Hands down the coolest discipline. Those who immediately jump to, 'oh no, Vicissitude = monstrousness!' lack imagination, I think. If you can shape yourself into ANYTHING, why go straight for being a monster? Metamorphosis is meant to give you the ability and opportunity to transcend your physical limitations, and just going for spikes and extra eyes everywhere is a bit boring. There are so many possibilities out there, including simply being the best, truest version of yourself - you as an individual person, not you as the collection of organic processes you were born with. If you could be anything, what would you be?
I’d use it to shape my fingers into talons for better attacks, strengthen my muscles to negate recoil, and harden my chest to prevent bullet strikes and staking. That there is the smart way to use it.
Hmmm I guess there are some Kindred that didn’t want to wait for their medical license in plastic surgery. You get a free Botox injection and a belly full of vitae for this outstanding video! Ty LBN! 😊
Thank you so much for such a detailed and interesting video about my favorite discipline. Despite the fact that I have never had much love and interest from the Path of Metamorphosis, the discipline of Vicissitude has always been for me one of the most alluring, exciting and amazing. Still, what other ability will allow you to turn your body into an ideal of beauty or the product of the most monstrous nightmares. Maybe both at the same time, after all, why bother with the standard understanding of beauty. In general, why dwell on only one form and one direction of change at all. And the best thing is that this gift can be shared with others, helping them achieve their own ideal, if of course they are not afraid.
I think you can seperate the core of each path by asking what each one focuses on when asked the question: "what is a vampire?" If I'm following correctly, here are the answers: Path of humanity: a vampire is a cursed human, trying to staunch a bleeding soul. Beast: a vampire is a intelligent predator, not ruled but guided by the beast. Kings: a superior race of higher standard, meant to lead and control. Sin: an individual first and foremost, whose personal freedom and desires are everything. (see also egoism.) Heaven: a small player in a divine plan, though which role is being played is questionable. Abyssal: a loathesome nothing in a strange world of darkness. Metamorphosis: the next transitional stage in a grand evolution. Paradox: a seeker of a calling/dharma, similar but seperate to humanity. Cain: I'm stuck on this one. A descendant of Cain, obviously, but that's a historical idea more than philosophy. Anyone else have an opinion?
From what I see, The Path of Caine is the idea of becoming like the Dark Father, Caine. Give into your vampiric ways, but can control the beast itself. While many try to find a higher meaning, greater power, or change back, it is a path of acceptance of being a vampire. Caine: Acceptance and strive to be like the first vampire, a master your new form, consumer of even fell kindred unworthy, accept this new life.
One consideration that comes to my mind a few times watching the video is that those who follow the Path of Metamorphosis should be the individuals less concerned with "transcendence" and "spirituality" in the setting. Those expressions came from a Cosmogony Dualist regarding the nature of existence. We know for a fact that World of Darkness is dualist, there are other "levels" or existence beyond material plane, but the core point of Metamorphosis is immanence, the opposite of transcendence. Those who follow the path are not interested in use the body as a tool to improve their spirits, like mystical humans do. They have their spirits in their bodies, in "indissoluble union" (ideally). "Paradise" in that Path is perfection, but perfection in this world.
Now if I remember my lower correctly wasn't the whole space alien thing from Dirty Secrets of the black hand which was supposedly written by a disgruntled employee that was fired soon after?
What if vicissitude was used to help in surgeries? Due to the malleability of the flesh and bone, you could fix mortal bones in seconds, fix congenital diseases, maybe even cure cancer (the healthier the cattle, the better the meat, right?) It could also help kindred by giving Nosferatu their previous shape, maybe even do more complicated stuff like create specialized glands that produce whatever is that is in mortal blood (or even reshape the stomach to be able to digest food once again), give kindred skin resistance to sunlight (plausible, but I guess this isn’t related to melanin), perhaps creating alternative sources of blood (perhaps by reshaping rats or flesh cultures into literally blood-producing meat sacks (might require some tinkering to get the taste right). The sky (and medical knowledge) is the limit.
1) Vicissitude causes great amount of pain, exceeding and medical treatment in that regards. It effects bone and flesh, and can't be used to cure illnesses. 2) As mentioned in the episode, quite clearly, it does not "cure" the Nosferatu and neither could it be used to make portable fleshy blood sacs.
Would it be possible to turn mortal or Thin blood into a blood dispenser with vicissitude? perhaps merging many into one to create as much blood as possible.
@@LoreByNightVtM Actually would vicissitude give the merging flesh compatibility with other flesh? like a relative organ donor? I think too much about these kinds of things anyway amazing video as all ways.
A skilled user could probably mold the veins and flesh on a mortal to make something like a 'tap' to be squeezed in order to get vitae Would probably work just the same as normal feeding, but with a little more horrific flair
I am relatively new to VtM and I love it! My favourite clan are the Fiends and since you've uploaded that excellent one on Obtenebration and the Path of Night, I've been waiting with baited breath for this one! I must say I am quite disappointed on the turn Tzimisce lore took on v5.
Perfect timing for my friends sabbat one shot this will be perfect for my (hopefully soon to be setite) fiend Update we ended up blowing up most of new York and are now on the run from the "true black hand"
Why do they seek low generation ? And why can a low generation permanent transform an more powerful kindred but a high gen not a low gen ? Im sorry in foward if I just didnt get it
You probably think that high means better, but it's the other way around. The "higher" you are on the "tree" the farther you are from the "roots" of vampirism that give you powers. Generally, the low generation is old and the high is young.

I’d be myself but a happy
As a wize man once said, I would be 7 feet tall and ripped. Though I do agree with you.
I'd be thin. I'd be tall. And I'd be constantly reading.... I'd be a Kiasyd basically hah
A woman, maybe a bit taller, less pale.
I’d use it to shape my fingers into talons for better attacks, strengthen my muscles to negate recoil, and harden my chest to prevent bullet strikes and staking. That there is the smart way to use it.
Very well done. I still say that what the Tzimisce do with flesh, blood and bone what the Ministry does with the spirit. Better to do both as one.
Vicissitude and Metamorphosis right after the Obteenbration video!? This has been a treat! They're my two favorite Disciplines / Clans.

Vicissitudes: a cruel twist of fate or circumstances. I think over the past 18 months most of us can empathise.

I heard Zulo form and thought of Andre.
“Zulo,” not “Zulu.” 😂

Loved the callback
I've always been drawn to clan Tzimisce but I have never cared for vicissitude. Guess that makes me Old Clan Tzimisce. Is there much lore on them?
Not a great deal beyond what I covered in this episode, the episode on the Tzimisce and the Tal'Mahe'Ra
@@LoreByNightVtM I enjoyed your Tzimisce Clan video, I'll have to check out the Tal'Mahe'Ra one. Thanks for the great videos!

That's...an interesting question. Canonically, I don't know, but I'd allow that because I don't see why that wouldn't work?

WAIT A MINUTE, is this a new series???
Can you do Chimerstry next please? I want to hear especially about how Chimerstry fucks with the Fae
Might be something I'll dip and out of occasionally. Did Blood Sorcery as well as Obtenebration 👀
Why exactly can't the curse of the Nosferatu be removed via fleshcrafting again 🤔
Because Caine

The potency of the blood is stronger, which allows stronger and greater use of Vicissitude

Yes but it's requires dominate and protean, it's not own thing in v5 (Which I don't personally like)
