Forgotten Land is the epitome of, "You don't need to reinvent the wheel, you just need to make a really good wheel."
But Wheel isn't even in the game
I really wish fans wouldn't try rushing devs into making games they're clearly not ready for. Anyone who thought Forgotten Land would be an open world Odyssey style game must to have not been paying attention during its reveal. Maybe in the future we'll get a bigger game, but for its first jump into 3D, Forgotten Land was damn good. I'd say on the level of when Mario 64 was released.
to be fair with Forgotten Land's lack of story, this might just be them easing players into the new 3D direction before amping things up
Also, they were trying to address the criticism that you had to pause the game to access the lore.
Yeah, the story isn't given to the player until the end once they tease you with a bit in the beginning.
And through figurines, which finally gave me the rest of the story.
Needle is such an interesting ability in Forgotten Land. It only does one thing, but that one thing is so versatile. It does damage, can be used for mobility, and is one of two copy abilities to have a move that can pick up and throw stars. It’s probably my favorite ability in the game, something I never thought I’d say in Kirby at all.

My hope for future 3D Kirby is that they figure out how to give abilities a lot of moves in 3D and keep Witch Time so that Kirby becomes Nintendo's Devil May Cry.
They already know how to do that...
While it seems redundant to make the Y button also get rid of abilities, if they do away with that, then they can use the Y button for extra attacks like for Kirby Battle Royale.

I didn't even know Ms. Pac-Man was not owned by Namco. I totally agree with Ryan in that a new Pac-Man World 4 would be amazing! I only played the first two Pac-Man World games and they were fun (but somewhat frustrating). Though, good luck getting 100% in those games!
They need to re-release the Pac-Man World trilogy on the Switch! Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness was pretty fun, too, but not nearly as fun as the Pac-Man World games.
I like to think the movie Snowpiercer takes place on Shiver Star, meaning the last humans are not only on train roaming the world, but they also have to contend with giant mutant animals, an amputated version of Wing Gundam, and now Kirby.
Iirc, a developer interview for forgotten land had someone on the team said that they wanted to portray a relatively "peaceful" post-civilization land, focusing on how nature naturally integrates back in instead of emphasizing ruin and HUBRIS so I kinda get why they don't make a big deal out of the world itself plus there's a big spoiler implication for why the civilization leaving wasn't that bad for said civilization (Casual dropping of forgotten land spoilers ahead)
Also on that note, even though the implication Is that forgotten land's civilization was the halcandran ancients, I REALLY wanna feel like some of them did stuff on shiver star so that hr-h gets more importance than a similar name
The total "oh no" as bsc discovers Ms PAC man is owned by a plug and play company is perfect. (Also it's a generally wild series cause outside the og Pac-Man, almost every early game was pretty much made just for Japan or America and an American company making their own games for a Japanese series in that era made things VERY fucky wucky)

Until Redgar Forbidden Land, which gives me so many Sonic 06 vibes that I had to play the music for Crisis City and Flame Core for those levels (and the Forgo Dream variant). They fit so damn well.

Ryan is on point, Kirby Forgotten Land being 3D is purely incidental and not really an amazing gameplay shift. Then again it's Kirby so like, you can't really expect too much considering how simple the series is. Looking forward to the play through!
I mean I held the analog to other ways too than just right 80% of the game, so I would say that was quite a big change for the series...
It's much closer to Super Mario 3d World than say Odyssey or Breath Of The Wild. Which is a good thing. We didn't need a full blown open world like the latter.
@@spartanq7781 Seems like everyone expects a 3D platformer to be on the same level as Odyssey and BOTW these days, and they don't all have to be. Some of them can still be their own small and contained things as there's still plenty of room for exploration. And I thought Forgotten Land was a nice and cozy experience from the whole "OMG open-world" phenomenon.

This is why I used to _collect_ cards and *not* play the game tied to the cards. When someone tried to explain the rules of Duel Monsters & The Pokémon Card Game, all I could say was “Good thing I got a Gameboy Color!”.
I have played Yugioh a few times. It is entertaining but I also am pretty much a card collector.

I considered, jumping into Master Duel; I forget what has motivating me, probably I was between games, but I remembered I still had *GX* for the DS. *Spirit Caller* was a fun game for Yu-Gi-Oh! 2006, but it was slow; I mean there are builds that let you search & special summon, but old school was all about beat sticks and field clearing.

