This was the best video I've seen on how to take apart these Ruger 10/22 rifles. Thanks for keeping it short and simple.

I like that it's not a half hour long - too the point and gives all the necessary information. Well done.

This is the perfect video to show you how to disassemble and reassemble the gun. Thanks!!

Good video. I have been field-striping mine for 20 years. The only suggestion I'd like to make, is that the take-down screw doesn't have to be totally removed, just unscrewed far enough for the barrel assembly to be removed. Some people struggle pulling back the charging handle to re-assemble the bolt, due to finger strength. They can use the screwdriver along with their finger to assist them in pulling it back.

Thank you for the video. I had a 10/20 I bought back in the 80's. A buddy of mine begged me to sell it to him. He bought a farm and needed it for varmints. He just sold it back! Even though it is in excellent shape it was filthy. He never cleaned it at all. Back when I owned it I never "field stripped it. I had no idea, but thanks to you and You Tube, it is clean as a whistle. The only problem I had was the charging handle came off the spring. It would not go back on, took about an hour, then I realized it wasn't supposed to come off, and it has a little burr on the top to keep it from coming off. Once I got it back on, I had to force it over the burr, I was able to put it back together. Took me about an hour total. I think I will buy a new one then it will take 5 minutes.

Thank you, fantastic video. I bought a used 10/22 I've heard people say you need three hands to put this gun back together but watching your video it really doesn't look all that hard. Much easier to see it being done than reading the manual too.

Great video. I just did my first field strip and reassembly based on these instructions. Two things that really messed me up were pulling back the slide lock all the way, because mine had some scratches from what I believe was bad ammo; and putting back the receiver was confusing until I realized that the slide lock was engaged, which keeps the receiver from falling into place under the bolt.

Thanks for your video. I was installing a Volquartsen quick bolt release, firing pin, & extractor, & I had never field stripped the rifle, so this helped a lot.

Nice video. I just got another one and it seems very tight stiff. I took it apart and cleaned it. When you charge the slide back, it almost seems like it catches half way down and you have to apply more force to fully charge it. I loaded the 10 round clip and was not able to cycle manually more than 2-3 bullets out without it jamming up or extracting. Its never been fired.

My 10/22 is like that, the bolt rides back easily then halfway back i have to pull a little harder get the bolt fully back. I say take it to the range and run a good amount of rounds through it. My 10/22 had a lot of malfunctions when I first got it and now it runs flawlessly (except for bad ammo). I probably put 2k+ rounds through it.

@@kilroywuzhere1 Thank you for your advice, I now soak all my firearms in a 55 gallon drum of 90 weight oil overnight and hang them on a string for 5 minutes before firing them. It sprays a little smoke and oil for a while, but it clears up after a while. thanks again. Can you tell me where he says to oil his 10/22? That was my kind way to remind him to share that info. without being blunt.

While this was a good video, you made it look very easy. But for those who do not find it quite that easy I would recommend looking into the Winchester Wildcat .22LR. The breakdown and assembly is VERY simple, can be done in the field as needed, with carrying extra tools. Just say'n.

I can’t get the trigger assembly in! A piece juts out and hits the bolt, so the assembly see-saws front to back, the pivot point being a piece of the assembly against the back edge of the bolt. Help?!?!

Important Step: If you don't remove the "buffer pin", you can't pull the bolt far back enough to remove it. This is a key step. 🤨
