  • the dolomite application for tea is one of critical agronomic practice, its help to maintain proper pH level in soil, the pH level help to maintain availability of nutrients in the soil. for tea pH level should be between 4.5 to 5.5.
    what is soil pH is
Soil pH is a measure of the acidity or basicity of a soil. Soil pH is a key characteristic that can be used to make informative analysis both qualitative and quantitatively regarding soil characteristics. pH is defined as the negative logarithm of the activity of hydronium ions in a solution.

    what mean by soil pH..?
Soil pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. A pH value is actually a measure of hydrogen ion concentration. Because hydrogen ion concentration varies over a wide range, a logarithmic scale (pH) is used: for a pH decrease of 1, the acidity increases by a factor of 10.
what is soil pH and Why its important
Any pH reading below 7 is acidic and any pH above 7 is alkaline. A pH of 7 indicates a neutral soil. The pH is important because it influences the availability of essential nutrients. Most horticultural crops will grow satisfactorily in soils having a pH between 6 (slightly acid) and 7.5 (slightly alkaline).
in Sri Lanka, origin place of dolomite is around Kandy, Matale, Kundasale, digana, badulla and balangoda. important of this origin is magnesium precentage should be around 18%. this precentage can be vary. therefore, we should always concern about this otherwise, we will add too much content of CaO for soil. it will create calcium high soil.
What is soil pH in agriculture?
Though soil pH generally ranges from 1 to 14, the optimum range for most agricultural crops is between 5.5 and 7.5. However, some crops have adapted to thrive at soil pH values outside this optimum range.
therefore, farmers should be put high attention on soil pH, this is chemical factor of the soil.
tea research institute of srilnaka is always concerning this factor and they are helping farmer to check soil testing and encourage dolomite application for tea fields. even private companies like A Baur and Co.(Pvt.) Ltd also given this service to tea small holder to check soil pH and encourage dolomite application for tea fields.
The abbreviation pH stands for potential hydrogen, and it tells us how much hydrogen is in liquids-and how active the hydrogen ion is.
Dolomite is an anhydrous carbonate mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate, ideally CaMg(CO₃)₂. The term is also used for a sedimentary carbonate rock composed mostly of the mineral dolomite. An alternative name sometimes used for the dolomitic rock type is dolostone.
    What is dolomite used for?
Dolomite is used as a source of magnesium metal and of magnesia (MgO), which is a constituent of refractory bricks. Dolostone is often used instead of limestone as an aggregate for both cement and bitumen mixes and also as a flux in blast furnaces.
Dolomite contains varying levels of crystalline silica, which can cause damage to lungs or even cancer when it is breathed in. The material can also cause irritation to the skin and eyes.
peoples or tea farmers are thinking about that there dolomite have some pesticide effect and they apply directly to the plants. but it will create bad impact on photo-synthesis of tea leaf.
should not apply too much amount of dolomite to soil, it will help to increase deficiency of Mn and K. so farmer should discourage apply too much quantity of dolomite to tea fields.
Is dolomite a rock or mineral?
Dolomite is an anhydrous carbonate mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate, ideally CaMg(CO3)2. The term is also used for a sedimentary carbonate rock composed mostly of the mineral dolomite. An alternative name sometimes used for the dolomitic rock type is dolostone. Dolomite is an unusual carbonate mineral.
Dolomite is added to growing medium to raise pH to the range of 5.5 to 6.5 and to supply plants with calcium and magnesium needed for healthy growth.
Ceylon tea is both the brand of tea which is produced in Sri Lanka and a historic term describing tea from that land. Ceylon tea has been described as not only a geographical descriptor but also a pillar of Sri Lankan culture, heritage and identity.
Is Ceylon tea the same as black tea?
    Image result for ceylon tea
Ceylon tea is mostly a black type of tea, but other teas such as green, white and oolong, as long as they are produced in Sri Lanka are Ceylon teas too. When compared to some other important black teas from other countries, Ceylon black tea is likely to be more floral, brisker and even fresher.
What are the side effects of Ceylon tea?
    Image result
The side effects of Ceylon tea are similar to most teas - especially similar to green tea. The caffeine in the tea may make your anxiety worse or even cause irregular heartbeat. The caffeine in the tea may also cause diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome in individuals with digestive issues.
therefore, we should encourage test soil pH
