- There are five main types of owls found in the UK. The Tawny Owl is one of the most iconic, and can be found nesting in ancient woodland across the islands. As the Tawny chicks get older they must venture from the relative safety of the nest, but there are many dangers that await!

It's really sad that those cute owls are the symbol of death in my country. People try to kill them because they see the existence of owls bring only bad luck, and death. But they don't know the fact that owls help reduce rodent problems.

It's unclear how the etymology developed but night owls, (being nocturnal) blunder about during the day despite having huge eyes. To be called an owl-chick means you're an even bigger moron.

@@loveworksnoevil Yeah but its the vow of the filmmakers to never interfere with nature if they can help it, predators need to eat and young animals need to learn from experience, all that as well as keeping animals weary of humans alongside other predators as they naturally should.

Learning the first steps to a self-dependent life is a fascinating moment in the life of a bird.
Had to raise one of these muppets, because someone brought it to me and deemed it "abandoned" I explained they are not abandoned, but they hop out of their nest ti train flight..but theu did not remember where they found the lil' owlet. I swear they are so cute so beautiful and so messy along with reckless
Such wonderful, sensitively-made footage of these incredible iconic birds, it is not often that the fledgling owls are filmed, together with the many threats that they face on their journey towards adulthood
Not that sensitively filmed, they set up like three different shots driving a tractor at the little guy, then threw a bunch of grass on his head

@@fearghal10 Well to the unitiated (meaning me!) in the slicing and splicing of footage it looked good - until you pointed that out - obviously it was made to look as though the little one had survived the blades of the tractor. Nevertheless it does show the importance of having margins of land on the edges of cultivated fields, where wildlife can have a chance to survive and thrive, despite such devastating hazards. And to stop the ubiquitous use of glyphosphates which is so toxic to the land, the air, all wildlife and of course, all of us humans.