I wanted to get in to yu-gi-oh with my brother when I was young. But in a surprisingly forward thinking move, we had a homebrew rule that we just ignore all monster card effects, and only other types of cards effects actually mattered. Taking out half the fun, but it made the game a lot of fun for my barely literate brain.
While Kirby in 3D is not really that different from Kirby in 2D, I do have more of an appreciation for the puzzles that they put in these games. I really liked the shape puzzles with the different mouthful modes and one bonus room is basically a Super Mario Galaxy bonus. Yugioh Abridged made a joke about the games abbreivating words to save space on the cards when the abridged series was still going.
It's still going. LittleKuriboh just uploads episodes at a slow pace because of how much work that involves.
Lewis isn't modern yugioh, if he was his raigeki and all his removal cards would have been negated by the opponent's three omni negates. Sounds like he is back in the pendulum era which is funny because pendulums were nerfed when link monsters came around, but I guess that's how it is on the best of one master duel ladder.
Original to 5Ds superior! Synchro > Pendulum and whatever came after Zexal.
Like, Modern Yugioh has a lot of Solitaire decks as they describe them, but Pendulums are not the ones I imagine they play with since the post-Link era nerfs (on top of Link, XYZ, and Synchro spams just seeming easier). And the game actually has a lot of Keywords/Problem-Solving Card Text the issue is just the interactions get so specific that this is what the card effects read like WITH those (timing shenanigans come to mind for one case)
Also this is probably a slip of the tongue, but he mentions they summon a Boss Monster that "can't be destroyed by Battle or Card Effect" which he proceeds to "destroy" with Raigeki. I'm going to assume the monsters in question were targetting immune instead of destruction immune since I don't think Lewis would talk out of his ass just to dunk on Yugioh. Or maybe he would, I don't know him that well.

I get that Planet Robobot is an excellent introduction into the series but I tried the demo and didn't like it. But Forgotten Land got me interested in the rest of the series, like how Metroid Dread made me a Metroid fan.

Pac-Man World 4 was actually being developed, but was cancelled. My guess as for why they didn't release was due to poor sales of World 2 in Japan, which is why World 3 never released there.
So don't release it in Japan. If a game sells well in a certain market, release the next game in that market.

The first part of lore inserted into the series
You can tell Lewis is actually getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh!, because he's associating certain things the physical card game has done for years as things Master Duel specifically is doing. GY and LP have been foreshortenings they've used for a couple years, as well as certain keywords like "Piercing (Trample)," "Banish (Exile)," and "Excavate (Scry)" becoming standard practice. It's not a lot, but they've tried to make effects smaller. If you go back and look at older cards that had huge text boxes, they've shrunk the amount of needed words considerably in some cases.
Also, who is Lewis playing that's using Pendulums?
Yu-Gi-Oh! is definitely a game that I would NOT recommend getting into through something like Master Duel. It's very much a "play casually with chill friends" game. Meta Yu-Gi-Oh! is not fun; you just play to win, and there's no point to winning because it doesn't have prize pools like Magic or other games do.

Master Duel's in-game tutorials are also god-awful for actually TEACHING you how to play.

Yugioh is more fun when you play it casually, but Konami just doesn’t support casual play these days.
Yugioh has keywords, but like two. They’ve changed it to GY since the Link era.
I don’t blame people for getting frustrated with playing Master Duel, but that’s more so the competitive players and not the actual cards that make it so unfun to play. Unfortunately the solo mode is so empty. The only real plus to Master Duel is that is free to play, so I feel less obligated to waste hours of my time trying to get as much done and can just pop in, play 3 solo duels and maybe a ranked duel and collect my rewards for the day in about an hour. Two if I get interrupted by things.

20:45 The GBA Yu-Gi-Oh games were special, Worldwide Edition is a game I still boot up on my GBA Micro sometimes, exploiting the AI's unga bunga nature with a mill deck.
Also the music is fantastic despite being mostly reused from Eternal Duelist Soul. There's also Dungeon Dice Monsters, which is also a fun game with its own bizarre AI exploits (mainly involving chests)
I find the GBA games had special rules, where TYPE-advantages over ruled the laid-out card rules, Dice monsters was fun for a different gameplay, Dark Magician Girl is still a dice I can't get

