Ukraine is just a poor country in east europe Taiwan manufacturing 80% chips of the world, they have tsmc, mediatek, HTC. Taiwan is 100 times more important to the world economy than Ukraine.
They'll never get enough troops over that 180 km (110 miles) sea, very hard to cross over without getting sunk. If the West stops business with China that's at least 40% of their GDP gone. Also, Taiwanese actually have an effective military force. Meaning Chinese won't do anything, but sure are pissed off that Taiwan exists. If the good ol' U.S. mobilizes it can wage war on two or three fronts, easily. It would turn nuclear at some point, Chinese are smart enough to hold it, don't make a move.

"UPDATE" 4 Months later and China economy is in chaos, and talks of a economic crash. China has overbearing debt in real estate in the amount of 9 trillion dollars. Debt accounts make up for 30% of China's GDP. China has over 4000 banks and there all scamming ppl out of there money's. Some ppl have had there accounts frozen due to lack of money. Investment account holders were told they would gain 4% interest but, put their money into investment products, thousands of people have lost their life savings. The banks let investors have full control of the money, one investor stole six billion dollars and fled the country. China's economy is in total chaos. Also India has started their Diamond triangle so to speak, for future Trading and the US is making its own trading belt like China is trying to. If they succeed, China won't be able to fight in a conventional War.

The arguments regarding South Korea and Japan are on point, as are many others. Comparing US and its allies' military capabilities to China's is an apples to oranges comparison. China has gone to a lot of trouble making its military resemble the US military outwardly. Left out of the analysis is the physical difficulty the PLA and PLAN would face in their effort to put an occupying force on Taiwan. China would quickly encounter nearly insurmountable problems in landing such a force there. Its invasion attempt would likely devolve into something resembling what Russia is doing in Ukraine. Analysis of the economic impact on China doesn’t go nearly far enough. China cut off from the West would cause far more damage to its economy.

If the US wanted to attack China (which MacArthur actually suggested to Truman and got fired because of it), US forces would have steamrolled to Beijing, killing tens of millions of Chinese in the process. These days however, if there is one thing that the Republicans and the Democrats and the general population of the United States can agree on, it's that China needs an @ss whooping. Your comment is very narrow minded and biased. In such a war between the US, China and Taiwan, more players would be involved than you think. Russia in Europe, China in the pacific, Iran/Iraq/Syria in the middle east, and Zone B forces in Venezuela using the cartels to push violence into central/north America. When discussing Pakistan's economy you must realize it is the result of debt servicing inabilities. If everyone cuts off trade, the debt no longer matters, and a transition to being self sufficient would be considerably easier, especially as contracts would no longer be honored. Pakistan can produce its own food, pharmaceuticals and essential supplies. You also have to realize that Pakistan can receive petroleum from the middle east from it's allies, and if they refuse, Iran or Russia which will happily supply it. Pakistan also has a robust military industrial complex, far superior to Indias. Pakistan can produce, repair and maintain its military hardware a lot easier as most of it is locally produced, reverse engineered or procured from allies. India's military equipment is sourced from every corner of the world, and is hurt by excessive regulations / logistics of size. So, if there was to be a two front war of Pakistan + China vs India, the Indian side would not be able to do anything. Tl:dr, Pakistan gets involved to help China, India would have to risk being dragged into a nuclear war if it was even close to "demilitarizing" Pakistan. Similarly, if it made incursions into China, the same outcome is possible. Hence India will not do anything, nor will Pakistan. However if one side does get involved, the other will follow and it is likely both will choose to walk away rather than nuke each other over Taiwan, which isn't "a big deal" to either of them. More can be achieved from diplomacy than violence, and encouraging jingoistic behavior is not good especially during these times.

I wouldn't say china's economy is growing rapidly anymore. Recently its only been growing 5%. Most need 2% to be "growing" and 2013 China was at 20% growth. It's been on a steady decline due to their "belt road" projects not doing anything. They just had to write off 50 billion in debt cuz of the loans they gave those nations not being able to pay. On top of their bare branches getting ready to retire soon. I doubt they will b able to do anything to Taiwan if they dont do it now
China would be utterly screwed with semiconductors, because the US and EU collaborate to keep key parts of the supply chain of bleeding edge chips out of Chinese hands. Which means that, in a collapse in trade, China would have to recreate the high skill R&D aspects from scratch, while the US would have to recreate the low-medium skill assembly from scratch (which it already is). Also, the US economy is much less trade-focused anyway.

