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy, anyone?). I'm sure they are in very capable hands.
Why not make an owl hand puppet that actually has the beak open and close, to be more convincing of the illusion of the owlets being fed by another owl
Hello, Tawny Owls begin to leave the nest before they are able to fly when they are still quite young - this is called branching. The parents will continue to feed them as they venture further out. Once they fledge, they instinctively know how to hunt, however they stay near the nest and call to the parents for food for a few weeks after they have learned to fly. The parents will eventually shoo them away to find their own territories. Hope that helps 🙂
@@HawkConservancyTrust Sorry i meant captive reared ones like the ones you have 😅 Your video showed us the process of feeding the owlets with dead meat and then being put into the outside avery with a hatch in the wall for feeding - do live mice get dropped in the hatch to get them to start hunting before they are released??
Thank you for caring so much for these special owls
They are so cute!

My home has been surrounded by Tawny Owlets for the last few weeks calling out to each other every night.

How do they go from eating dead prey to live prey??