honestly the story overall in kirby games have been pretty bare until the end and forgotten land seemed no different to me which the developers of kirby stated that it was intentional for the plot to be that way the story starts off pure and simple then evolves into a huge crisis as your nearing the end for example triple deluxe it starts off with dedede being kidnapped then ends with kirby overthrowing a dictator queen who's bent on world domination. Planet robobot starts off with kirby fighting alien invaders then ends with him stopping a supercomputer bent on eradicating all organic life in the universe
I'm mainly in the same boat with Ryan about the structure of Forgotten Land. Other than fully moving around in 3D the gameplay, aesthetics, and scope didn't really feel any different than playing something such as Super Mario 3D World. For the City Trial mode in Kirby Air Ride moving around without your machine felt more like a genuine 3Dish Kirby game.
I don't remember exactly who did that 45 minute expose exactly that AntDude was talking about, but I'm pretty sure I saw that sometime before.
God... I've *LOATHED* the submarine level in Pac-Man World 2 so... much. If it wasn't that level the boss fight against Blinky (He's called Clyde in the game but I'm still calling him Blinky) was truly maddening and frustrating and it's something that I'll never forget upon my first time. So many lives were lost because of him it made Spooky a complete walk in the park by comparison.
Welp since the guys mentioned the Pac-Man World games here's a Fun Fact: Originally Don Bluth was heavily involved in the art direction for Pac-Man World 3. The working title was going to be called Pac-Man Adventures and the gameplay was meant to be interactive game in vein to Dragon's Lair and it was even going to feature Dig Dug (AKA Taizo Hori) at one point who looked outright depressed. There was also going to be a mechanic where Pac-Man "looses control" of himself as there's concept art of him having aggravated expressions.
Clyde felt harder than Spooky in that game.

I, for one, find the attack helicopter joke atleast semi-humorous.
And this is why I prioritize on ONLY being a Blue-Eyes Player. The play style is short, simple, surprisingly easy to learn, hits hard, not too unfair or OP to the opponent, and it’s designed to end duels as quickly as possible…
Kinda like Vergils fighting style, who had his arsenal/gameplay slowly enhanced as the years go on…
Simplistic play style is why I kinda why I like Antique Gears (or Ancient Gears if you prefer) cause that deck centers around running stuff over without worrying about stuff like Holy Barrier Mirror Force, Negate Attack, Magic Cylinder, etc, etc

The Kirby timeline and Lore is very interesting with how much stuff it explains even if it is minor it still shows a bit of how interesting the lore is. Also the best version of the factory song is original or the one from Triple Deluxe if I remember correctly.
I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but NicoB posted his first exposure to Kirby Lore (Before Forgotten Land). I recommend you watch it, if only to watch his brain break upon the realization Kirby is much more complex than he believed.

I think you mean Planet Robobot. The Kirby 64 factory theme had a new remix in that game, whereas Triple Deluxe didn't feature it in any capacity.

Speaking as someone who hasn't played the physical card game and only played virtual versions (started with Duel Links and have off and on played Master Duel), I at least think they're a good media.
Yugioh chain resolutions that were chain link 3 or higher then start another chain link link 3 or higher can be very time consuming so play simple cards like waboku

about the chess counter. It freezes. If the opponent has an ecology environmental thesis deck and has poor connection, the timer will freeze and you will either:
Have to sit there and wait so that the opponent surrenders
Have to sit there and wait so that the opponent's connection dies and the game RECOGNIZES IT
or you yourself surrender.
So honestly the chess counter just doesn't help at all sometimes.
And we never solved the mystery of Where in the world is Shinichi Shimomura.

As someone who worked at Waffle House for 14 years, I can confirm about the lack of sleep due to the place being open 24 hours. Also, the food depends on the Grill Operator. If I am cooking there, it's good food. If not, I will 85% of the time pass on eating at Waffle House.

Current Yugioh player here, the cards do have keywords, there are issues with yugioh cards tho, especially with they way the effects are written and formatted

honestly the biggest gripe i have with Forgotten Land's lack of storytelling is that there's more plot in the True Arena than the main game, you basically get the whole plot by staying in Waddle-dee town
the funnier art of YuGi-Oh's text problem is that they introduced a new Format for "Faster simpler duels" & yet, they STILL don't use Keywords for Card effects, the closest they have is using "GY" instead of GraveYard & that's it

On face value, it's a card that attaches itself to other card from (any) graveyard to bring it under your control with -1/0 penalty, and if spell is destroyed, creature dies with it. Simple enough, right?
Well, actual text reads this:
"Enchant creature card in a graveyard
When Animate Dead enters the battlefield, if it’s on the battlefield, it loses “enchant creature card in a graveyard” and gains “enchant creature put onto the battlefield with Animate Dead.” Return enchanted creature card to the battlefield under your control and attach Animate Dead to it. When Animate Dead leaves the battlefield, that creature’s controller sacrifices it.
Enchanted creature gets -1/-0."
All of this nonsense stems from rules being way too tight for the card idea
- Cards that change zones they're in (hand, deck, graveyard, play) technically become different objects with no memory of their past existence, including identity, so once you bring something out of the graveyard, you cannot refer to it, you need a new target
- Enchantments must be attached to legal targets, and this card must change definition of what it is attached to to do its thing, otherwise it itself goes to graveyard, and because card it is originally attached to no longer exists (let alone in graveyard), it needs to change its target selector to "enchants the card it just brought into play"
