If it's still sitting on a GPW frame the front cross member will be C channel with the open end pointed down. If the crossmember is a tube then you have a Willys frame.
No rear panel is very common. Farmers would cut it out and discard it to facilitate agricultural use. They make replacements, even entire body kits. Mine was on a farm for 30 years before I acquired it.
WWII jeeps gas tanks are filled by flipping up the seat cushion. They don’t have filler caps on the tub! That’s a CJ or M38 item. Ok I missed your comment about the gas tank refit. It didn’t make sense with all the gpw marked parts. Pretty cool - it has a lot of the bits. It’s looks lovely jevyiy have data plates AND a hood number - very cool. Sorry about the tub modifications. I’m just wrapping up an 8 year restoration on a ‘42 Willy’s myself. MVPA and MVCC Member
This sent before I could edit it🤔 that should have been it’s great that you have data plates and a hood number! My tub was so far gone I replaced it with a MD Juan repro
been wondering about that i have a jeep just like this but it dosent have the tank filler on the out side, no tail gate, but it has a win whiled with rounded corners. all i can assume is that it was fitted with a later model windshield, i dont have any where near the rust but it got a toyota 4banger im assuming in the 70s because its a 1960s 4 cyl that looks like its been in there a long time. runs and only cost me $300!
Glove box SN doesn't jive with early 42. Early 42 would have script tub. No ribs in the glove box, no trailer socket, reaction spring, blackout light etc...
yop,i did use it almost daily since i buy (again)an Harley,it was restored 25 years ago so need somme cosmetics,a got with lots of parts, like new trny, new rebuild motor, carburetors dynamo etc etc to manny to name all
metal was so rare in 43 /44 also rubber, jeep commed out of willys and ford factory build with used parts from the africa front so no ford was pure ford no willys was pure willys
i got one for sale.with an important stock off nos spare parts and goodises.it's an november 1943 gpw, location switzerland.exchange with side valve harley why not
@@johnqpublic9074 You are right Excuse me ! Just watched the vid a second time, its the gas tank filler on the left side that got me wrong ( probably a bubba job).Nice jeep....hard to find one like that in Europe.
Fantastic Willys Jeep I reckon.

Is this for sale?
Shirt Shirt Dominic no. It’s gone.
Thats not a WWII jeep. Thats a Korean war M38
Gary Allsebrook, how can you tell?
Nope, its a WW2 GPW. If it was M38 it would have T90 transmission, and hinges on the front of the grill.
Is this for sale
No. Already sold.
