    2001 Buell 4000 miles. Changed it with valve cover gaskets. If you own a Buell you would be more than Crazy to even start the motor without it.

    Dan, a few years ago, on your recommendation, when I put one of your cams i my 07 1200 I put in the bronze drive gears in. My stock steel on was so worn that the teeth were so worn that you could shave with it on one side. Failure was emanate, when I put your 1250 110 hp kit in, I checked the drive gear just to be safe. Looked brand new.

    Thank you very much for this video and the others you put out 👍. The engine in my ‘01 Buell X1 grenaded during a top speed run near max rpm... Haven’t taken it apart yet to diagnose, but oil pump failure is a likely candidate. Flywheel spread etc. Looking forward to becoming a customer for the rebuild 👍

    Hi Hammer Dan I run a 120Ci S&S Pro Stock Engine I brought a 2nd Hand Splined Shaft from you guys and got a Local Machine shop to Spline the Gear so I could Run the Bronze Gear on my Engine. Wish I had really Looked You Guys up on You Tube earlier in my engine rebuild would have been so much easier.

    My 05 Ulysses have the bronze gear,I’ve checked it yesterday and yes, there is a thin lip.
    Only 14 thousand km.
    Some tiny little small piece on the edge of the gear is missing, probably already around the engine, or hopefully sitting somewhere.
    Probably I can still ride the bike but it won’t be a nice feeling knowing that gear can shred anytime

    Just replaced mine to bronze,steel gear sheared,locked up oil pump,shattered,havent got oil pump in yet(waiting on it to come in). Is there any recommendations on things I should do or check before starting? I cleaned out all scraps in cam case and cover,pulled out lifters,drained all oil (fingers crossed). Any help would be greatly appreciated,this is my baby and have done all work myself,with alot of watching your videos. Big bore kit,cam,ignition,clutch,etc. You all make amazing products and the informtion you provide is priceless. Thank you and hope to eventually hit that 120hp!!!!

    Havent tore into the buell yet but was wondering is it possible to 180 the part and put it back in after you flip it into the driveshaft ?

      If you could 180 degree the gear, you would end up spinning the oil pump in the wrong direction?

      Ilia Timonin How is this driven in your opinion? Looks to me that this late oil pump is still driven by an oil pump drive gear just like the pumps before.The pump in itself was upgraded,not the way how it is driven.If it would different in the worm gear ,it would be retrofittable.“2007 XB engines got a new up-dated oil pump which will retro fit to older EVO Sportster Engines, BLAST engines and older XB Engines „sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:evo:oil03

      @@Xldevil 2008-2010 Buell XB oil pump is mounted inside the cam housing and actuated by spur gears. 09-10 Buell XB Oil pump is not separate unit anymore, it is integrated in the cam housing and there is no warm gear because of oil pump axises are parallel to crankshaft axis and cams axises.

    Hi! If i want upgrade the normal oil pump drive gear with the bronze, i have to buy only this piece or there are son kit? Thanks

    • @zackpaints
      @zackpaints 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You buy only the bronze oil pump drive gear itself. There is a video by Dan showing how to install. All of my bikes have them . A half a day over a weekend you can put one in. You’ll need an oil pump gasket, cam cover gasket , rocker box gasket set and push rods tube seals.

      If you're talking about a race bike, you want a 91-03, with 00-03 being preferred due to certain minor improvements. All serious race Sportys are based on 1991-2003 for a variety of reasons. But they vibrate bad when you wind them up.
      If you're talking about a street bike, the rubber mount bikes (2004+) are much more comfortable. You give up the cassette transmission and they're also a bit heavier, as compared to 91-03. So they're less suitable for for racing. But they're hard to beat for an everyday rider.
      Get a 2004-2006 if you want a carb bike . 2005 is actually the best of those three years because they're the last year for tappet pins, and 2004 models have more stock crank issues than the later ones.
      2007+ are EFI. The EFI bikes make a bit more power for a given level of motor mods than the carb bikes. Modern EFI tuners like the Powervision actually make it very easy to tune them too. 2014+ have a little better EFI system (CAN-bus) so they're slightly more desirable than 2007-2013, but it's not that big of a deal, they're both really good.

    Why didn't they fix the flywheel spread problem?

    • @HAMMERPERFORMANCE
      @HAMMERPERFORMANCE  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a good question. Probably because of price. The gear would be cheaper to replace than the crank. Although they did replace the cranks on all the 08 and later buells and XR's. Probably because the rev limit is at 7500 from the factory. On all the sportsters it's not that high.