It might be great in consumer applications, especially the mid to low tech stuff, almost all of the high end stuff is completely out of China’s reach, including fundamental researches. And it is the high end research that drives technology advances. You will not be researching the one end goal tech, you are researching every in-between steps to get there… It will be fun to watch. The Indo-Pacific has grown increasingly anti-Chinese in the last few years. Korea just elected an openly pro-American President to replace the more Neutral/Chinese leaning one, Philippines also growing more hostile as they clash regularly against PLA ships purposely taking up their fishing zones. Japan is openly talking about making the SDF into an actual military and even discussions about nuclear weapon deployment which was unthinkable and political suicide only a few years ago. Strangely enough, Taiwanese are more confident in JSDF getting directly involved in an open war than the USAF. Weird but fun fact.
What can Japan possibly do with nuclear weapons, if China or North Korea launches a nuclear attack on Japan that is it, Japan is fully wiped out because Japan's populations are too concentrated and won't be able to spread out. Nuclear weapons are only useful as a weapon if your country has a large enough land mass
I have also been saying it for a while. If there was an invasion of Taiwan by the CCP, it would actually be the JSDF that would join into action first, and then the US. That invasion would actually be a real security threat to Japan, whereas it wouldn't actually be a security threat to the US.

"UPDATE" 4 Months later and China economy is in chaos, and talks of a economic crash.
China has overbearing debt in real estate in the amount of 9 trillion dollars. Debt accounts make up for 30% of China's GDP. China has over 4000 banks and there all scamming ppl out of there money's. Some ppl have had there accounts frozen due to lack of money. Investment account holders were told they would gain 4% interest but, put their money into investment products, thousands of people have lost their life savings. The banks let investors have full control of the money, one investor stole six billion dollars and fled the country. China's economy is in total chaos. Also India has started their Diamond triangle so to speak, for future Trading and the US is making its own trading belt like China is trying to. If they succeed, China won't be able to fight in a conventional War.

Left out of the analysis is the physical difficulty the PLA and PLAN would face in their effort to put an occupying force on Taiwan. China would quickly encounter nearly insurmountable problems in landing such a force there. Its invasion attempt would likely devolve into something resembling what Russia is doing in Ukraine. Analysis of the economic impact on China doesn’t go nearly far enough. China cut off from the West would cause far more damage to its economy.

Your comment is very narrow minded and biased. In such a war between the US, China and Taiwan, more players would be involved than you think. Russia in Europe, China in the pacific, Iran/Iraq/Syria in the middle east, and Zone B forces in Venezuela using the cartels to push violence into central/north America. When discussing Pakistan's economy you must realize it is the result of debt servicing inabilities. If everyone cuts off trade, the debt no longer matters, and a transition to being self sufficient would be considerably easier, especially as contracts would no longer be honored. Pakistan can produce its own food, pharmaceuticals and essential supplies. You also have to realize that Pakistan can receive petroleum from the middle east from it's allies, and if they refuse, Iran or Russia which will happily supply it. Pakistan also has a robust military industrial complex, far superior to Indias. Pakistan can produce, repair and maintain its military hardware a lot easier as most of it is locally produced, reverse engineered or procured from allies. India's military equipment is sourced from every corner of the world, and is hurt by excessive regulations / logistics of size. So, if there was to be a two front war of Pakistan + China vs India, the Indian side would not be able to do anything.
Tl:dr, Pakistan gets involved to help China, India would have to risk being dragged into a nuclear war if it was even close to "demilitarizing" Pakistan. Similarly, if it made incursions into China, the same outcome is possible. Hence India will not do anything, nor will Pakistan. However if one side does get involved, the other will follow and it is likely both will choose to walk away rather than nuke each other over Taiwan, which isn't "a big deal" to either of them.
More can be achieved from diplomacy than violence, and encouraging jingoistic behavior is not good especially during these times.

I wouldn't say china's economy is growing rapidly anymore. Recently its only been growing 5%. Most need 2% to be "growing" and 2013 China was at 20% growth. It's been on a steady decline due to their "belt road" projects not doing anything. They just had to write off 50 billion in debt cuz of the loans they gave those nations not being able to pay. On top of their bare branches getting ready to retire soon. I doubt they will b able to do anything to Taiwan if they dont do it now

China would be utterly screwed with semiconductors, because the US and EU collaborate to keep key parts of the supply chain of bleeding edge chips out of Chinese hands. Which means that, in a collapse in trade, China would have to recreate the high skill R&D aspects from scratch, while the US would have to recreate the low-medium skill assembly from scratch (which it already is).
Also, the US economy is much less trade-focused anyway.
China controls the supply of key materials for semiconductor industrial.

The Indo-Pacific has grown increasingly anti-Chinese in the last few years. Korea just elected an openly pro-American President to replace the more Neutral/Chinese leaning one, Philippines also growing more hostile as they clash regularly against PLA ships purposely taking up their fishing zones. Japan is openly talking about making the SDF into an actual military and even discussions about nuclear weapon deployment which was unthinkable and political suicide only a few years ago.

What can Japan possibly do with nuclear weapons, if China or North Korea launches a nuclear attack on Japan that is it, Japan is fully wiped out because Japan's populations are too concentrated and won't be able to spread out. Nuclear weapons are only useful as a weapon if your country has a large enough land mass
I have also been saying it for a while. If there was an invasion of Taiwan by the CCP, it would actually be the JSDF that would join into action first, and then the US. That invasion would actually be a real security threat to Japan, whereas it wouldn't actually be a security threat to the US.

Of course, ideally for China, it would take Taiwan without any damage to the massive semiconductor fabs, but it's highly unlikely a forceful takeover can avoid such an event occurring.
